In honor of National Poetry Month, we’ve dug up a video of YouTube star Hank Green reciting his original poem, “Grab It By The Testicle.” The video embedded above has drawn over 400,000 views.

Green wrote this piece “for the college and high school graduates of the year 2011 (and future years as well…I believe it all applies).” Recently, Green received a request for a new poem during a Reddit A.M.A. session—what do you think?

Hank Green, brother to The Fault in Our Stars novelist John Green and one half of the creators behind the Vlogbrothers YouTube Channel, has created a video called “Ranting about Books.”

In the video embedded above, Green shares his complaints on the way books are being published. Some of his gripes include:

• Sharing spoilers on the jacket flap copy.
• Not explicitly printing the series title for books that belong in a series.
• Book covers featuring “decapitated YA fiction ladies.”

In the video embedded above, YA writer John Green revealed the title for his new book (The Fault in Our Stars) and promised to sign every single one of the 150,000 books in the first print run.

Even though the manuscript is currently unfinished and the cover has yet to be finalized, the title hit #1 on the Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com bestseller list recently. Green said the publication date has been moved up from May 2012 to January 2012. The author will be video-recording himself throughout the entire signing process; the video will be available on the Vlogbrothers YouTube channel he shares with his brother, Hank Green.

Here’s more from Green’s announcement: “I am doing this because 1. I like my readers, and 2. I want to find a way to thank them for choosing to read my books in this media-saturated world, and 3. I can’t tour everywhere, and it seems weird to preference readers who live near big metropolitan areas of the US over other readers, plus 4. I think it will be kind of fun unless my hand falls off.”

The mark of a good parody is when you don’t need to have seen the original.  A billion thanks to 100 Scope Notes for this one.  Never would have found it myself.

Well, it’s a beautiful Sunday morning here in New York City.  Daylight savings just granted me an extra hour to sleep and the New York Marathon appears to be ending, virtually, just outside my front door.  You should hear the happy music.  It’s kind of enchanting.

On that cheery note, let us watch a different kind of parody, only this time with cute kids.

Before I show this next one, I should explain that the Robin Hood Foundation here in New York City has created what they call the Library Initiative where public schools can get beautifully designed library spaces.  Maira Kalman created a mural for one such school.

I heard about this video at a recent Simon & Schuster librarian preview, and then saw it on Bookmoot not long thereafter.  It’s Scott Westerfeld interviewing Alan Cumming about doing the audio versions of his books.  Pretty much any excuse to show Alan Cumming, I will take advantage of.
