Actually this is inspired by my daughter's cat, Roxie. She was a persian who was blind in one eye. I'm doing a children's book about her for a gift for my daughter. Shhhhh, don't tell.

Okay I put my glasses on and now I see that they are two little wormies he he he he he he! Girl these 47 year old eyes need glasses bad he he he he he! Still the illustration is wonderful.

The worms cracked me up! Those little extra touches add so much and really inspire kids' imaginations, I think.

From oberving the expression on that green creature's face he must really be enjoying himself. Great illustration. And from your site I can tell that this illustration is only the beginning of more ideas.

Oh this is just the cutest and funnest! Yup I said Funnest. We have to put this is a children's dictionary somewhere. I purchased this thesaurus at a SCBWI conference that had words that children like to say. funnest wasn't in there, but I thought it should be. This word sums up this wonderful illustration. It' wonderful. Excellent work.

I love the tiny kids with the huge leaves! It's like, "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" in fall.

BTW, I know what you mean about deadlines. It's hard to set them for yourself, but you just have try, then try again, then look to WaWe and other sites like it for deadlines!

I've been meaning to comment on this one for a while now. It is so much fun, Michowl! Your mice are certainly having such a fun time, and I know my 5-year-old son would get a huge kick out of their antics. And, while I agree that warmer tones might work to create a summer-ish atmosphere, I still think you've hit it on quite well. Good work!

Oh Linda, don't I know this moment or scene all to well. At least it's on the bottom of a sneaker. Once I knew a kid who got it in his hair. It wasn't pretty. This is wonderful! Great illustration.

This is so lovely and really touched my heart with wonderful memories of playing with these blocks when my daughter was a baby. I still have mine and thinking of ways to use them in a craft project. This is so sweet and beautifully illustrated. Great for babies room.

I really, really love this painting. The creamy gouache looks wonderful and I really like the perspective, how you got light and groves of the blocks just right. Great take on the theme!

did you paint it on wood? there's great texture on the background! fine characters for a children's book! these remind me a poems of a famous hungarian poet Petőfi who had so much beautiful poems about life in village.

This was painted on illustration board. I painted gold leaf on, then a crackle medium. When dry I painted an light brown acrylic layer over the top. The rest of the painting was done with very watered down acrylics.
