I thank all of you for your welcoming comments. I wish I had the time to respond more fully than I am going to respond here (and probably in the near future). My initial reason for entering myself on theJacketFlap website was to clarify the authorship of my book, which somehow was listed as my able and talented illustrator, Camille La Pointe.
I am hoping that a time slot will open that will permit me to continue to communicate with the members of this website. In the meantime, I shall check in from time to time.
Elizabeth my book can be found in some libraries, but I cannot tell you which ones. I am assuming the west-coast libraries will be more likely to carry a copy than east-coast ones, since most of my work, including that as a language-arts teacher (late-in-my- career-life endeavor) took place west coast. The book, available now only in soft-cover (hardbound editions are sold out) is available to purchase through me or through Barnes & Noble.
If you want to purchase through me, my preferred option, since I have the publisher's remainders, now, let me know. I can sell you a book @ $8.00 (it retails for $14) plus a little shipping. When Barnes & Noble receives orders for my book, they send those orders on to me. Thus I must ship to them. I lose money on any book I sell that way, although I am unconvinced that I make money, no matter what venue from which I receive orders. My income from this book came in its heyday and then primarily from the poetry program, which traveled, with me at the helm, as far as New York. Those were heady and wonderful days. I worked in public and private schools from Harlem to upscale private ones in the upper-east side. I am no longer well enough (or young enough) to do the bounce-around kind of work that my interactive poetry, complete with mostly handmade engaging props took. I have a grant to write an instruction manual for teachers, a commitment that I hope I can keep. Jacqueline Bandel
