I just joined JacketFlap. I'm a high school Spanish teacher and I'm finishing up a Masters in Translation (Spanish -->English) at Kent State University. I'm looking for a text in Spanish that has not been translated that I can translate all or part of for my case study. I'm most interested in children's literature, short stories and novels. Do you have any suggestions as far as who to contact? Perhaps names of publishers whose books are written first in Spanish and then translated, or even authors, or perhaps yourself? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Alissa,

I am not sure I can help you. Although I am from Spain, my book Two Moon Princess (Tanglewood Press, 2007) is written in English. It is my understanding that you want to translate from Spanish into English.

You may want to contact publishers in Spain or other Spanish speaking countries. But I can’t help you there either.

Another suggestions is that you contact the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). They have a bulletin La Cometa for Spanish Books and Workshops news in Spanish.
