Good Morning:
I woke up this morning in the mood to have a contest!!
I will do it the simple, old fahioned way, as I always do. Simply leave a comment. When the contest is over, my daughter will pick a number out of the hat. If the number picked matches the comment number, you win. I know, I know, I could use a randomizer, but I'm computer illiterate and it's too complicated for me to wrap my brain around, so the old hat is good for me!!
When the contest is over, I will contact the winner.
The contest will run through Sunday March 2nd, 8:00 p.m. pacific time.
The winner will receive this:
A 4" x 6" print of "Dancing Fiona". This is one of my favorite "Anthropomorphic Animal" pieces to date. She is happy and light-hearted.
Okay, let the contest begin:

My first son was born on Valentines Day and so this day is one of a kind and very special for me. He has his own home now so I called him to wish him a happy birthday much earlier than I normally would. I knew he was not awake and had every intention of leaving him a voicemail. I was quite silly in my message and I told him that prior to his birth he had kept me up all night and what time he was born, very early in the morning, so I thought I would call and wake him up to tell him how much I love him and I wasn't about to wait a minute longer. He said he really enjoyed my message and said he didn't know what time he was born at that time in the morning. In his baby album we even have a photo of the clock at that exact time. Funny, I guess I never told him. I think I will get the kids baby books out and share some other facts with them that they don't know surrounded the time of their births.

“Negative, Commander. However, the Gamepowa Store is stocking Barbie: 12 Dancing Princesses as a 5-star game.”
“Outstanding. If it’s a top-rated game, it’s a Powa game. If you’ve played Barbie: 12 Dancing Princesses be sure to add your reviews! Acey out.”

Have you seen the "top 100 songs for the year you graduated" meme that's going around? I was so relieved when Kelly didn't tag me. Oh yes, I had fun looking at her list, and I knew almost all of the songs. But the truth is, there was only one gut level check I had for each song:
---American Bandstand
From Kelly's year:
#51. Raspberry Beret, Prince (Just typing that makes me break out in a dance sweat.)
#38. Neutron Dance, Pointer Sisters (Come on, it has DANCE in the title!)
#43 Freeway of Love, Aretha Franklin (Even an idiot can groove to this one. Just imagine you're in that pink Cadillac and careen on down the dance floor.)
From my year:
#57. De Do Do Do, De Da Da, The Police (What can I say? The title IS a dance beat.)
#94. Whip It, Devo (I can feel my head starting to bang already)
#68. While You See A Chance, Steve Winwood (Imagine me doing an embarrassing interpretive dance. Or running. Or cranking out pushups. Hey! Bonus! The YouTube video has Muppet commentary at the end!)
So there you have it. I'm a dunce, musically. My whole family discusses bass lines, chord progressions, and the histories of individual musicians in various, ever-shifting band incarnations. Yesterday, my husband helped my son re-build his guitar so the strings wouldn't buzz against the neck. My daughter sang a Latin mass last year. Me? I jokingly tell people that I'm "the audience." I absolutely adore music, but I can't discuss it intelligently at all. The only way I can express what I think about a song is to move to it. Which might explain why I've always wanted to learn how to...

What does Tea Cozy look like? My photo is at my seldom used MySpace page. Well, this is me at BEA; and scroll down the link at Laura Bowers' LiveJournal for another photo of me.
The photo on the sidebar is of my maternal grandmother as a child; and those of you on GMail? That artwork is by Cheetah. Let me do a little bragging; at Cheetah's school, each year the school picks one work of art by one child in each grade. That one artwork by grade is then mounted and put on display; when the child graduates, they can take it with them. The child selected for first grade? Cheetah! She, of course, is cooler than cool about it. "What is it," I ask. "I forget," she said. "C'mon, I want to play."
But what does Tea Cozy sound like? Now that can be answered! I am in a YALSA Podcast, talking about the ALA preconference. I have to say, it was fun. I may just buy a microphone and start podcasting.
And what does Tea Cozy look like when she dances? Mitali Perkins made sure that question would be answered! But thanks to my being behind Fuse # 8, you can barely see me; I'm in the white shirt and green pants. And yes, they are baggy. And yes, I have to lose a few pounds. And yes, you can tell it's me because I'm waving my arms at all the wrong times.
