I was born in Milano, Italy, in 1963, the year of "Where the wild things are" by Maurice Sendak...That fabulous book is one of my earliest recollections.I was always good at drawing. When I was in kindergarden I made a great drawing of giraffes for the school art contest, but I did not win because my mother was in the organizer's board!I'm still angry for that humiliation.
I also loved reading and writing, so when I was a teen-ager I thought I wanted to become a journalist. Then I found out that drawing could be a profession, so I went to an illustration school in Milano.
At first I did illustrations for magazines, then I went to New York and attended a summer class on children's book illustration at the School of Visual Art. Since then, I married an illustrator, had three children and published a few books in between.
Now I try to be a good mother, wife,cook, housekeeper AND illustrator...ah, and I'm also an amateur singer in a choir.
