K.L. Parry was born in 1959 in Anchorage, Alaska. She spent most of her childhood in rural Colorado and Texas before her family finally settled in California.

She was a gifted student in school with dreams of pursuing a career in the creative arts. Her parents discouraged this and before completing her second year at a community college she dropped out.

She went on to marry and have two children, working at a variety of odd jobs. After 7 years of marriage she separated from her husband. A year later, at the age of 30, K. L. Parry joined a group of acrobats and performers. She spent the next 10 years performing weekends at festivals and events, most renaissance/fantasy themed. She performed on horseback as a Rosinback Rider, designed and assembled costumes, wrote scripts and shoveled copious amounts of manure for little or no pay. An accident while performing a particularly dangerous trick called a "suicide drop" signaled the end of her riding career and within that same year, she retired from Rosinback Riding entirely.

Her early writing projects consisted of poems, short stories and, once her children had become teenagers, elaborate letters to their teachers. But it was not until her children were grown that she found time to work on larger and more challenging projects. One of these projects was a YA historical fiction named THE PIRATE'S DAUGHTER AND A KING'S RANSOM - A HIGH SEAS ADVENTURE which she began in 2001. It took 9 years to complete the first draft. It would take another 5 years before her manuscript was polished enough for publication.

To date, K.L. Parry has added a novelette to her body of work: the dark science fiction/fantasy, GIRL IN THE MERMAID TAIL. She has another science fiction themed novelette in the works and is actively working on a second book in THE HIGH SEAS ADVENTURE series.

In between writing and her part-time jobs, K.L. Parry attends rock concerts, hikes with the Sierra Club and practices photography. You can view some of her photos on Flicker and ViewBug.
