an attempt to do a portrait of someone famous. colour pencils, not watercolour pencils this time, i tried some new ones. i need more practice, that equals TIME.
later i'll if i can find who the rights of the origunal pic belong to, then add it here, as obviously i didn't take it ;)

wow, I been out of touch lately I guess. had lots to do by the end of the year with school and work, then went to the seaside for 10 days, so here i am, in the heat of the city again...
these are a couple of works i did last december for a final exam... on teaching :S
i'll see if i can scan some others of this series later

i felt like going back in time when i drew more realistic but have lost training... it took me about three hours and i still see it unfinished.

Originally uploaded by dibujandoarte this year I want to paint mostly in gouache. i started this composition last monday in class. i'm supposed to finish it tomorrow. i like how it looks now, but i have the feeling that when i complete it it will look awful... that's why i wanted to post it now, before that happens.=)

january sun appearing among the foliage of the garden, then its light making shapes among the shadows of the trees, as if asking to be painted.
that magic instants captured in the chip of a camera till now, when lights, shadows and shapes try to be, once again, in the illusion of a painting but keeping the remembrance of that moment.

i'm attending an 8-weeks-summer course at a museum, which has a wonderful Andaluz garden (as a garden in Andalucía - Spain). the teacher makes us see the shapes, the contrasts, the colours, without making details which is too difficult for me, because I always tend to go till the most tiny detail if I can. working with watercolurs in the last years has helped me in that, though in this case, these two works i did this mornig, i used oil pastels to make some shapes then blurred it with turpentine and a strong brush and kept on adding more oil pastel, tried to blend it in some places and not in others.

HB-2B-6B pencils - 50x70cm. did it to make up for two drawing classes i was absent.
