How to use this Page
You are viewing the most recent posts tagged with the words: new blogs in the JacketFlap blog reader. What is a tag? Think of a tag as a keyword or category label. Tags can both help you find posts on JacketFlap.com as well as provide an easy way for you to "remember" and classify posts for later recall. Try adding a tag yourself by clicking "Add a tag" below a post's header. Scroll down through the list of Recent Posts in the left column and click on a post title that sounds interesting. You can view all posts from a specific blog by clicking the Blog name in the right column, or you can click a 'More Posts from this Blog' link in any individual post.
You all know how much fun it is to find a new blog, right? Well this one is a little extra special since it is authored by a real life tween who I just happen to know.
"Scout" has been wandering around my library since she was about 3 and has just started her very own blog, which she has called "
Blog 4 Book Lovers" . Her first review is for Lauren Myracle's
Luv Ya Bunches, and if you head over to take a look, you can see what she thinks!
Welcome to the kidlitosphere, Scout!
Lee and Pam have organized another comment challenge, and for the first time I am taking part.
The idea behind this is to get all of us out from lurkdom and let folks know that we appreciate all of their hard work blogging. It also allows us to explore new blogs and get out of the same old reading habits.
I did miss one entire day due to birthday party madness, but am back on the wagon today finding some new (to me) blogs to check out!
Booklights is a new blog over at PBS, to "inspire a love of reading in your child with help from these children’s book experts ."
And who are these children's book experts?
Gina Montefusco, who works on the PBS KIDS Raising Readers initiative.
Jen Robinson, of Jen Robinson's Book Page.
Pam Coughlan, of MotherReader.
Susan Kusel, of Wizards Wireless.
You know what I like about Booklights? Of course, that it involves bloggers whose blogs I love. But also, when you read more about them, the contributors are a mix of library people and non-library people, parents and people who aren't parents. It's a nice, varied list of people, all who have the important things in common: books, reading, promoting literacy. And, the bloggers are each continuing their own blogs.
So far, most of the books discussed have been picture books, easy readers, and chapter books, but I imagine that books for teens will be included, also.
Yes, they are on Twitter.

There's a new blog in town: Bookends.
It's written by Lynn Rutan and Cindy Dobrez: "The DNA testing has not been run, but we are certain we must be twins separated at birth. And like genetic twins, we know what each other is thinking at all times, but we don't always agree. Our passion for teen lit is almost older than the genre itself! We are middle school librarians who have chaired both ALA's Best Books for Young Adults and the Michael L. Printz Award for YA Literature." You probably also recognize Lynn and Cindy's names from their smart, witty and observant contributions to various professional listservs.
Good challenge - I often read without commenting.
I love this challenge, I've been having fun exploring new blogs!!
Yay! You're joining in! Welcome to the party.
