M.D. Spenser (born May 1, 1953) is the author of the 36-book SHIVERS series.[1] The books were aimed at readers between the ages of 8 and 14. Spenser is an international journalist originally from the United States but now based in Belgium.

The SHIVERS books were published between 1996 and 1998, and sold millions of copies in the United States and throughout the British Commonwealth. Spenser also wrote the six-book Humano Morphs series.

The SHIVERS series began being republished in August 2011 as ebooks. So far the first three books in the series are available on Amazon, Sony, iBookstore and Barnes & Noble: Book 1, "The Enchanted Attic," Book 2, "A Ghastly Shade of Green," and Book 3, "Ghost Writer." The rest will follow.

Spenser is now writing a novel set in modern London, titled Some Say In Ice. He is also working on a book about running and a humorous memoir about his years in journalism.
