Everything about Flora Over Flo-ws, especially the evidence of her love for the literary. Since winning recognition as a child in her first speech contest until today where she embarks on the promotion of her most recently co-authored book,(From Dying to Flying, by Linda Bell Hannah as Told to Flora Williams Anders,Trafford Publishers) Flora keeps the candle burning at both ends.

Chief Creative Officer and founder of Firm Foundations Literary Ministry LLC, Flora not only builds her own literary canon but she also assists and counsels others on how to find their own literary voice and push out to publish. She is a published poet (The Peculiar Peoples Poet), news journalist, book author and editor, mother, grandmother and Christian lay minister. That's just one end of her candle.

"The Peculiar Peoples Poet" is published in a poetry anthology now out of print (Messages from Black Women) and is also the author and performer on "NewFlora: Blossoming in the Garden of the King", a spoken word CD Project ministered with the complement of gospel jazz. On the CD, this artist offers her collection of poetry that spans her entire adult life. Flora is a member of Toastmasters International and is requested and available to speak to women's groups, youth organizations, writing seminars and community service organizations.

..and Flora's favorite home boy poet, Mr. Paul Laurence Dunbar himself declares her poet's perspective so eloquently with:

“I know why the caged bird sings, ah me, when his wing is bruised and his bosom sore; when he beats his bars and he would be free, it is not a carol of joy or glee, but a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core.”

Flora expresses her description of her writing life as did one of her favorite poets, Edna St. Vincent Millay:
"My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends It gives a lovely light!
