HarperTeen has unveiled the book trailer for Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. The video embedded above stars the Red Queen herself, Mare.

This young adult novel serves as the sequel to Aveyard’s popular 2015 title, Red Queen. The release date has been scheduled for Feb. 9.

Aveyard plans to write at least four installments for this series. Recently, HarperTeen digitally published two Red Queen-themed novellas by Aveyard called Queen Song and Steel Scars. (via Epic Reads)

Barnes & Noble has unveiled its “Best Books of 2015″ picks.

Some of the titles include The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee, Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates, The Last Ever After by Soman Chainani, and Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. The bookseller’s list features several different categories such as “Bestselling Books with Staying Power,” “Books That Will Make You Laugh,” and “Hoping for a Movie.”

Here’s more from the press release: “Spanning serious literature to pop culture sensations, the nation’s largest retail bookseller and a leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products has identified the books that got people talking, debating, laughing, imagining and reading through the night…Barnes & Noble has compiled this year’s lists based on proprietary criteria, most notably the trendspotting expertise of its booksellers in nearly 650 stores nationwide who converse daily with customers.”

This month, the best selling young adult titles include books by super-talents Neil Gaiman, Chris Riddell, Rainbow Rowell and Sarah Dessen.

Rumors have been circulating that actress and filmmaker Elizabeth Banks may take the helm on the Red Queen film adaptation. Banks (pictured, via) recently made her debut as a director with the hit movie, Pitch Perfect 2.

The Guardian reports that Gennifer Hutchison, a writer who has worked on both the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul TV shows, will adapt Victoria Aveyard’s young adult book for the script. HarperCollins released this dystopian novel, the first installment of a planned trilogy, back in February 2015.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story “is set in a world divided by blood color — red for ordinary people, silver for elites with supernatural abilities. When a street urchin saves her best friend, she is brought before the king and queen, where she suddenly displays special powers — powers impossible for a red blood.”
