Name the next generation!
According to sociologists, anyone born between 1982 – 2004 is known as a Millennial. The name comes from the fact that they were the first group to graduate high school after the millennium (the year 2000).
But what about people born after 2004 (i.e., many STACKers)? According to studies, kids born after 2004 have some interesting things in common that Millennials didn’t have. Many kids born after 2004 have always had a computer in their home, and used technology from a very, very young age. You are the first group to be born into a world with the Internet, texting, instant messaging, and listening to music and watching TV digitally. (What do you think – is this true for you??)
Some people think you should be called Post-Millennials, or Generation Z, or the iGeneration. What do you think? What would you call your up-and-coming generation?
Take a look at some of the past generation names, and fill in what YOU think our new generation should be called.
1946 – 1964: Baby Boomer Generation
1964 – 1982: Generation X
1982 – 2004: Millennials (also sometimes called Generation Y)
2004 – present: ?????
Who knows? Maybe some famous sociologist will read one of your Comments, and name the generation after your answer! So let us know what you think below!
