Odds in Our FavorThe Harry Potter Alliance has re-launched the “Odds In Our Favor” social justice campaign.

Here’s more from the press release: “#MyHungerGames aims to put action to those words. The Harry Potter Alliance is calling on the public to join the real-life District 13 — to hack the Hunger Games narratives, and to open up the pervasive personal narratives of the daily realities of income inequality in much the same way that the great #YesAllWomen did with the daily realities of misogyny.”

The group hopes people will open up and share stories about their struggles using the #MyHungerGames hashtagDonald Sutherland, the actor who plays the evil President Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games film franchise, has given his support to this cause. What do you think?

2. Suzanne Collins Is Best-Selling Kindle Author of All Time

Hunger Games trilogy author Suzanne Collins is the best-selling Kindle author of all time, according to Amazon.

Over at Salon, Laura Miller took an in-depth look at the series’ success: “With the right title, a kid’s publisher can deploy something the world of adult publishing can only dream about: a large, well-oiled and highly networked group of professional and semi-professional taste makers who can make that book a hit even before it’s published.”

In June 2011, Collins became the first children’s books author to sell more than one million Kindle books. For the last ten weeks, the Hunger Games trilogy has occupied the top three spots on the USA Today best-seller list. In addition, the trilogy currently holds the #1 spot on the New York Times bestseller list (children’s series category) after 81 weeks on the list.

3. Donald Sutherland Cast in The Hunger Games

Golden Globe-winner Donald Sutherland (pictured, via) has been cast as President Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games film adaptation.

Sutherland has acted in literary adaptations including Pride & Prejudice and The Eagle. He has also played roles in the television adaptations of Ken Follet‘s Pillars of the Earth and Robert Louis Stevenson‘s Treasure Island.

Here’s more about the character from the release: “President Snow has been the autocratic ruler of Panem and its contained districts for some 25 years at the outset of the story. He is cruel and ruthless in his intimidation and control tactics.”
