My name is Josie Whitehead.

I am a retired teacher and well-published poet who writes for every age group, but love writing for children of all ages. My work went into 188 countries of the world last year. I have just completed my 1500th poem and I've been writing for eight years. My brand title of my work is "JOSIE'S POEMS". I tried to keep things simple, as young children wanted to be able to find my poems on the internet and I just said: "Google JOSIE'S POEMS". This has stuck!

So you see this brand name across the corner of my books and on my internet websites (5 of them) and it is a title well-known now worldwide.

I've brought back, in my writing, the classic style of poetry which was so popular in the days of my youth, ie that of Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear, Robert Louis Stevenson, Robert Frost, Christine Rossetti, Roald Dahl - - and all my favourite poets. I love poems written with rhyme and with rhythm, especially if they paint pictures with words or tell stories, and children tell me this is what they love also. Teachers also report back to me that they do too. So I would say that in this modern age, my poems stand out as perhaps a little unusual, but styles come and go, and I'm only following in the footsteps of the poets I loved. Other poets will prefer other styles, but this is mine, although for older children I write in a wide range of poetic styles.
