What a wonderful summer day! I spent the afternoon napping and reading a book. The clouds darkened the skies and a gentle rain ensued for the good part of about 6 minutes! I do love summer days and WEEKENDS!
Deadlines for art submissions have passed and there has come this summer season of looking for new ideas. Crunch time gives way to the relaxed season in which i can play with the wonders of my imagination.
How do I get ideas? I plow through magazines, books, stores, websites, looking for something to inspire. Color combinations, trends, shapes, textures charge me up! I am always careful NOT to steal ideas. But one idea may spawn a new one in my mind.
As far as writing ideas? They most often come to me on my walks. I have to be sure to bring paper and pen.
And so I thank you summer months! For your green leaves, spectacular flowers, fruits and veggies in the garden and warm moon lite nights. Summer bounty spills into my studio! I love it!
...Yeah, isn't it? I could say I am convalescing if I had been sick. But writer's block hasn't been grouped under any diseases or disorders so far. But, this is something I am saying to convince myself that I will get back to writing soon. But this has been pretty bad. Let me put it out frankly. I haven't been writing the novels at all. Today, I wrote a paragraph of the new novel I had begun. But, how huge a thing is that? Not really much work. But it took some effort. Because may be, convalescence is tougher than the illness.
Anyway, I have been promising myself to be good to myself and yesterday, just out of the blue, I took out a new plan. Positive Thinking Days. Starting from yesterday, I would update my status with a positive thought about myself, my life or situation or whatever that comes to my mind (That's what they want anyway).
So yesterday, I wrote:

I Love Being A Writer. And A Promising One At That. :)
And today, I updated:
Positive Thinking : Day 2:
I Pray For Those Who Left Me To Have A Great Life That Was Worth Leaving Me.
Because, A Great Life Is What My Freedom Gave Me. ;) :)

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the samehospital room.
One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for anhour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.
His bed was next to the room's only window.
The other man had to spend all his time flat onhis back.
The men talked for hours on end.
They spoke of their wives and families, theirhomes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they hadbeen on vacation..
Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by thewindow could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate allthe things he could see outside the window.
The man in the other bed began to live for thoseone hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all theactivity and color of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake
Ducks and swans played on the water while childrensailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers ofevery color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.
As the man by the window described all this inexquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyesand imagine this picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon, the man by the windowdescribed a parade passing by.
Although the other man could not hear the band -he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed itwith descriptive words.
Days, weeks and months passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring waterfor their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, whohad died peacefully in his sleep.
She was saddened and called the hospitalattendants to take the body away.

Here is are my little characters Camille and Winston. I must tell you that I love
creating characters. They live in my head until they are expressed through pen
and ink and watercolor onto paper. Creating characters gives us a chance to express ourselves
as well. Maybe relive your childhood through a character. Or create that person that you would like to be or someone that you remember from the past.
It gives us the ability to play and dream! I encourage ALL of
our WAWE members to really try to do this prompt. You never know what magic
YOU will create that could possibly be the beginnings of a great story book, animation short,
greeting card line, or even toy! And you don't know who or how you will inspire other members. he he he he! Happy creating!!
