You are viewing the most recent posts tagged with the words: sketchbook scans in the JacketFlap blog reader. What is a tag? Think of a tag as a keyword or category label. Tags can both help you find posts on JacketFlap.com as well as provide an easy way for you to "remember" and classify posts for later recall. Try adding a tag yourself by clicking "Add a tag" below a post's header. Scroll down through the list of Recent Posts in the left column and click on a post title that sounds interesting. You can view all posts from a specific blog by clicking the Blog name in the right column, or you can click a 'More Posts from this Blog' link in any individual post.
A few evenings back, while my drawing buddies were sketching neat pictures of Audrey Hepburn, I was breaking in my new journal with "Portrait of a Man."
Harpo Marx - pencil
Been watching Errol Flynn movies the last few nights;
The Adventures of Robin Hood (one of my absolute, all time, ever since childhood favorites!) and
Captain Blood. In addition to the above pages, I wanted to get a few good sketches from the movies, but it didn't happen. Maybe next time.
To the left is
Vercingetorix the Gaul, who gave the Romans serious trouble until the battle of Alesia in 52 BC. To the right, a Roman soldier and a Gaul in forbidden love.
These are great! How long do you normally spend on sketches like these?
Thanks
Hey thanks, Mike! Anywhere from thirty minutes to a couple hours… it's hard to tell since most of the time I'll stop and start again.
Wow, amazing sketches for the amount of time! Keep up the great work. And thanks for giving my blog a gander (I still have a ways to go...sigh).
You're welcome, Mike! and thanks again.
Vercingetorix didn't like her huggin' up to that Roman!
