Katie Cobb is the pen name for Linda Powley. She was born in Kansas City, but grew up in Baltimore and has traveled widely. Now, though, her roots are deeply set in Fort Worth, where she spends her days lost in imaginary worlds of characters and conflict. In 2002 her first novel HAPPENINGS appeared (HarperCollins under the pseudonym Katie Cobb) followed in 2004 by an educational book HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TAKS: ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS (Barron’s Educational Series). This August a second book from Barron’s is scheduled for release (ADVENTURES IN MATHOPOLIS, ESTIMATING AND MEASURING), soon to be followed by another book of the same series on fractions. She currently serves as Regional Advisor for the north central/northeast Texas chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writer’s and Illustrators, an international organization devoted to children’s literature. When not at the computer she reads -- cereal boxes, billboards, Stephen King novels, email, anything and everything. She loves long walks with her furry companion Miss Rose, a rescued Australian Cattle Dog, simple celebrations, -- tea parties and harvest dinners -- and small joys, like sunflowers, fall leaves, and the best joy of all: giggly kids.
