Okay, about me. Well, I live in Maryland with my husband, two boys, three horses, and one Australian Blue Heeler. I'm the author of the young adult novel, BEAUTY SHOP FOR RENT, by Harcourt. When I'm not writing, I can usually be found reading, horseback riding, cheering for my boys at a baseball field, watching reality TV or working on a to-do list that never gets done. Some of my past job titles include waitress, gym membership salesperson, secretary, telemarketer, and during my broke college days, one of those roving characters you see at malls during holiday parades. (The time I had to wear a candy cane costume makes quite an interesting story!)



In 1998, I was a full-time mom when I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a writer. Fourteen multi-rejected picture books, and two so-so young adult novels later, I was inspired to write BEAUTY SHOP FOR RENT after passing a rusted sign that was posted in front of an old, but charming house. And now, I can honestly say that writing and motherhood is a thousand times more rewarding than being a candy cane!
