These days I've left teaching and am learning to become a farmer. I love it! Do visit our farm blog to learn more. In my most recent past incarnation, I taught middle school English in Arlington, MA. During the school year, I used to spend weekdays at middle school. Teaching eighth grade was my passion. So much happens for students during this time, and I've been lucky to be allowed to share the changes with one hundred-some-odd 13-turning-14-year-olds each year.In fact, a colleague and I have been perfecting a final research project each year over the last decade, and now we're thinking of writing it up to share. I'd love to hear from any middle or high school teachers who would consider tackling a biography research project (perhaps you already do). I've seen them undertaken in music, science, history, and the subject I teach, English language arts. If you might be interested in looking at our early plans and providing honest feedback, I would quickly feel indebted to you ... and you could turn to me with a writing-related request.Additionally, I've enjoyed reviewing books for VOYA (Voice of Youth Advocates) magazine for several years now. I love YA literature and enjoy matching reluctant YA's with the book that finally turns them on to reading.
