Christina Copuzeanu Simcic

I was born in Romania, in 1963, and the most I remember is the smell of Black Sea waters mixed up with the smell of fried fish, all together surrounded by my grandmother’s smiles and green-eyed looks….

I draw, paint, take photographs and love nature – all in one … glimpse of a person. A bachelor in Architecture, one in Fine Arts and another in Visual Merchandising helped educate the way of expressing my feelings.

We learn from Nature every time we have eyes to see it, ears to hear it and heart to appreciate it –
Living in a few countries by now gave me the opportunity to understand that we, as human structures, are most of the time altering Nature.
We create for us new possibilities; we expose ourselves to new conditions and terms of function. It is almost impossible to judge if every move is towards progress – but it is a change; as artists, we have to try to explore it and use it as inspiration, along with the unchanged part of Nature.

I don’t need the richness of an artistic linguistic vocabulary to describe what I see in that exact moment; I just take the photograph, complete the drawing, or... play with colors in different ways.

I am grateful that there are so many great artists, from which we can learn to See and Feel those moments, defining the wonder of our humanity.
