My illustration career officially began in my early college years, though I’ve written and illustrated since my Play-Doh and finger-painting days. As a child, I won a young author’s award and ribbons for artwork.

My parents fueled my passion for storytelling, writing and artistic ways with a few art supplies, books, myriad cultural exposures, and my first blank, lined journal. The journal was quickly filled with my early stories and poetry. Another volume followed.

A current SCBWI member, I am published in magazines, multi-media and books for youth and adults, including stock, historic fiction, non-fiction, religious, and various works for arts organizations. I’ve illustrated heart-wrenching topics from a child mourning the death of a parent and teen suicide to a father’s struggle with sickness and death among his young children.

As an artist I embrace the Renaissance man and work in a range of media. Current artwork includes photo-realistic watercolor, abstract ink, and my award-winning surreal graphite Eve Series. I’ve worked in other media including oil, pastel, charcoal, oil pastel, stone and photography.

My full series of Eve drawings (at that time) were in New York for the opening of the world’s largest John Milton birthday celebration. I frequently exhibit mostly in NYC national and international juried exhibitions. In fall 2009 I was officially inducted into the prestigious National Association of Women Artists, NYC.

As guest artist I have taught my own specialized projects to 1st and 2nd graders that integrate art and writing.
