2. Cancer is personal

By Lauren Pecorino The statement "cancer is personal" can have several meanings. The fact that cancer affects one in three people over their lifetimes means that it is a disease that will hit close to home for everyone. Everyone will have family or friends that will be affected and loved ones will become cancer patients. Cancer is personal. Luckily, we are living in a new age when cancer patients are more likely than ever to be cancer survivors. There are 28 million cancer survivors in the world today. Out of approximately 12 million cancer survivors in the United States, 4.7 million received their diagnosis at least ten years ago. The good news that everyone should know is that there is progress in cancer management.

3. There's nothing to blog about

so I dug into my filing cabinet and unearthed some old "idea" folders.
You have those, don't you?
Those file folders stuffed with scribbles and bits of brilliant ideas for illustrations? I have tons. Every now and then I shuffle through them and unearth gems.

Like, who is this guy? And why did I save him?

This I do remember. An idea for a greeting card. "Cakehenge". You know, like all the candles are around in a circle on the cake like Stonehenge...hmmm, no? Ok, well I have others.

This guy with the baseball cap and sandwich. No doubt he was part of some clever piece that never went anywhere. (I just noticed there's not even an arm holding the sandwich, its just kind of levitating there in front of his mouth.) I think he deserves two question marks. ??

These little guys were going to be a Christmas card I think. All the cats caroling. This could actually maybe sorta kinda go somewhere. The one with no ears is a little disturbing though. And there's one cut off on the left that looks angry. An angry caroller? He's earless as well. hmmm....

And this. I was watching "Gosford Park" and scribbling notes on costumes. Sort of in the dark. Preeeeetty sketchy. But I'm actually glad I found this because I've been wanting to do something with this theme.

There's a lot more where these came from. A lot. But I'm not showing you the good stuff. What? so you can steal my ideas and go make yourself a fortune in licensing? Its bad enough I gave you that Cakehenge idea. And the guy with the sandwich. Hey, if you can make him into a goldmine, he's all yours.
