GUARDIAN ANGEL WEST COAST GATHERING OF ANGELS
It was awesome! I loaded some pictures to the GAP yahoo group loop photos and will be putting some online on our GAP pages. I took 180 and we had a photographer, Steve (Claudia's other half- I started to say better half but there is no way to top Claudia!!) with us for most of the events.

Wednesday:
Hosts for this entire event were KC and Fred Snider..
Susann Batson and I got in Wed eve .KC and her publicist Claudia picked us up in Portland and we went to Olive Garden on the way home from the airport. (Thanks for the 3 hour ride KC & Claudia)

We were handed an itinerary when we arrived with a gift bag of goodies.(Thanks again KC & Claudia!)

Thursday:
Visiting GAP Attendees: Shari Soffe (her husband Bob), Janie Robinson, Sue Berger, Janet Collins, Bill Kirk, Susann Batson, Mary Jean Kelso, KC of course and moi- Lynda Burch. (Margot we missed you and thought about you every time we did anything!)

Susann and I helped setup the tables and tent in KC's backyard (Susann in her pj's).
The decorations were lit grapes hanging from the roof, grapes on tables, sparkling lights & ice sculptures of Angels-- Bonnie catered all of our food events! These bestest cook I ever saw (I started to say ate- hee hee)
Steak barbecue at KC's Thursday night w/live music, The High Desert Writers Group brought in hors' d'oeuvres for us and attended the dinner. I think there were about 32 people there.

Friday:
AM- EARLY EARLY EARLY (and I'm not not stuttering- just not a morning person;) KC and I went to the GOOD MORNING CENTRAL OREGON for a TV interview- I was the fat lady in the hot seat!

We went back to KCs for a wonderful breakfast buffet by Bonnie and then loaded four cars for a private tour of Lava Land part of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument by Ranger Julie (KCs daughter) where we saw examples of 3 types of volcano's, crossed 7000 year old lava flow from Lava Butte, climbed trails and saw wonderful views of the Cascade Mountains--And had a lovely picnic lunch packed by Bonnie where we watched the teeny chipmunks, ground squirrels and squirrels packing away for winter and drinking from their own ground level water fountains.

Then we set out to see the Big Obsidian flow, ash and pumice flows of the Newberry Caldera and the twin lakes of Paulina and East Lake and waterfalls. All the time learning about volcanoes from our fantastic tour guide Ranger Julie

Night out at a local restaurant (YOYO) where we dined on exceptional cuisine. (Where do they get all these good cooks from??)

Saturday:
B&N book signing finally arrived and we arrived with timed rotating locations at signing tables, book readings in the kids department stage and visiting with buyers.(all planned & organized by Claudia- now you know why I want her clone) The event was so much fun for everyone. It was wonderful seeing our books in their front windows and the displays in the store. The B&N people even joined our group for pictures.

On our way home from the bookstore we made a slight detour and saw Smith Rocks where people come from around the globe to climb those rocks. It has Crooked River flowing through its canyons- awesome colors of the stones and walls. Many movies have been made there- one was Kevin Costner's "The Postman"

We trooped home to KCs for dinner this time beef stroganoff catered by Bonnie where another local live singer performed,

Oh did I forget to say that Susann Batson managed to go shopping every day? One day with Sue Berger, two with Janie Robinson? (Pssst. she had to buy new luggage to be able to take it back to Missouri)

People started departing for home Saturday after dinner but those of us who didn't stayed up late telling embarrassing moments stories and laughing until we cried then listening & singing to our songwriter Janie Robinson's wonderful music.

Sunday:
Janet Collins, Fred, Bonnie and her fiancee went to church, everyone else was heading out and saying goodbyes.

Claudia, KC, Susann and I made one more journey, this time to Crater Lake where the collapse of Mount Mazuma the bluest, prettiest lake I have ever seen.

Monday:
Claudia and KC then drove us through the beautiful mountains one more time to Portland for Susan and I to head back to the Midwest with lunch on the way at Calamity Jane's. I think that George Washington hamburger with pie cherries and sour cream was very patriotic.

It was the most incredible experience for me finally meeting my Angels and bonding with them. And we can't thank KC & Fred enough for the best hosts and Claudia for orchestrating the events... sigh... it will be hard to top this next September in Saint Louis.

By the way, they all wanted to know where my "Big" hair was and I had to admit it migrated south.
