I was born in Yorkshire, England in 1952 and educated at local schools. I moved to Italy in 1977, with the intention of staying only one year to learn the language, however I liked the city of Torino and had made friends here and – except for a year working in Singapore – have been here ever since.
Initially I taught English in private language schools, but in 1984 I was offered the opportunity to begin editing, translating and writing children’s books and this was the start of a new career.
Since that time I have been working principally as an editorial translator, but I have also continued to write and edit scholastic textbooks. I have taught translation studies in graduate and post-graduate courses and since 2004 I have been a lecturer in English at the University of Torino, Faculty of Economics.
I have been a member of AITI (Associazione Italiana Traduttori Interpreti) since 1997 and in January 2006 I was elected President of the Regional Chapter for Piemonte and the Valle d’Aosta.
I am strongly committed to the values and goals of the Association, which aims to improve working conditions for translators and interpreters, while promoting the highest standards of quality.
As a translator my clients include the publishing houses, university departments, and university lecturers.
