I'm Joan Betty Stuchner. I was born in England and have lived in Canada since 1965. One of my books, 'The Kugel Valley Klezmer Band,' is available in the U.S. and 'Josephine's Dream' will be published in the U.S in April 2008 - it's about the late, great Josephine Baker. She sang, danced, pulled crazy funny faces, was a war hero, a Civil Rights activist and adopted twelve children of every colour people can be. In other words, she was amazing. My chapter book, 'Honey Cake,' is available in Canada right now (Illustrated by Cynthia Nugent!) and will be released in the U.S. in August 2008. My picture book 'Sadie the Ballerina' has been nominated for the Shining Willow award. Google my name on images and you'll see me in my pink tutu!June 30th 2008Well, 'Sadie the Ballerina' didn't win the Shining Willow, but now 'Honey Cake' has been nominated for the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Assoc. award for 2009. It's nice to be nominated!'Josephine's Dream' is now on the shelves of bookstores in the U.S. and Canada. I love Chantelle Walther's illustrations. You will too.
