This is a piece I did for a Educational reader a little while back. It’s interesting how the original story differs from the Disney version that so many of us are familiar with. It’s much darker.

We get a number of Chinese proverbs with each post, however some of those link back to porn sites.
Over the next few weeks the PICTURE BOOKIES GROUP will be featuring interviews with the talented members of this group.

I’ve been smiling all day to have been invited to be a part of the Picture Bookies. I’ve enjoyed and admired this talented group of illustrators since it’s inception and I am absolutely delighted!
A big thank you to the Picture Bookies!
The Picture Bookies are now on Twitter.
In addition to refreshing my website I have added one new page devoted to the PICTURE BOOKIES the professional illustrator's group of which we are all members. The Picture Bookies is a group of 8 dedicated children's book artists. While we will no longer maintain a full website for the group we do host an online blog as well as a SHOWCASE gallery for other professionals in the field. Since we are removing the website I will still feature a page on my website that can link viewers to the blog and showcase. All the original icons with the names of the Picture Bookies will be preserved.
This page is linking back to the blog and showcase, so that all the artists in our group can be represented.
This is a great group with enormous talent and the individual member blogs and websites are worth a visit.
Hey everyone! If you haven't checked this "group" lately, go there now! The Picture Bookies are an online group of very talented children's book illustrators, of which I am so happy to be a member. The other members include Ginger Nielson, Sherry Rogers, Amy C. Moreno, Paige Keiser, Bron Smith, Gina Pfleegor and Kristi Valiant. You can even link to their individual websites and blogs from the "Picture Bookies" group blog.
Sherry Rogers just designed this spiffy new blog header for us! Yay Sherry!
(PS...can you pick out which character in the header is mine?)
The Picture Bookies, a group of illustrators dedicated to creating imaginative stories and art for children began a group blog about two years ago. This blog featured the artwork of 50 talented children's illustrators. As a weekly feature we have enjoyed the particpation of so many and been amazed at the magnificent artwork presented there. For the time being the gallery is closed to any new submissions, but will remain online as a show case well worth visiting. Be sure to stop in and spend some time wandering the halls of the Picture Bookies Showcase.
Have you illustrated ( or written and illustrated) some books you would like to share? Created a map, greeting card, or received a sensational review?
My Bookpage has grown over the past four years. I have been fortunate to work with some wonderful authors and small press publishers as well as some fantastic educational publishers.
Since most of the marketing and press is done by the publishers I need to check in once in a while to see what is happening with the books. Some have received awards, good reviews and wonderful articles in newspapers. But what I am most proud of is the way children react to them. I love seeing their faces as they look at my illustrations and read the charming stories or listen to me read the stories.
It must be the same for so many illustrators that are devoted to creating for children. Do you have a story to tell? Do children inspire and encourage your art? Post your response, and let others know how your illustrations can bring a smile or a tear to those who view them.
If you are a blogger, the link to your name will bring people to your site so they can view your work. Once there they can follow other links you may have to your personal website and beyond.
The Picture Bookies are having a studio tour. Visit their blog and enjoy the view and the various workplaces they inhabit. You might find a surprise or two along the way.
Wonderful!They are adorable!
