1. WARNING! Incredibly Long Post Ahead...

I got two awards.  In one day!

I wonder why that is?
Oh, this is why.  Makes sense now. :)

So first off, the Sunflower award.

Amanda and Bella both nominated me for this award.
Source

These are the rules.  Since I am a rebel, I will do everything except nominate eleven other bloggers, 'cause all the eleven I'd nominate probably already received this anyway.

Rule the First:  Share eleven facts about yourself.

Rule the Second:  Answer the questions set by your nomination blogger.

Rule the Third:  Nominate eleven bloggers.
Yeah. That's not happening. I'll nominate SOME.

Rule the Fourth:  Set questions for the nominated bloggers.

SOOOOOO.... First off, here are Eleven Facts About Me.

1.)  With my medical transcription training, I tend to double-space between periods now, in everything except novels I'm writing, 'cause for the most part Editors/Agents/Publishers don't like double-spacing.

2.)  I love watching music videos.

3.)  I have a hard time doing new things.
Source

4.) I usually run out of things to share around Number Four.
Source

5.)  I get depressed with popular young adult fiction and go back to my staple diet of Diana Wynne Jones, Patricia McKillip, and Tolkien's Farmer Giles of Ham and Smith of Wootton Major.
Source

6.)  I have taken to saying "Jeepers" a lot.  Not sure where that came from.

7.)  I don't even know how many books I own.  I think there were a hundred on one bookshelf in my bedroom, and there's got to be five?  six?  maybe even ten times that amount in the closet... and on other bookshelves... and under the bed... and in other sisters' rooms.
Mark Sheppard as Crowley

8.)  I find it amazing how many TV shows Mark Sheppard has played in.
Source

9.)  I was tempted to skip number 9 and see how many of you were devoted enough to read through all these "facts" in order to catch the missing number.  I resisted.  Aren't you proud?

10.)  Right now, one of my most favourite songs to listen to is POMPEII by BASTILLE.

11.)  I want Josh Groban to do another Kid Snippets video NOW!
Josh watches Kid Snippets, you guys!

Whew!
Source

Now for the questions from Amanda and Bella.

AMANDA'S QUESTIONS ~

1.) What's your favorite type of dog?
I freakin' LOVE German Shepherds!  But, if we're talking smaller dogs, I'm into Border Collie/Cocker Spaniel mixes, and Shiba Inus.
Shiba Inus TOTALLY look like foxes... minus the tail. :)

2.) Do you sing along to Doctor Who's theme song?
TOTALLY!!

Source

3.) What does Tahiti make you think of?
This:
Source

4.) How did Moriarty fake his death?
Source
'Nough said.

5.) Who's your favorite Superhero.
Iron Man.
Source
6.) If you could choose a superhero name, what would you call yourself?
Hmmm.... I'd probably end up sticking with Cat.  Ooh, I know.  Panther. Cat Panther.  That's my superhero name.

7.) You can travel back in your timeline, and only your timeline. What would you re-visit?
March 27th, 2007, August 24, 2011, and October 6, 2013... because those were the times we saw Josh Groban in CONCERT. And end of April to beginning of May 2013, 'cause that's when we went to Scotland. And every single Christmas Eve and Christmas in the history of my life.

There's Amanda's questions answered. Exciting, wasn't it?
Source

BELLA'S QUESTIONS ~

1) Do you like Daylight Savings Time?
I like when Daylight Savings Time ENDS, and we gain an hour.  Otherwise I'm like:
Source

2) What is one really good series which you have just discovered?
Book series?  Um, how recently?  I'd say The 100 Cupboards was good, though technically that's a trilogy and not really a series.

3) Are you a subtle fan-girl or more of a loud excited fangirl like me?
I believe I am subtle.
Source

4) Hamburgers or Hot dogs?
Definitely hamburgers.

5) Do you like wearing sweaters or do you prefer hoodies?
I'm more of a sweater person.  I'm not crazy about hoodies on myself, because I feel totally gangsta in them.  However, I like hoodies on other people.
Source

6) Do you like going out in the evening?
I hope you like the caption  :-P

7) Did you ever play Truth or Dare and did you like it?
You mean Interrogation or Humiliation? *See question six's gif for your answer.*

And that's the Sunflower Award!  Thanks again to Amanda and Bella for the nomination!

I nominate:
Allyn
Nessie
John the Hedgehog

My questions for youse all:
1.)  Do you prefer Arabic or Roman numerals?
2.)  Do you watch My Little Ponies?
3.)  What's the absolute stupidest thing you've ever done?
4.)  What's your idea of the best car?
5.)  What's the worst thing you can imagine?
6.)  Do you know what gif stands for?
7.)  Be honest... did you have to Google "gif" in order to answer question 6 intelligently?

Have fun! :)

And Now...
 Drumroll, please...
Source

I also received the Liebster Award from Rose M.

Le Rules for Le Reward:

Uno: Acknowledge the blog that nominated you. Thank you, Rose from The Golden Road!

Dos: Answer the 11 questions the nominating blogger created.

Tres: List 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers that deserve some recognition.

Quatro: Post 11 questions for them to answer.

Cinco: Notify them that they've been nominated.

Alrighty! ROSE'S QUESTIONS ~

1.)  An anonymous someone drops a note on your front porch saying that they will fund a trip to either England, an African Safari, Prince Edward Island, or Italy. Which do you choose? Why?
Italy.  Why?  Because it's freakin' ITALY!
Source

2.)  You're being forced to re-do your room. What color do you paint it?
THIS:
Source

3.)  Do you have a particular song that you listen to often, but it never seems to get old? If so, what is it?
Yes.  Yes I do.

4.)  Would you rather be lounging in the sun on the beach reading a good book or adventuring in the waves?
Ooh, choices, choices... I'd do both.  Read a little in the sun, and go for a swim, and read a little in the sun, and go for a swim, and read a little in the sun, and... you get the picture, right?

5.)  You suddenly end up with two twin kittens. One is a girl; one is a boy. What do you name them?
Sam and Jess.

6.)  You're organizing a get together with friends. Would you choose a picnic or a movie night?
Definitely a movie night.  Less small talk.  LOL

7.)  What is your pet peeve?
BADLY WRITTEN YA AND MG NOVELS!!!
Source

8.)  Is there a new hobby you've been wanting to try out?
Source
 I fancy archery.

9.)  If you could pick one instrument that you would (without any effort on your part) instantly master, which would you choose?
Pan pipes.

10.)  Would you like to be snowed inside for a week?
*See John Watson gif used in Bella's question number 6.*

11.)  Pick the closest book to you that you've read. Who is your favorite character in the book?
Right now, the book closest to me that I've read is The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax, and my favourite character in that book is John Sebastian Farrell.

I DID IT, Y'ALL!!

And now I nominate:

My questions for YOUSE all:
1.)  What fandom do you "belong" to?
2.)  Would you fight to the death someone who bashes one of your favourite characters?
3.)  Would you use daggers for subtlety, or swords for an all-out "COME AT ME, BRO!" battle?
4.)  What do you do when someone tells you that you have pepper in your teeth?
5.)  To you, what's more awesome... climbing trees, or writing stories?
6.)  Have you ever secretly wished you were a unicorn?
7.)  When you drink tea, do you prefer a mug or a bone china cup?
8.)  What's your opinion on Alka-Seltzer?
9.)  If you are an Agents of SHIELD fan, or a Marvel fan, or just a superhero fan, which agent/superhero do you think you'd be?
10.)  Do you have a lucky number?
11.)  WHY do you have a lucky number?!  (Those of you who replied No to question 10, Why DON'T you have a lucky number?!!

And that's that.
http://kotwg.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.htmlI'm AWESOME!

Hope you all had fun with that, and we'll see you next time!

2. Fusenews: Like you for always *shudder*

Actually, that little icon here is a touch misleading, but I took it since it talks about our first news item of the day.  This l’il here ole blog got itself nominated for an Edublog Award, which is mighty nice.  SLJ wrote an article about me and my fellow nominees, Joyce Valenza’s NeverEndingSearch, Karyn Silverman and Sarah Couri’s Some Day My Printz Will Come, and Angela Carstensen’s Adult Books 4 Teens.  I’m in the Best Individual Blog category along with Joyce.  Let’s face it, though.  Joyce actually does discuss education on a regular basis (far more than I do), which is the point of the award as I see it.  Therefore, if you’d stop over and vote for her along with my other nominees (preferably before the 13th), I’d appreciate it.

  • Speaking of accomplished folks getting noticed, our own Mary Ann Scheuer of Great Kid Books (I call her “our own” since she speaks at Kidlitosphere Conferences regularly) spoke on Boston’s NPR show Here & Now about book apps for kids.  Woman knows her stuff.
  • Marjorie Ingall manages to locate two wall decals of infinite peculiarity.  One is just weird.  The other will undoubtedly be the bane of many a child’s life, possibly haunting them well into their adulthood.  Fun!
  • So what, precisely, is up with that The Graveyard Book movie?  Waking Brain Cells has the skinny.
  • Let’s chalk this next one up to Books for Adults That Look Like They’re For Kids.  I am speaking, naturally, about Honey Badger Don’t Care by Randall.  Oh, it may look like children’s fare, but if you’re familiar with the YouTube sensation (I only recently learned about it myself, so don’t feel bad if you haven’t seen it) then you’ve got the gist of the book.  Long story short, it has nothing to do with James Odone’s far sweeter picture book Honey Badgers.
  • It’s one thing to find out that your childhood idol and author is still alive.  It’s another thing entirely to give that person the respect and honor they never found on his own.  Marc Tyler Nobleman

3. Blog Award

My "R" post is coming, I promise. It may come a day late, tho. Anyway, I just wanted to thank Nicole at The Madlab Post for giving me the Stylish Blogger Award.

Awards,A to Z Challenge
It's a "pay-it-forward" kind of award, so there are rules.

To accept the award, you have to do the following:
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 10-15 blogs who you think deserve this award.
4. Contact these bloggers and let them know about the award.

Since today's A to Z Challenge post is all about me, you'll see the facts about me in my next post. I have LOTS of blogs I enjoy visiting. I just don't know whether the ones I pick would mind or not. Some blogs aren't really into blog awards. I don't know, BUT, never hurts to let them know, right? So, blogs I think deserve this award...

Traci's Mixed Bag
This Journey Called Life
The Pinkk Zebraa
Pearls of Amicus

4. Case of the Missing Blog

Last Wednesday my blog disappeared. Now it's back. Blogger really screwed the pooch on this one. Something to do with hacking or infiltration and the world almost ending. And guess who ended up fixing the problem?  I'll give you a hint.  Not Blogger.

You can chalk up Blog Fixer to my short list of abilities.  It'll look good on my resume next to Bird Nest Admirer and Funny Face Maker (According to an eight month-old). I'm hereby giving Blogger their first ever award. I've already named it:

THE SCREWED THE POOCH  BLOGGER AWARD!

I'm enjoying the Kindle. Still sampling a lot, buying a little. I'm a tough reader to please, now that I can sample first chapters and more. It better be good or I'm hitting delete. If it's good, it better be REAL good to make me push BUY. Lately, I've kept this in mind while writing.  I'm going to hang a banner next to my computer. Well, banners don't really fit on laptops, but you get the picture.  It'll look something like this:

IT BETTER BE REAL GOOD.

Home sick today with LC. I've been keeping Kleenex in business, and he's had a fever.  More importantly, he has a cross between a Dutch Boy due and a Trump comb-over (when unbrushed).  Wish you could see it.  Oh yeah, you can.  Because my blog is back.

6. Awards, Awards

Since Sunday is Oscar day, I thought this would be a good time to pay attention to my blog awards. The Silver Lining Award is from Lisa over at Why A? So many thanks to Lisa.

I like the idea of a silver lining, especially since I'm thinking spring these days despite the record breaking snow in South Jersey.

And here's another award:

It's the Creative Liar Award by Bish. You are supposed to tell six outrageous lies (aren't most lies outrageous?) and one truth, put the award on your blog, thank and link to the person. So thanks to Bish, and here goes.

1. I am writing a novel involving a German shepherd, a teenager, a compass, an enchanted map, and a hidden, mystical land. I am about halfway done and not one, but two agents, are interested in repping it.

2. I only have one kidney. I lost the other to gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my last baby.

3. I once told a NYC agent that I didn't want to be represented because I was never going to write novels. At the time he contacted me, I had just begun to write short stories, I had three kids under the age of six, and I couldn't imagine how he could "see" that I was going to become a novelist on the basis of a 1500 word short story. I explained how I could write a page or two a week. I thought he was nuts and stopped returning his phone calls.

4. At the age of 15, I rowed almost completely across New York Harbor alongide a ferry boat. I turned around when I saw a Harbor Patrol boat.

5. One of my best friends is Sam, is a transsexual who channels Anna Nicole.

6. My oldest son is joining the Navy in July, two weeks after high school graduation.

Can you spot the one true statement?

Now, onto the nominees. For both awards, I am going to nominate Mary, KC, Katie and Sarah Frances at PlotThis, Marcia and Shelley. They can play if they want; no pressure if they don't.

Let's see who can guess the truth...

7. Another Award (Lucky Me)

I've been given another award by Paul Michael Murphy: The Over the Top Award for Blogging Excellence.  And I have one thing to say to Paul (in Shakespearean speak):

10. Honest Scrap Award

It's Awards Day again. This one goes to some hard-working writers, all of whom have shown me a thing or two about the daily slog.

And here's today's childhood reading memory to go along with the award:

In elementary school, my librarian hosted an annual reading contest. She'd hang a kite on the ceiling of our library and run a string from its end that wove back and forth over every secton of the room.

With each book a child read, she added a bow to the string to build the kite's tail. There might have been an award (maybe one bow had a special sticker on the back, or some such thing), but it was nothing memorable. There was no big ceremony or prizes. What thrilled me was to see my bows added to the looping tail, to stand under it and see my name scattered across the room.

It was so exciting as a kid to be a part of this simple little program. Thank you, Mrs. Roybald, for your hand in shaping me as a reader.

And here are the winners:

Jody Helund of Author, Jody Helund  Jody, was your blog originally called On the Path?
Carrie Heim Binas of Heim Binas Fiction
Debra L. Schubert of Write on Target

Stop by today and see what they have to say!

11. Best Blog Award

It's awards day again. That means one fun fact about my childhood reading life and five new blogs to visit.

I used to love to play Nancy Drew. Sometimes I was Nancy, and sometimes I was Helen or George. My friend and I would clomp around in her mother's high heels, carrying ancient thrift-store purses. We were never really sure about the mystery we were solving, but that didn't stop us from gathering clues: receipts found in gutters, old cigarette butts, a rock kicked across the sidewalk, we'd collect them all.

Later, after our march around the block, we'd empty our purses and dig through our finds. Somehow, the mystery would all come together due to our fabulous sluething skills.

And here are the winners of the Best Blog award:

1.  Julie of  Literary Jules
2.  Susan Quinn of Ink Spells
3.  Lily Cate at The Literary Lily Cate
4.  Jenny at twentybyjenny

Winners, please select five other blogs to award, and congratulations!

12. And The Kreativ Blogger Award Goes To...

Thank you to those of you who have recently given me blog awards. I've been really terrible about passing these on, but no more! The next few Thursdays I'll get to work.

I'm going to break the rules a bit. Instead of sharing seven things about myself, over the weeks I'll give you book-related fun facts from my childhood. Here goes:

I was devistated when I learned Laura Ingalls Wilder didn't acutally type and create the books  I personally owned. When you dad tells you Laura wrote your books, how can you believe anything different?

And the award goes to...

Krista at Krista's Reflections
PJ at ROOTS IN MYTH
TerryLynn at TerryLynnJohnson
Rachael at The Slow-Cooked Sentence
Solvang Sherrie at Write About Now

Stop by these great blogs sometime today!

13. Thankful

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.

You get to eat great food (and by food I mean dessert!), hang out with family and friends, and the only gift you have to bring is the pleasure of your company. Can't beat that!

Since my kitchen is out of commission this year we're going to my sister-in-law's house. (We're getting new counter tops so I've had no sink or stove for the last two weeks!) The kids get to see some of their cousins (woohoo!) and we won't have to eat leftovers for the next month. I consider that a good thing :)

If you've read this blog for a while, you know I'm thankful for my kids, my family and, of course, books! So here are a few things you might not expect me to be grateful for this Thanksgiving:

Wii -- Watching my kids teach their grandparents how to golf, bowl and play tennis yesterday was a riot. And seeing them cheer when Grandma scored a strike reminded me that there are all kinds of ways to bond with family.

Paper Plates
-- I don't usually use them (I'm trying to reduce my footprint and all) but when the only place to wash the dishes is the bathtub, paper plates make me very happy indeed.

H1N1
-- Because of this supposed "pandemic" people are doing something they should have been doing all along...washing their hands. How lame that it takes a life-threatening illness for people to use soap!

DSL -- Remember when graphics made web pages slow to load? Now you can stream entire videos across the internet with barely a pause. How cool is that!

I'm incredibly thankful for the internet, because without it I wouldn't have met all the wonderful bloggers in this amazing community I stumbled into last year. Thanks to all of you for making this journey so much fun!

And now to share some love with other bloggers, here are a couple of awards that I need to pass on.

Steph in the City gave me the Splish Splash Award for a dazzling blog. Thanks, Stephanie! I'm passing this one on to Julie at Silver Lining and to Shelli at the Storyqueen's Castle.

Dawn at Plotting and Scheming was kind enough to give me the Best Blog Award. Thanks, Dawn! I'm supposed to pass this on to other bloggers that I've recently discovered and think are great! I'm giving this one to my critique partner Lori who recently started to blog, and to Tabitha at Writer Musings -- I can't believe it took me so long to discover your fabulous blog!

14. Thank You

I can't believe I forgot to post this earlier, but when going through my blog archives I realized I hadn't. Ugh. I hate it when what's in my head never makes it to the page.

Anyway, I got two emails last week from the Book Blogger Appreciation Week committee telling me I had been nominated in two categories: Most Concise and Most Extravagant Giveaways. I have to admit that I had to look up what the first one meant exactly. Guess I'm not the chatty type?

So I just want to say thank you, especially to those out there who nominated me. Never in my wildest dreams would I think I would get nominated. And although I might not win (I probably won't), it touches my heart so much that you'd think of me anyway. It's all of you who've made this blog what it is, and I thank you very much for it.

So let me say it again: THANK YOU!

You really made my day. So you can continue to help out by spreading the word about the blog, leaving me comments, and most of all, keep reading. Because a blog without readers really feels kind of empty. :)

15. Counting Down and Two Awards

I can't believe it's two days away.

I've tried to figure out specifically what I'm so excited about. Much as I'd like to return home with a signed contract in hand, I'm realistic enough to realize that's not going to happen. So what do I expect to happen?

I expect to meet a lot of writers I've only known through the blogosphere.
I expect to get some books signed (hopefully, without being too much of a fan girl!)
I expect to be overwhelmed with information.
I expect to be inspired.

I'm really looking forward to these four days. I'll try to post while I'm there, but I'm making no guarantees. And of course, if I do end up with a contract (ha!) you'll be the first to know =)

----------------------------------

On a completely different note, I was touched and amazed to receive two blogging awards in the last week. Thanks, guys! And since I'm supposed to pass them on, here goes!

The first is the "Humane Award" for blogs that love writers and laughter in equal measures. Thanks, Glam! I'm awarding this to:

Carrie Harris (snarfalicious!)
Lisa and Laura (D-Bag-o-Meter. Nuff said.)
Tess Hilmo (She always makes me smile)
Corey Schwartz (To read her is to love her)
T. Anne (this post had me rolling!)

Pass it on to five more, ladies. Here are the rules (scroll to August 2009.)

The second award is for the "Superior Scribbler." Thanks, Kelly H-Y! I am awarding this one on to:

Elana J (Brilliant writer!)
Casey McCormick (Love those Agent Spotlights!)
Yat-Yee Chong (Always thoughtful and insightful)
Myra McEntire (Funny and honest)
Jolie Stekly (Cuppa Jolie, anyone?)

17. Thanks for the Awards

It's Saturday, which means it's time to say goodbye to New Features week. Hmmm. That sentence makes me feel like I'm in the Mickey Mouse Club (and now it's time to say goodbye...)

Anyway, back on topic. I hope you've enjoyed the look at all the new stuff I'm implementing this month. Today I want to catch up on all the wonderful blog awards people have given me in the past few weeks. I'm shamefully behind on these, so I'm not going to tag anyone, but if you're reading this message consider yourself tagged for all these awards. You are all awesome in my book.

The reason this counts for New Features week is because these awards will eventually go into the sidebar (probably the left one) later to show my everlasting gratitude for everyone who made them available.

So without further ado, here we go:

Thank you to both Liyana and Bingo who gave me the One Lovely Blog Award.

Senfaye over at A Maze of Books passed on the Let's Be Friends Award. According to her post "blogs that received the Let’s Be Friends Award are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers." That's so sweet! Thank you Senfaye!

Wendy at Wendy's Minding Spot and Book ♥ Soulmates both nominated me for the Literary Blogger Award. This lovely award "acknowledges bloggers who energize & inspire reading by going the extra mile. These amazing bloggers make reading fun & enhance the delight of reading!" Thank you Wendy!

Liyana tagged a whole bunch of people for awards on her blog. Thank you Liyana, and check out her post to see if you're on the list too!

Thank you again to everyone! That concludes New Features week. Tomorrow will commence with the last monthly feature, the May Site Searches. From there on, who knows! Let me know what you think of all the new stuff too.

18. The Friendly Blogger And Zombie Chicken Awards

Sandee at Comedy Plus nominated me for not one, but two, ultimately fabulous awards. The first is The 2009 Friendly Blogger Award from Colleen at Short Stories in the Making.

Don't you love this awards design? And what an honor it is to receive it from one of the coolest bloggers in the blogosphere. Thank you Sandee! ( I rarely use exclamation points. I keep them in reserve for special bloggers like you.)

Click because there's more to come...

The Second Award from my buddy Sandee at Comedy Plus is the (get ready for this one, folks.) The Zombie Chicken Award, passed to Sandee from Sandi at Nothing Off Limits
Although this award may seem silly, I would advice you to take it seriously... You'll see what I mean after you read the rules...thank you again, Sandee, I'm truly honored.

The rules of the zombie chicken say...

"The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all…"

Do you see what I mean? First, let me say how honored I am, (as any writer would be) to receive an award that contains these silly heartwarming words, "their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words."

I feel like framing it and hanging it on my wall..no kidding....

I took my time in choosing the following recipients for both of these incredible awards, because of how special they are, in addition, I didn't want to risk the wrath of zombie chickens if I didn't "choose wisely."

(I'm sorry I haven't the slightest idea how or why The Disobedient Chicken who lives in my sidebar is... excuse me, "Not where she belongs. Pardon me, little chicken..." Oh, forget it, just ignore her, she is not an award.

Alright, I nominate the following blogger's for both of these ultra cool awards:

(Some of these bloggers may have already received this award, but I wanted to express the way I feel about their content, as well as their friendship; so, they'll have two awards. Hey, you can have two Academy Awards...so there-

Congratulations to the following:

Bev at Merry Weather
Ettarose at Sanity On Edge
Sandee at Comedy Plus and Blogging By Sandee
Dawn at Twisted Sister

Eric/Speedy at The Speedcat Hollydale Page

Maunie at Mauniejames 2

Daisy (and Harley too) at Daisy The Curly Cat

Babs at Beetle's Memories 'N' Ramblings
Grace at Hugz Before You Go...
The Retired One at The Retirement Chronicles

Marie at Nourish: Living, Laughing, Whining

Mother Maitri at Maitri's Heart

Girlie Geek at girliegeek
Bud at WTIT: The Radio Blog

I could go on and on, and I'm sorry that I went overboard, but there are so many bloggers out there that fit in both of these award categories that I couldn't stop. If your name is not listed here, it's probably due to the fact that I have another award in mind for you.

While I was out, I was blessed enough to receive many awards that I haven't had a chance to pass along...Therefore, I decided to have an awards day every Monday in an effort to post each and every one of them. I'm grateful to all of you who have acknowledged my work, thus, if your blog is not listed here, I didn't forget you. Remember, every Monday will be awards day on A Nice Place In The Sun for some time-

Congratulations and forgive me for passing out more than five awards...Oh ...I hope that doesn't mean I will have to brave a raving pack of zombie chickens- I wonder if that is why the Disobedient Chicken is hanging around...Do you suppose she is has been assigned some sort of chicken watch?

20. A Fresh Sea Breeze

With the arrival of autumn a few weeks ago, the air started to cool here in Florida. On my pre-dawn walks each morning, I can feel a fresh sea breeze clearing out the hot, humid air of summer, replacing it with the promise of cooler days to come. With autumn, too, came the start of the book award season. The Cybils--a fresh, new award combining literary quality with kid appeal and bringing together

21. The Ripple Effect

Every writer wonders, I suspect, if his or her words create any ripples... and if those ripples ever reach the hearts of readers. Over the past year, I know, there were days--more days than I care to admit--when I felt like my words made no sound whatsoever. As I tossed them into the pond, they simply sank to the bottom without creating so much as a ripple. On the most difficult of days, I
