Illustrator Wendy Ding knows a thing or two about tasty dishes. Combining pinup girls with food is simply, pure genius. Ladies - if you want to know the way to a man's heart - ask Wendy Ding. The great thing about these illustrations is that they really make your mouth water - and not just because they have beautiful girls in them. With her unique stye and exceptional talent, Wendy transforms digitally illustrated food into mouth watering morsels. The colors and the detail make these treats look so yummy. Take a look at that candy apple, and the ice cream. Those doughnuts will make you want to run down to Dunkin' Donuts and scoff down about a dozen glazed, little, ring-shaped delights. Don't you feel like you're taking in calories merely by looking at her work?
The beauty of these illustrations (no pun intended) is that they are so playful. You can tell Wendy has fun creating her art. Notice the use of patterns in each of the pieces - some are more subtle than others. She also adds a gloss and sheen that makes the illustrations pop and somehow look sweeter - like cavity sweeter. Do you get that sense too?

Born in China, Wendy was no stranger to whimsical cartoons, stickers and endless picture books growing up. A brief stay in the UK just before her teens introduced her to Barbie and the western world. Now based in Toronto, Canada, her inspiration comes from fashion, music, pin-up girls, and food. Her specialty is digital illustration using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Cartoon style illustrators don't get enough recognition online. As you can clearly see from Daniel's work these illustrators are every bit as talented as illustrators working in other styles. Daniel approaches his craft with the intent to create artwork that is unique and memorable, pushing the limits of his creative thinking and technical skills.
Daniel is a vector man - meaning he works primarily in Adobe Illustrator. The great textures he adds to his work, together with the many layers of color, give his illustrations a rare depth and richness that isn't found in some vector art.
Daniel has exhibited art in two Society of Illustrators annual shows in Los Angeles. His list of clients includes, AAA, Bookmarks Magazine, Virginia Public Libraries and others.

Fubar Redux is an epic short film portraying the atrocities of an on-going political war for territories. Told in an alternate reality with cats and dogs, this film mixes exciting action with tense drama, driven by an uniquely animated visual style. Critics are calling it "Platoon Meets Animal Farm"
Animated and directed by Hasraf Dulull, Fubar Redux has been screened at various film festivals throughout the world this year including, the Short Film Corner at Cannes, Film and Media Exchange (FMX), and Phoenix Comicon.

Gregbo Watson is an award-winning artist and illustrator who works with clients around the world. Over the course of his 18 year career, Gregbo’s work has been used by national brands, featured in museum exhibitions, and published internationally. He studied watercolor painting at the Museum School of Art and illustration and at the Visual Art Institute. After being classically trained as an illustrator, he took the leap into digital art and illustration. He taught himself to use software, such as Sketchbook Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite. He now combines his traditional art training with digital tools to produce his artwork.

Swedish artist, Alex Coroll is a graphic designer, illustrator, and artist with a MFA in Experience Design from Konstfack in Stockholm, Sweden. His projects vary and include such endeavors as, illustrations for festivals, interactive solutions, and collages exploring the topic of personal identity. One of Alex's projects you are sure to find intriguing is a series he calls,
Just a human.
In his own words Alex explains, "My Just a human series is inspired by the investigation of different identities within our identity system. Each "human" deals with a certain symbolic set of notions and characteristics superimposed on the concept of a biological robot."

You've probably heard on the news that Facebook has made Mark Zuckerberg a ton of money. I used to always wonder HOW? I mean it was free to sign up for an account--for personal and business reasons--free to play a lot of the games and chat with friends. SO, how did he make money?
I soon learned about Facebook ads. And now, Facebook is even going so far as to allow pages to pay to promote their status updates to reach more of their fans. So, as an author trying to promote a book or a freelancer selling copywriting or editing services, what does this mean for you? What do you need to know about Facebook ads?
1. You can spend as much or as little on Facebook ads as you want each month. Most of them are pay-per-click. This means that if people see your ad on the sidebar and they click on it, you will be charged. This could be scary for some budgets! However, Facebook allows you to put a cap on how much you want to spend. If you have a budget of $25 for this type of ad, then you put that limit on your Facebook account. Once you hit $25, your ad will not show up. This is a pretty safe way to try out if a Facebook ad brings you any more book sales or any clients without spending a lot of money.
2. What does Facebook mean that you have to pay to promote your status updates? If you have a business page, you will notice that when you type in a status or a link or even post a photo, Facebook will let you know how many of your fans that information has reached. It's usually a pretty low percentage like 15% of your fans had your status update turn up in their News Feed. (As much as we would like to believe that every single person who has LIKED our page sees everything we post, that's just not realistic.) Next to this low and sometimes sad percentage will be the word PROMOTE. If you click on the arrow next to PROMOTE, you will be able to set a limit for how much you want to spend and how long you want your status to be promoted. If you are paying to promote your status, then you should expect a higher percentage of your fans to see it.
With any advertising dollars, it's often good to start out small and observe what other authors and/or writing services companies are doing. If you set a budget of $20 a month and you notice your sales are increasing or you have two new clients, then great--your ad is probably working. If not, then re-think the ad you created OR the budget you set.
How do you know what to say in your ad? Look on the sidebar when you are logged in to your Facebook page and observe the ads. Which ones make you want to click on them? Use those strategies to create your ad.
It's super easy to create an ad, too. When you are on your business page, look at the sidebar, and you will see where Facebook has already created a mock ad for you and a caption that says something like, "Get more likes." Click on this to get started on your ad.
Now what do you do on that Facebook page once you get people there. . .that's for another day.

Craig Phillips is a freelance Illustrator working from his studio in the sunny south coast of NSW, Australia.
Jermaine Rogers is most widely known as one of the leaders in the field of modern rock poster art. This involves the creating and production of promotional poster artwork featuring concerts, musical events, and musical releases by certain rock and roll artists. Jermaine has designed nearly 800 posters for a wide variety of musical acts, including Radiohead, Neil Young, Tool, Weezer, Tori Amos, David Bowie and literally hundreds of others.
Melbourne based Illustrator & Designer Ken Taylor works primarily within the music industry and is predominantly well known for his striking rock posters. Ken has designed posters and album artwork for many Australian bands including You Am I & The Beasts of Bourbon & Crowded House. Internationally he has designed artwork for bands such Queens of the Stone Age, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Kings of Leon, Bob Dylan & The Rolling Stones.
Nahum Ziersch is a freelance illustrator operating out of Adelaide, Australia. He specializes in character design, children's books, publishing work, advertising, comic and poster art.
Laura Wood is an emerging illustrator currently living in Melbourne. She was born and raised in Italy and at the age of 24, after completing a bachelors degree in Cinema and Multimedia, she decided to follow the little voice in her head and move to Australia. Soon after relocating, Laura started dedicating all her energy to illustration. She is currently attending NMIT to pursue a degree in illustration.
With
several children's books to her credit, Laura Zarrin is an experienced, talented illustrator whose warm, color pencil drawings have a style all their own. Wonderful textures and patterns adorn her brightly colored artwork. Some of Laura's characters are reminiscent of well-known illustrator, Richard Scarry's characters.
Color pencil is a difficult medium to master. Those of you who have worked with it before know this to be true. Laura's artwork is so beautifully executed one might be inclined to think otherwise. It would be very interesting, and undoubtedly very educational to watch a video on Laura's techniques.
He calls it "
Pencil Vs Camera" and describes it as a "battle field" between 2 disciplines: drawing and photography, mixing imagination and reality.
Ben Heine is a self-taught Belgian artist living and working in Brussels. He has a degree in journalism and has also briefly studied graphic arts and sculpture. All of Ben's artwork featured here on
IP today, and on
Ben Heine's website, has been created entirely by the artist himself. He not only creates the drawings but also all of the photography.
Here are some veggies that are just too damn cute to eat. Twenty two year old, Argentinian artist Lucas Savelli has a fun series of humorous, herbaceous plants simply titled,
Verdura's Character Series.
Verdura is a group that describes itself as a bunch of artists having lots of fun doing pretty things. They design t-shirts, posters, toys and anything that goes good with vegetables. These folks must be pretty serious about eating healthy. Verdura is Spanish for vegetable. Way to go Lucas - mom would certainly be proud.
Award winning live painter and illustrator, Joanna Henly, a.k.a. Miss Led is taking on the art world like an F5 tornado. The only woman who has ever won the internationally renowned urban street art competition ‘Secret Wars’, her art is so good you can practically taste it. Provocative, sultry, seductive linework and color that has graced the faces of canvases, walls, and even sneakers and cars. Miss Led's artwork is like a stinging smack on the ass that is so painfully good you find yourself wanting more. But why take someone else's word for it? Something like that you should experience yourself - shouldn't you?
Vial of Youth was
animator and illustrator Adele Thomas' 2005 graduate film based around the myth of 16th Century Hungarian Countess Erzsebeth Bathory, with a twist. The Countess was known to have bathed in the blood of young women to prolong her youth and beauty.
Adele's animated film received an award at the Pacific Film and Television Commission's QLD New Filmmakers Awards in 2006. It also screened at the International Animation festival in Argentina.
Follow us down the rabbit hole, as we journey into the world of
Luis Zúniga, a young illustrator from Honduras. Luis seems to have a fascination with rabbits and the macabre. Sounds like fun - doesn't it?
IP also has an interest in the dark crevasses of the mind that leak out unusual but highly imaginative visuals.

Bold and aggressive - strong, heavy line-work - colors that explode off the page - it's such an indescribable, rush when an artist's work is so fantastic that it's difficult to select specific pieces to highlight in their feature on
IP. Karo Akpokiere's art is a mixed style - with the line-work of German Expressionism, (printmakers Nolde and Schmidt-Rottluff come to mind), the energetic colors of a Fauvism and the straight up street style of graffiti art.
Influence, influence, influence - the more artists you study the more depth your artwork will have. Every great artist was influenced by another artist - this is the evolution of art.
Karo Akpokiere has an insatiable appetite for drawing, painting and art overall. He is deeply interested in how all forms of art influence his work. He challenges himself to create art in different media to bring awareness not only to his own work, but also to the various forms of art and artists that inspire him.

Normally we shy away from politics on Illustration Pages. But looking at political cartoons gives us a chance to feature more great artwork. So why not? And besides, the Anthony Weiner Twitter sex scandal lends itself so nicely to this art form. How could we resist?
