I'm the author of three children's fantasy novels. "The Dreamkeepers" (Simon & Schuster) is the story of two children in Wales drawn into a struggle between ancient scribes called Dreamkeepers, who write down dreams, and an evil sorceress. Set in a frightening post-apocalyptic world, "The Owl Keeper" (Delacorte Press, 2010) follows two children on a journey in search of the mysterious Owl Keeper. In "The Scorpions of Zahir" (Delacorte Books for Young Readers, 2012), a girl who possesses an otherworldly stone travels to the Moroccan desert with her brother on a quest to save the ancient city of Zahir.

I wrote my first story at age seven about a dragon and, intrigued by the idea of “other worlds,” I spent much of my childhood dreaming up stories and reading books in trees (mostly fairy tales and fantasies, which I later read to my two sons).

After studying creative writing at Emerson College, Boston, I traveled and lived in Europe, where I met my husband Peter. I've worked as a free-lance writer, editor and teacher, and now write full-time. Peter and I divide our time between a small house by the sea near Boston and an old country house in Maine. We spend our winters in Buenos Aires. When not writing, I enjoy sailing, hiking, reading and exploring distant corners of Argentina.

My third book for Delacorte, "The Glass Puzzle," will be published in June 2013. I'm represented by Stephen Fraser of The Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency.
