1. Captain Winky

We like to dress up around here for Halloween. Even the cat.

This was done with Gouache and India Ink.

3. So Near and Yet So Far

A little late, but here's my take on Near and Far.

4. Day and Night

"They walked all day, and they walked all night."

I envision this piece being used in an elephant story I'm working on. I just love elephants.

5.

My kids have always towered above their friends. Most of the time they wished they didn't stick out so much, but once in a while being taller has it's advantages.

I keep sketching out my ideas and then never get them painted enough to post. This time I decided to post it even though I can see a lot more I should putz around with. My day job is at a university and we started classes this week. I don't think time is going to get any better for me so I've got to cut my losses and run with what I've got.

I've loved everyone's posts. The night and day prompt should be fun. I guess I'd better get started on it.

Cheers everyone.

6. Hot Summer Days

I have missed contributing. I just finished one of my hardest semesters yet and had to put my art away for a while. But I'm back now and ready to play. This is my contribution for hot summer days. I had a blast drawing it and then painting it. My daughter kept asking me if this was for fun or homework. Ha, homework be gone. I'm ready for fun.

I hope you enjoy it.

p.s. Am I doing October or November? I thought I was on October, but whatever. Let me know. Thanks.

7. Yucky

The activity for the class party was carving pumpkins. Pulling out all that slimy goo was kind of yucky.

8. Leaf Fun

I've been putzing around with this for days and finally decided enough is enough. I'm done. Sometimes you just got to walk away, you know?
I'm taking a break from my University studies (I'm about 4 classes away from my BFA) and am amazed at how much harder it is to create art without the deadlines.
If it wasn't for WW I'm not sure if I'd do anything.

Now on to the Class Halloween Party.....

9. Frankie in High School

If you're tall, the high school basketball coach tracks you down,
and signs you up. I'm sure young Frankie was tagged early in his youth as someone who was definitely NOT going to be vertically challenged. It was a good thing. Nobody makes fun of the weird-looking scar-faced kid who can slam dunk like nobody's business.

10. Scary

I did it! I finally sat in my studio and pulled out my watercolors. When I took the lid off I had some seriously moldy paints, but one of my instructors once told us he thought that improved the paint, ha ha. My pieces are usually so static compared to the wonderful movement in the pieces of so many of you, but maybe that's just my style. I'm just happy to have actually finished something enough to post it. Happy October everyone!

11. Cocoa Beach

When you live inland, like I do, sometimes you have to get inventive when you want to go to the beach.

I think if I was coloring this again I would make the cup a warm color. Sometimes I have a hard time with my palette. Oh well, you learn by doing, right?

12. Sticky Situation

For some reason all I could think about was stepping on gum when I saw the word "sticky". I had fun whipping this out. Not a lot of detailed story-telling here, but I think we can all relate.

13. ABC's

I know we're now in the middle of fairy-land, but I just wanted to post my art for the prompt "Alphabet Letters". This is a little different take on the prompt and was done with gouache.

14. Spunky

I can't believe how long it's been since I submitted to WW. I've missed it. I put my homework on hold and whipped out this spunky version of my younger self. Sure I was girly, but growing up on a farm gave me a certain, well, let's just say I wasn't afraid to get down and dirty. Only 2 more weeks and the semester is over. Then I hope to be a bit more regular.

15. A Manly Happy Birthday

I thought Richard might like a nice manly birthday greeting, with lots of bold color and fire. ha ha

I know I'm late for the birthday, so I hope it was a happy one.

16. Clucker and Crawler and Flyer

I drew this last Wednesday and then just couldn't find time to paint it. Tonight I decided I needed to escape to my studio and just kick back. This was fun. So many wonderful ideas to this prompt.

17. Island Dancing

"With the embarrassing seatbelt-extension episode on the plane forgotten, Ella had a great time learning the hula."

I had a great time with this illo. I kind of liked the colors that happened. I inked this first, then painted with gouache. When dry, I held it under a stream of warm water and let it wash off the extra paint. I had some happy accidents when the paint washed off in patches in the sky making clouds.

I've really been inspired by everyone this last 2 weeks. I haven't taken the time to comment as I have started 3 classes and put in overtime at work this last week, but I've loved them all. Good job everyone!

18. Zap

For some reason my mind was as blank as a white sheet of watercolor paper when I read the words "magic wand". I don't know what the problem was so I opted to do a wand only. You can use your imagination as to what this magical thing conjured up.
