1. busy little bee....

these last couple of weeks. working on multiple paintings at once. and that's just the way i like it. :)

for starters, i finally got around to finishing up this little red head beauty. along with some blue poppies, this is one of my favorites. i worked on a 4"x12" canvas...an odd size for me but i wanted to challenge myself, combustion wise. really liking the way it turned out. plus, it included two of my favorite things...red heads and blue poppies. rare beauties, indeed. i'll be sharing the finished piece next week. prints will be available then as well.

also, i've been thinking about doing a small series of mixed media animals for quite a bit. i have SO many art supplies in my home/studio well, it's like Michael's, AC Moore and Dick Blick in on humble little abode. from scrapbook papers to every kind of pencil/paint/pastel known to man....i figured it was time to stop staring at all of them and DO SOMETHING with them. below are some sneak peeks....

hopefully, emerging from all this creative chaos will be a cute series of fall themed animals. stay tuned....

thought this painting from last year entitled "ribbons undone" was perfect for this week's IF theme, "heart".

{still remains one of my favorites...most likely because i took the inspiration from my favorite musical maven, Tori Amos and her song of the same name.}

for sure!

this little treasury is everything. anyone who curates a treasury based on Tori Amos songs, well that's someone i just instantly have to show some love for! and, including MY tribute painting to Tori? happy...and humbled. :)

this painting form last year, entitled "ribbons undone" (named after the Tori song of the same name, of course) is one of my favorites. visit my etsy shop to purchase a print of her or a cute little compact mirror (only ONE left...) . also, over at fine art america, you can purchase this piece on a multitude of awesome products....from tote bags to duvet covers.

and, just because we are talking about Tori here, well here's the inspiration for this piece....:)

on the easel this week!

yes, that is a cat. for those who know me, well nothing more needs to be said except "deep breaths". i thought if i made *it* cute, i'd be able to overcome my fear....well, for as long as it takes me to complete the painting anyway.

feeling brave...;)

makes everything better. :)

wrapping up (no pun intended) the piece entitled, "ribbons undone". inspired by the song of the same name by my favorite woman ever, tori amos.

11. a peek at this sweet face....

on the easel this week!

i am currently working on a little scarlet haired beauty who i have fallen madly in love with. must be the red hair...or that's it's my ode to my favorite musical maven, the gorgeous and wickedly talented, ms. tori amos. i have MAD LOVE for this woman. always have. always will.
http://instagram.com/toriamos
is it the red hair? the fellow piano player? the fact that we're both leos? it's all of the above and so much more! just adore her! *enter plug for the new cd, "unrepentant geraldines"*...http://toriamos.com/go/music/#. this wins my top spot for favorite tori cd. seriously. this replaces my beloved "scarlet's walk". but, not by much. ok, let me stop because i could go on and on and on about her and her music. speaking of....

the song, "ribbons undone" (written for her daughter and located on the 2005 release, "the beekeeper") was the inspiration for the painting on the easel this week. such a sweet song...

{p.s. and btw, you can't be a leo and NOT be awesome...and we should know ;)}

12. meet little Claret....

January's mermaid, based on the gemstone garnet.

i actually started this piece in the beginning of April, before the recent neck fusion surgery. i'm 4 weeks out and starting to get back into my groove...slowly. i've been painting here and there over the last week or so. of course it's not enough, but it'll have to do for now. trust me, i would hold that paintbrush 24/7 if i could.

anyhoo, i just have to put the finishing touches on her and i will hopefully have her scanned and listed FOR SALE tomorrow or saturday.

oh painting, how i've missed you so.....

13. a garnet haired mermaid named claret....

january's mermaid.

i haven't been blogging (or painting much for that matter) as i am waiting to have a cervical spine fusion in the next week. don't ask...

anyhoo, i'm trying to take it easy (which is next to impossible for me) and paint a little bit at a time, as i have pain that shoots all the way down my painting arm. needless to say the last few weeks have been pretty challenging.

i've had this beauty drawn up for a bit now and have slowly been working on her. hoping to have her done before the surgery and posted FOR SALE.

after that, i'll be taking it a bit slower than usual for a while as i will be constrained to a neck brace for a few weeks. so during that time, even if i can't work at the easel, i will hopefully be able to draw and sketch from my couch.

then i'll be back better and stronger than ever 'cause my drive definitely outweighs my small size!;)

14. Jackets, Tux

I bought this when I was doing my undergrad at Oxford. We had "fancy dress" dinners once a week...so being on a student budget, I went to a mens clothier, and bought a "used" tux from the late 40's. It fit my budget then. I forgot all about it until this weekend. I paired it with a black cashmere sweater and polka dot bow tie...I think this is the best costume for the day. I have to
