White House videographer Arun Chaudhary has landed a book deal with Henry Holt & Company’s Times Books division. The book is slated for a summer 2012 release.
Chaudhary will tell the story of how he went from teaching at New York University professor to documenting Barack Obama‘s presidency. Editor Serena Jones negotiated the deal with Zachary Shuster Harmsworth literary agent Bridget Wagner.
In the announcement, Chaudhary said the book will focus on “the interplay of art, media, and politics through the prism of the historic Obama campaign and presidency … You won’t learn what the President eats for breakfast, but you will find out what makes space hero Buzz Aldrin mad in a staff van at 8 a.m.”

I've had a few requests to write an update on my cat Simon. A week or so ago I wrote a post requesting the help of cat care professionals, and got a great response. A special THANK YOU to Theresa from Sleeping Kitten-Dancing Dog, who left me the kindest comments in regards to my distressful post! I took your advice Theresa and here is the result:
I tried to capture Monster, by chasing him around the neighborhood until I ran into his PARENTS with my capture materials in my hand!
Yes, Monster has Parents, who have been unable to keep him from going outdoors! They weren’t to happy with me for trying to steal their cat, but understood after I told them I thought he was a stray, and I thank you Theresa for caring enough to leave such a long message trying to help. I have purchased a water bottle and it works, although you should see his face when I spray him with it, which is about a hundred times a day! I told him about you and your suggestion and he isn't happy about it. I don’t think he likes the fact that I have a friend who knows about animals, since I will learn more about how to handle him! Thank you again, and if anyone needs help with anything to do with your cat or wants to know a few more furry felines stop
Sleeping Kitten-Dancing Dog, it's a great site for cat and dog lovers alike.
Now back to Monsters parents who are making it hard on the rest of us parents who are trying to raise our felines in a responsible manner.
Its hard enough raising our cats in today’s world without other parents making it more difficult! I tried to explain to Simon that not everyone raises his or her cat the same way, and that we have to respect other peoples way of doing things. I mean if Monster jumped off a creek bridge it doesn’t mean he has to do it! It’s very frustrating because Monster doesn’t have to obey any rules! This encourages Simon to think I’m the one who is acting unreasonable! He glares at me all day now, and has begun to “act out” in a number of different ways! Yesterday when I was cooking supper, I walked into the living room to find him sitting on top of my coffee table, looking at me as if he wasn't doing anything wrong! I’m not kidding he sat up perfectly straight and looked at me until I got my trusty water bottle!
Thank You Theresa! You would think that it stopped there, but it didn’t, next he followed me in the bathroom to take a shower. I don’t like him coming in the bathroom with me, but I made an exception since he‘s so upset about the water bottle and Monster. Well, never trust a cat! While I was showering I heard him moaning like someone was dying and I had to come quick. Before I was able to draw the shower curtain back, he was swinging on the shower curtain! Screaming and carrying on as if someone was trying to kill me behind the curtain! Oh, I was so mad at him! I held onto the curtain to steady him for fear that the water from the shower was piling up on my bathroom floor! I had to physically jump out of the shower and prey him off the curtain, dry him off and get dressed so I could hand him to my son, who was laughing so hard he could hardly contain his composure!
That is the last time Simon will come with me in the bathroom, period! This cat knows what he is doing, and I’m beginning to think he’s smarter than me! Anyway, more on Simon next week, since I’ve decided to post on him weekly. (Misery loves company)

My cat is taking over my life! I don't know how it started, but he jumps on my kitchen counter every time I sit down to write! I tell him, “No,” but he just stares at me until I physically remove him from the counter! If I don't give him something to eat from the refrigerator, he jumps on the counter again, and again, and again. I'm going to have to get my digital camera fixed so I will have evidence of how he looks at me! I'm afraid I've encouraged a terrible habit!
Last night, while working on a post I've been trying to post since yesterday, I had to give him sardines! After I put his bowl on the floor, (thinking I’d be allowed to write) he stared at the sardines, as if they weren’t what he had in mind. I had to physically get up again and tap him off the counter. This is what we do. I sit down, he jumps on the counter. I stand up quickly in my chair, and he jumps down. Occasionally, he will whine at the front door to go out, but I can’t let him go since Monster is waiting for him. Monster is the name I gave his enemy I feed outside. He is homeless and no one likes him, with the exception of me, of course, so he never has any food. He hated Simon (that’s my cat’s name) before I started feeding him, so that’s not the problem. Monster is just from a bad family, and blames the world for his troubles. Actually, I think Monster and Simon are related. I met Simon when I went with a neighbor to pick up a kitten. The house we went to was full of other cats and kittens, and Simon was one of them. He seemed like he was going to be sickly, so I took him home with me. I didn't want a cat, but I felt sorry for him, and I didn’t think he was going to live that long. Well, he did, and he turned out to perfectly healthy! Anyway, I had him neutered, but my neighbor didn’t have his kitten neutered, so guess what? We have plenty of Simon’s relatives to deal with, and I think Monster is one of them. Every time I let Simon outside, the drama begins. Within minutes, the two are entangled in a brawl, which is followed by Simon racing (past me, usually) to jump in the door in an effort to avoid Monster’s grasp! On more than one occasion, I’ve had to endure their spitting, screaming, moaning, and fighting in my living room. They are both so inconsiderate! So you can see why I won’t cave in to Simon when he begs to go outside, which is because of Monster, but also since getting him to a vet is such a production! Which gives me an idea: Is anyone out there a vet, or a cat psychologist? I need help!
Oh Ann! You have to remember that it's you that lives with Simon not the other way around!
We have national smile week her at the vet's so my poppet will be going along this week but her teeth are pretty good thanks to her regular bones - do you think Simon would chew on one? :)
Hello Traveller, You are so right, Simon is nice enough to let me live here, isn't he? lol!
I didn't know they made bones for cats? What kind are they? I will certainly try anything! LOL!
Let me know , o.k.?
Thanks for the read and the comment-
Ann
I can't say much about the cat, I am from Singapore, notoriously known for being so urbanized, we can't even have pets :S
Anyway, I remember that time when I visited my cousin, and she invited me to touch the dogs, simultaneously cooing 'How cute! How cute! '
And I still refused.. LOL. :)
Take care, Ann and good morning over here, it's 8!
Really, 8 in the morning in Singapore? It's almost 8 in the evening here! Yes, my cat needs a job! lol
Thanks for the comment Winston!
Have a nice Day!
Ann
Hi Ann,
Your cat is such a character. I honestly didn't know that a cat could have a root canal, lol. When I was growing up my mom was a Himalayan cat breeder so we had our very own cat factory, lol. Which is the main reason I only have one pet today, ROFL!
Good luck, and tell Simon to behave or just give him a ton of catnip, maybe he'll leave you alone for a little while, lol. :)
Christy, I didn't know cats could have a root canal either, and I'm definitely not paying for one! lol!
My mouth dropped open when the vet told me he needed a root canal! I wanted to say, "Can you repeat that please?"
Thanks for reading and the comment Christy! Have a good evening!
Ann :)
