The earliest I can remember being in love with the written word was when I was 12 or 13. It happened during a creative writing assignment for English class - I discovered the prospect of creating characters, worlds, situations, and feelings, and letting my imagination run wild. I was ecstatic and passionate about writing.

The earliest I remember falling in love with horses was when I was about 8. To me, they are the epitome of what it means to be pure, honest, genuine, and to live in the moment.

These two loves of mine converged in my first children's book, titled "The Little Red Riding Book", which teaches the reader about horses throughout a fictional story about two kids who have their first horseback riding lessons. The book originally came out in 2007 in hardcover, and will be out in paperback in early 2011!

I also started my own publishing company, JB Max Publishing, and I am happy to announce that we will be releasing a new book by author Valerie Ormond, titled "Believing in Horses". It is about a young girl who believes she can make a difference in the lives of horses, all the while dealing with the challenges of having her father who has been deployed to Afghanistan - and of being a new horse owner herself.

Both "Believing in Horses" and "The Little Red Riding Book", paperback edition will be out in early 2011, and if you can't tell already, I'm extremely excited!
