Irene Tsai, Ph.D. has worked as an engineer and has published articles in The World Book Encyclopedia for children and scientific journals. She was born in Taiwan and grew up in Queens, New York. She believes books can change lives. Indeed, books have directed, motivated, challenged and reassured her throughout her life. Growing up in Flushing, she spent many hours reading books in Chinese and English in Flushing Public Library and Chinese Culture Center. She credits her ability to communicate in Chinese and English to her mother who loved reading and watching traditional Chinese movie. Irene is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writer's and Illustrators.

CE Bilingual Books is an independent publisher. Our mission is to publish the highest quality Chinese-English bilingual books for children. In addition to teach children values of universal importance, the books aim to teach Chinese language, culture and history. Children will learn to read Chinese and English simultaneously. Studies have shown many benefits for children learning two languages at the same time. By exposing children to dual language literature, they will be more prepared for the future global market place.

CE Bilingual Book's story

Once upon a time, a free spirited Chinese American named Irene Y. Tsai. She had a dream. She always wanted to be an entrepreneur. After 10 years of being an engineer, she wanted to have a balanced life with family and decided to pursue her other passion – a business of her own. She started to write children's science articles and books. Irene's other career. She read and studied many children's books. She found very few children's bilingual books in Chinese and English. With a small personal savings and an enormous entrepreneurial spirit, she teamed up with Pattie Caprio and Joyce Lin. Together, she launched CE Bilingual Books in April 2007. Later on, other illustrator (Matthew Porter and Hui Min Liu) and Chinese writers and editors (Binni Chen, Yunong Zhou) joined CE Bilingual Books.
