There is snow on the ground, but I don't care. It's February in Michigan and it's 56 degrees outside and I'M SITTING IN THE WENDY HOUSE.
But I do have a down comforter and a sweater that used to comprise the better part of a sheep in here with me, just in case.
I'll either get some work done, or just sit here sniffing the fresh lumber/snickerdoodle candle smell. Either is ok with me.
These don't yet show the Wendy House to its best advantage, but I figured I couldn't leave you all hanging for much longer:
Notice what's missing so far?
If I get ambitious, I'll set up the tripod tonight and try for some candlelight pictures. You'll quite possibly die of adorableness if I do a good job...

After much pushing, shoving, grunting, rolling, towing, levering, ratcheting and remarkably little swearing...
The Wendy House has found its way home:
That's me in the doorway, snarfing down my lunch before dashing off to hear Gary D. Schmidt speak at Holy Family Regional School.
For the record, it took 6 people, 2 trees, 1 SUV, and 3 hours. Thank yous galore to my volunteer moving crew!
Tomorrow, this spot will look a bit different:
Earlier today we introduced you to some of the words you can learn in the French section of Oxford Language Dictionaries Online, which are freely available through the 21st. But perhaps French isn’t your thing. Well, how about German? Take the quiz below to see how much you know and if you get stuck turn to OLDO for help. Be sure to check back this afternoon for me Dictionary Day fun from OLDO!
Question 1: Your German friend tells you in conversation, “Das ist nicht mein Bier.” But you’re not drinking beer! What does he mean?
Question 2: English speakers say “kill two birds with one stone”. What do German speakers say?
Question 3: If a German offers you Himmel und Erde, what should you expect?
Question 4: English speakers say “it’s no picnic”, but how would you say this in German?
Question 5: What do Germans see instead of “pink elephants”? (more…)
I feel your joy! I ate lunch outside today! I am already mourning its imminent departure... although it looks like the next couple of days will be in the 40s, which is still pretty warm!
I know, hasn't it been lovely? It's so wonderful to go outside and think something like, "Ooh, have to step over that puddle!" instead of something like, "OMG, COLD!!! PAINFUL!!! WHY!?!?!?"
The only thing I don't like is that it's not going to last. :( Supposed to snow here in Illinois later on this week. Boooooooooooooooooo...
