1. Narratively Seeks Storytellers Of All Media

Narratively

Narratively, the year-old New York-centric website, consists of writers, photographers and reporters who want to share in-depth human interest stories with the world.

The site values long form writing, and instead of sections or columns, they have weekly themes. As editorial director Brendan Spiegel says, “Our motto is: Any way you want to tell your story, we can do that.” All of the site’s content is generated by freelancers:

[The pub] has earned its reputation on the long-form text, [but] storytellers of all media are encouraged to pitch Narratively. Photo essays, short films, audio stories and comic boards are all game… In Narratively’s first comic text story, “The Real Mermaid,” an illustrator told a narrative non-fiction story about Coney Island’s Mermaid Parade.

For more details on pitching, read: How To Pitch: Narratively.

4. Fountain Square and the Columbus Comic Covention Formerly Known as Mid-Ohiocon

Wednesday we tried out a new place for the downtown Illustrators Lunch, Rock Bottom Brewery. We seem to be cursed in our choice of lunch location so I hope this one will be around a while.  '

After lunch, I did a little sketch of the fountain. I have always loved it and it was the brief time of that day with lovely weather.

This weekend, I dipped my toes back in the con pool. Since I am doing my web comic, Pop Smoothie, I hope to make it to more of these. SPACE in April and maybe CAKE in Chicago next year.

It was a wonderful time despite my lack of stuff for sale.

Anyway, here are some sketches I did during the event. I wish I had gotten some of the more elaborate costumes, but they were Saturday for the contest.

The idea has been in my head for a while and I had to unleash it on the world.

It is Harry Potter drawn in the style of Madeline...

7. Neil Gaiman Vs. The Bully Web Comic

Inspired by Minnesota House majority leader Matt Dean‘s attack on author Neil Gaiman, Twitter sensation Evil Wylie created a web comic based on famous Charles Atlas ads.

Earlier this week, Dean criticized Minnesota’s House Legacy Funding Division for paying the novelist for a speaking engagement.  The legislator called the author  “pencil-necked little weasel who stole $45,000 from the state of Minnesota.”

Above, we’ve  embedded Wylie’s complete comic. What do you think?

8. Ratfist Video

Wanted to post this yesterday along with the Ratfist image I did but it was taking to long to post on Youtube. But better late then never. This is a 7 minute first person view of me inking Ratfist with the Kuretake brush pen and later the Kolinsky brush. I really enjoy this method of digital pencils and traditional inks. It's practically the best of both worlds.

Enjoy!

9. Introducing Ouch!

The secret project is no longer a secret. Introducing my latest foray into the world of web comics, Ouch!
Starting this Monday, February 21, 2011, Ouch! will debut with the first strip and update every Monday and Friday.
What is Ouch! you ask? It's a fun little idea I came up with during my Toon Stories experimentation which I decided to carry on as it's own web comic.
But simply put, Ouch! is just a simple and fun short story which I decided to share with everyone as a web comic.
I had the choice to package up this short story and go straight to printing, or digital publishing, but instead, I thought it would be a better idea to go ahead and share it on the internet.
Unlike a regular ongoing web comic, Ouch! will run for a few weeks until it finally reaches the end. And I could not be more excited about sharing this story with you all.
If you're a fan of my work, and are excited to see this new project, please, I cannot stress this enough but, word of mouth is king. Please help me spread the news on as many social sites as possible. If you're part of a forum, please spread the word, if you're on Facebook or Twitter, please help spread the word.
Thanks in advance!
The fun starts this Monday, February 21, 2011. Click here to go to the official Ouch! website!
