Well, I just opened a cute little animals new shop at CafePress.com.
Here are some products you can find there: T-shirts, sweatshirts, baby clothes, Ipad and Ipod cases, buttons, stickers, caps, prints, wall decor, mugs, accessories, pet bowls, cards, bags, postcards, magnets, etc.
Been doing some fussy gardening chores. Or I should say "having them done".
My newest obsession is black bark. I love the way it looks and smells in the beds. It used to be shoes that gave me that special feeling ~ now its bark. Go figure.
I should have done 'before' and 'after' pics, but then you'd have seen the before, and that was the whole reason to get this done in the first place.
Doesn't look like much to you I imagine, but I can't stop staring and grinning all silly-like. No weeds, no errant fig tree going all crazy, no grasses, no sad "what is that plant anyway?" kind of stringy things.
And here is this wonderful bit of nature, which the hummingbirds and ants both love, equally. The pods are kind of cool ~ they hold seeds. In the winter when the plant goes bare, just the pods are left hanging there and its kind of bizarre looking.
I love the little solar lights too, and wait anxiously for it to get dark enough for them to come on. I know, you're thinking "Gee, she needs to get a life". But its so cool when you get up during the night for some reason, and have a look out the window, and there are all these cheery little lights smiling back at you.
I've been updating my CafePress shop, putting in art that I've had for a while, and don't know why I've never put on products before. I have a lot more I'd like to do, and will be fiddling with it when I have an 'in between' hour here and there when I need a break from knitting or other art.
I really love the way these tomatoes look (without the copyright notice, of course),
and also the way this bit of pen and inking looks on some pieces.
I forgot how much I like doing pen and ink work like that. Its slow, of course, like everything else I like to do. When will I find a 'fast' technique that I love?

7 days left until the Ypulse Youth Marketing Mashup East! We just added a new exhibitor: The Passion Group. And heads up: Virgin Mobile will be making a very big press announcement….

Cafe Press has pet bowls now. Kinda cute, no? You could get a "C" for the cat and "D" for the dog. Or a generic "P" for pet. I dunno.
I'm trying to get my shop all updated as we speak. It takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r. Really.
I have the Black yarn "P" almost done, and added some new products in the Chartres Labyrinth Mosaic Section. And have plans to add to and update everything. So maybe by the end of the weekend I'll get there (and watch, the minute I'm done, they'll go "Hey! We just added 6 more cool products!" and then I'll have to start in again.
~~~~~~
I finished my sketches for the little bunny book and am really happy with them. Wish I could show them! Oh well.
I wanted to pop in to an art fair that's going on this weekend. Not sure if I'll make it. The gardener is coming tomorrow morning with a rototiller to dig up a sad patch of lawn in the backyard, which will get replaced with new grass and pavers and stuff next week.
And I have other art to do!
So this weekend is kind of up in the air. Its one of those with too many things on the to-do list, and it will be interesting to see which ones actually get done!
Well, you're in luck!!! (Says intentionally obnoxious Avery)
We have t-shirts! Book bags! TEDDY BEARS! (Seriously) Plus, a bunch more! (Insert annoying emoticon, etc. here)
So here
it is. Our Cafe Press site.
Enjoy! Any proceeds go to more books for more Evil Cousin reviews.
Happily, obnoxiously, and trying not to be salesman-ly....
PS: Send us a picture of yourself in your Evil paraphernalia...we just may post you as our honorary long-lost Evil Cousin of the month.
Happy 2008! I hope everyone had a safe and joyous New Year! I am really excited for everything I have planned during the upcoming year. For starters, I’m continuing to improve upon and add different features to my website. I just recently discovered a site called cafepress.com which allows you to design all sorts of personalized things from T-shirts, to tote bags! I thought this was really neat since I like to design and create, and so I decided to open up my own Laura and the Leprechauns gift shop so you can browse my latest creations at your leisure. I will be updating designs and merchandise offered periodically, so if there is something specific you are looking for—a favorite character or slogan, or illustration from the book—please don’t hesitate to let me know. I would be happy to add it to future designs. Right now I think you’ll find that there is quite a wide variety of things to choose from. You can locate the gift shop directly at: http://www.cafepress.com/chrysalispress or access it through www.chrysalispress.com. Just select the “Gift Shop” button at the bottom of the page and it will redirect you to the store. I hope you will enjoy all the shop has to offer. As always I look forward to hearing your feedback and opinions, so feel free to drop me a line at [email protected]. I’ll be in touch soon!
Sincerely,
Amber
Miss Snark,
Forgive me for quibbling, because I count myself as one of your many fans, but in a recent post you misused the term "begs the question." To "beg the question" is to engage in a specific type of logical fallacy; and logic is taught in the philosophy department . . . where I hang out.
In a phrase, to beg the question is to include one's conclusion in one's premise. And that wasn't what you meant to suggest; what you meant to say was that such-and-such raises the question, or that it "begs" for a particular question to be asked.
Not knowing me and, therefore, having no reason to believe my explanation, please go to any logic or philosophy site on the Net and verify it.
Misuse of this term is a pet peeve of mine, something that drives me totally bonkers, even though it's misused by countless people. I've heard Keith Olbermann make the same error; I've heard Wolf Blitzer, Susan Estrich and Mark Shields do it. In fact, the only journalist I've heard go out of his way to use it properly is Jeff Greenfield.
Again, I admire your column, and apologize if I came off like some crazy purist.
Crazy purists are the guys who have fistfights about why Sean Connery is the "only true James Bond" and why Bach can only be truly appreciated on period instruments.
Telling someone (even Miss Snark) they used a phrase incorrectly is called "editing" here at Snark Central.
Anyway, I looked it up.
HereAnd you're right, I'm wrong.
I actually thought it meant that it didn't answer the question but that's a mistake for another day.
Add this one to "dragoon", which turns out not to be a contingent but just one guy.
I'm sure there are others, and dog willing, more to come.
It’s more fun to shop when it benefits others…and brings back good memories of PiBoIdMo. Thanks for this…I’ll go shopping while I collect great ideas!
Woohoo! Off to find something fabulous!
Actually, I do need a hot cup of java to get things going. Where’s the #PiBoIdMo special blend?
OMG! I just checked the shop out and can not decide what to get. Too much fun stuff!
Awesome!
Fantastic idea, fantastic causes, and how great to be able to have something tangible to remember this incredible experience. Off to shop!
Ooh I fancy the t-shirt. What a great idea!
Love this. The mug, the shop, the causes…the librarian in me is rooting for Mount Prospect. Kids deserve great libraries!
Tara, any possibility of a Hoodie? LOVE the logo (as I love this whole crazy thing!) My husband has already warned me that I’m banned from using the acronym in his presence – apparently I’ve been name-dropping a bit.
I definitely want to buy a journal! I’m just not sure what a task journal looks like. Please forgive my complete ignorance. Can anyone enlighten me? How different will it be from a college-ruled lined notebook?
