1. The MSPCA/Angell Walk For Animals

Today, the MSPCA/Angell Walk For Animals event took place on Boston Common. It was the perfect weather for pets and their parents to come together for a walk around the Common to raise money and awareness for the MSPCA / Angell Animal Hospital and Adoption Center! This is the hospital where we took our Ruby back when she was suffering with uncontrollable, unstoppable ear and skin infections. Seems like an eternity ago when she suffered every single day.

The only local vet dermatologist —and one of only two in Massachusetts, we've been told — worked at Angell, with her derm team. Allergy treatment in animals can be a real crap shoot, but we were willing to try anything. The anti-allergy regimen that Angell's great Dr. Kathy Tater created for Ruby has now controlled her allergies almost completely. It's amazing — she's like a different dog, and now so happy, carefree and virtually symptom-free.

You can read more about Ruby's story on my Angell fundraising page. I have proudly raised $750 for Angell and I am so very grateful to all of my friends and family for their generous contributions — I am truly humbled.)

Below is the t-shirt and the frisbee designs I illustrated/designed for the event. I just loved wearing that t-shirt today!

Today, Boston Handmade, a local association of Etsy artisans, came together in Union Square, Somerville, MA for four hours of arts, crafts, jewelry and textile art - selling fun! The group is very well-organized. Collectively, they sell at a monthly show in Jamaica Plain, the maintain a really nice and fun to read blog, and on an individual level, members are busy each in their own arts communities and have some interesting things going on, on their own
(curious? it's all on their blog).

I went to the show today - not to sell my own stuff, but to help my sister Nancy of Nancyrosetta artisan jewelry. She is a member of the Boston Handmade group and was participating in the show.

We had a really fun day. The weather thankfully held out well throughout the day, after threatening to blow us out with gusty winds during set-up. People were really friendly and kind, all around. It was really pleasant in that way. I sensed a definite lack of the oft-seen/felt 'jockeying for position' and the competitive vibe that can occur at shows. It made for a much more pleasant and relaxed atmosphere throughout the day. The show drew quite a large crowd, though, so oftentimes booths were filled to capacity, and the only people jockeying for position during those moments were customers!

I enjoyed looking at all of the work, and I purchased quite a number of things. I can't help it, I am an art lover, and art makes life better!! And handmade things are even better -- I love buying something specially made! It feels more special hat way, AND it's nice to know where things come from! Good karma!

The work displayed at this show was on the whole pretty outstanding. I've been to a lot of art/craft shows, and this one not only had a really nice overall variety of different products, but the work clearly had a very high level of craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal. In terms of vendors, jewelry seemed to take the lead, but my feeling is that the mix of different styles really supported each individual artist. There was no competing work - no jewelry that was alike. (I even purchased jewelry, myself - from two different sellers!)

3. What Is The Worst Or First Job You Ever Had ?

When I looked through my archives of Tuesday's Questions this morning to make sure I didn't repeat a question, I noticed that a lot of my regular post titles are questions- I guess because I'm so inquisitive, (which is something you probably didn't already know about me.) Anyway, I thought I asked this question before but I haven't- what I did was write a post entitled My First Job At Chicken Coop, although it wasn't my worst job... and I never asked either question. So this week for Tuesday's Question you get to pick which one you would prefer to answer.

So you can tell us about your worst or first job experience, but remember I will post your comment tomorrow with a link back to your blog, so it will be published for the world to read. (Smile) Also tell your readers that you answered Tuesday's Question, and maybe they can meet a few more bloggers while they're reading your comment and vice versa. Also if you prefer I can link back to the post of your choice instead of your landing page- so please leave the url in my comments and I will be happy to post another link instead. Maybe you have a favorite post in archives that some of your readers missed or your new readers haven't read yet?

Tuesday's Question is my way of connecting and giving thanks to all of the great bloggers who have supported this weekly post and read A Nice Place In The Sun period! I want to say thank you, introduce you to each other, and let you get to know me better!

So I'm going to share one pretty funny post link about my first job at Chicken Coop, and another funny now - sometimes funny then- post about my worst job that I wrote today.

I couldn't stand many jobs over the years when I was a single parent which I'll touch on briefly, then it's your turn! Have fun-

The years after my divorce taking care of my son on my own were the best and hardest years of my life... My main objective everyday was how to manage keeping our heads above water, so you name the job, and I've done it, well...just about everything...

I did write but a writing career was out of the question in those days, with the exception of writing and selling ads for magazines; therefore I was a bartender, a waitress, a deputy, a public relations manager, a sheet rock hanger, a painter, and I even cleaned a few houses....but the absolute worst job of all was driving a meat truck.

At first, I thought the job was perfect, because I could pick my son up from school in the afternoon and continue working- although I didn't expect him to hide in the school bathroom due to his embarrassment of the truck, so that I had to get the janitor to go in the boys bathroom and drag him out while my refrigerator was running in the truck...nor did I plan on having to deal with his adamant refusal to sit on the seat where anyone could see him, preferring instead to sit below the seat where he could view the road fly by from a crack in the floorboard.

The truck was refrigerated so I had to keep it running so the meat wouldn't spoil, hence it ran in our driveway, in front of my son's school, while I went to teacher/ parent conferences and in the grocery store on my way home. My products only amenity was the fact that the meat was vacuum packed, although most of my customers bought some from me anyway either to get me off of their driveway or because they could see my son sitting on the floorboard doing his homework.

Oh how I hated that job, the only one I hated worse was the one I had next, which was selling potato chips on one of those giant potato chip trucks. Except I didn't last long on that one, not after I got the truck stuck in front of a local supermarket all day until it was too late to set up my "chip stand" a part of the job in which I will spare you the details. But, I still believe all work is honorable, and it fed, clothed and put a roof over my son's head- and also a floorboard under his feet- and a refrigerator truck full of meat...in fact come to think of it he would love that truck today...well no, on second thought he wouldn't, but we do laugh about it all the time...

O.K. Your turn~

4. What Is The Biggest Lie YouTold In Childhood?

Hello and welcome to another Tuesday's Question, especially a few new readers (of which I'm sooo grateful) who may wonder what in the world Tuesday's Question is?

Therefore, let me explain real quick: I began Tuesday's Question 22 glorious questions ago, in an effort to get to know who was reading my blog, in addition to introducing bloggers to one another...I also wanted to involve other bloggers who participated in a group post that included their comments every Wednesday, with a link back to their blogs - sort of like a blog review but more personable. Here's a link to all the questions as well as comments I've posted so far which may give those of you who aren't familiar with Tuesday's Question a better idea of what I'm writing about... or you might say, what it's all about...(Pardon me for getting off topic a minute but, "What's it's all about", reminds me of the lines to a song...what is it? I think it's by The Carpenters, You know, "What's it all about...)

Anyway, I'm sorry...you know how you hear a song in your head or write a phrase and it sounds familiar and it sticks, then stays in your head the rest of the day?

O.k. let me move on before your boss catches you reading this... today's question is What Is The Biggest lie You Told In Childhood?
Because let's face it, even George Washington told a lie in childhood, and believe it or not adults tell one from time to time, rarely I know, but it does happen.

So, tell me in comments what was the biggest lie you told, and in all fairness, I will tell you mine first- although I told so many lies, I'm not sure it wasn't the largest, although it did make the biggest impression on me...

I copied an excerpt from a post I wrote back in June of 2007 entitled When Young Children Lie For Approval because it was, as afore mentioned, the fabrication that made the biggest impact on my memory and perhaps my behavior...

"For me the first grade was a courageous attempt to conceal my inability to jump rope from the girls in my class. The youngest and only girl in my family, I learned to play games like Batman and Robin instead of mastering the art of jumping rope or swinging a hoola hoop. Before the first grade, I never laid eyes on a jump rope before, and now I had to learn to jump one!

I needed help, and I thought help arrived in the form of Holly White, a popular little girl in my first grade classroom. Everyone loved Holly, and everything Holly did met with instant approval.

All of the little girls in my first grade class wanted to be friends with Holly, so every Friday she would interview each of her admirers, and decide which one would have the pleasure of her company. I thought I had a real shot, however my hopes were about to disintegrate.

My parents had a boarding stable for horses, and most children were impressed with that, however Holly White was not one of those children. Holly loved pigs, not horse’s, pigs, or at least that‘s what she said, and every afternoon she interviewed her groupies to decide which one of us she would go home with after school. One of Holly's questions was what was so great about our houses? Hence, I told her during my interview that my house was great because we had pigs. The lie came out of my mouth before I knew it, and it was too late after it did, since Holly was delighted at the prospect of meeting the sloppy livestock, and told everyone about our plans for what turned out to be a week-end!

Anyway, I thought I would be able to carry the lie because we had about fifty acres of property that we used for a pasture, and I assumed the pasture would be a good place to keep a pig farm. I conspired to walk Holly out in the pasture, and when we couldn’t find any pigs (since there weren’t any) I would say the pigs must have wandered off somewhere when we there- so you see it was not only a lie it was a premeditated lie!

When we arrived at the barn, Holly and I went out to the pasture to look for the pig farm. I thought I was on top of the world, I was not only friends with a celebrity, I had impressed her with my engaging resources. We were halfway through the pasture when we heard, “Ann! What are you doing?” echo from a distance.

Before I could return another lie for my answer Holly shouted, “We’re going to see the pigs!”

I wanted to disappear, and then I heard my Mother answer, “Ann, we don’t have any pigs! Come back from the pasture this instant!” consequently, this is where my popularity at school came to a screeching halt, and I went back to being plain old Ann, except the word "liar" was attached to my name. The fact that I felt the weight of humiliation the rest of the year was a blessing, however, I was too young to realize it at the time.

Now it's time to share your biggest childhood lie- so spill it...and remember I will post it in tomorrows post. Have fun!

(if you would like to read the rest of my post on why I think children lie, feel free to click on the link, however I warn you it's a more serious take on the subject. However, I will add since I wrote the article for a local children's magazine at the time, I didn't add that I think young writers have a tendency to fabricate in childhood, or at least this one did...)

5. When Have You Been The Most Afraid?

Welcome to Tuesday's Question. I began posting a weekly question's based on personal experiences and childhood memory to help get to know my readers better and vice versa about 21 questions ago, starting in September of 2007- (it sounds like much longer doesn't it?)

And now the weekly post has become more than a question or a way of getting to know my readers- it's provided exposure for the bloggers who leave a comment by leaving a link to their blogs with a comment that tells something more personable about themselves posted along with other bloggers.

I've been trying to find ways to offer recognition to the group of bloggers who have been so remarkably loyal by stopping by every Tuesday's since I've been posting Tuesdays Question, although so far I haven't thought of anything special enough for such a great group of supportive friends.
However, I will come up with something as well as have more and more exciting questions to ask and talk about on Tuesday's Question in the coming year.

Anyway, I just wanted to give a quick overview of what Tuesday's question is about for my new readers and say thanks to the rest of you for your continued contributions. Now finally I get to todays question, but remember to check tomorrow for the post of todays responses to the following question:

When Have You Been The Most Afraid Or What's Your Most Scary experience?

Please accept my sincere apology for the delay in posting , due to computer difficulties beyond my control today Tuesdays Question's post was delayed. However, I will leave the question up an extra day in an effort to give everyone a chance to respond.

6. What is The Funniest Thing Your Child 's Ever Said?

Welcome to my Tuesday Question feature that I post every Tuesday on Thursday. I've had one computer problem after another this week, therefore I apologize for the two day delay. I've been on the phone with computer doctors all week who tell me that "Dell" (my computer) just needed an update, and that he should be fine, especially after the the last two days of rest- geez...I thought, that's more rest than most of us- anyway I was glad to be back in business. At least, I thought I was back in business, because after happily writing this post this morning, that I planned to post Tuesday, I couldn't post the image. Consequently, I've spent the better part of today trying to post the image above of my beautiful boy, and low and behold, it posted! Now, we can have some fun answering Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday's Question- What is The Funniest Thing Your Child's Ever said?

I took my answer from a post I wrote when I first started blogging, entitled a The Funniest Things Children Do And Say.

Please write the funniest things your child/children have said or done or both in my comments and I will post your answers tomorrow along with a link back to your blog.

Just click "read more" to read mine, and I can't wait to read yours:

When my son was three or four, I made our living room into a play area to keep him occupied while I cooked. The kitchen was set up with a bar between it and the living room, so I could see him see songs over the top of it while I peeled potatoes. One of our favorite songs was “John, Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt!" I would sing and dance around the kitchen as I peeled potatoes, and prepared whatever made up concoction I could throw together from my limited supply of ingredients. I danced as he laughed aloud and squat up and down (his dance) to the rhythm of the song. He was a good choreographer, and was sure to show me whatever new move he made up as I threw onions, bell pepper, etc, into a pot, and sang along to the tune.

One night as we danced and sang John Jacob, I turned my back on him, and when I turned back around, he was gone.
He did this sometimes, he would get in the mood to be alone and go in his room and make believe he was a pirate or some other popular action figure for hours. But this time was different, and when too much time passed I started to get uncomfortable with the silence. I went in his room and saw him sitting in the corner crying and covering his face. I said, “Honey what’s wrong?”

He pulled his chubby hand away his face, then shook his head back and forth refusing to come forth with the problem. However, I keep asking until he was more helpful, and after a gulp of air he replied, “You used to like to watch me sing and dance.” I was perplexed, I couldn’t imagine what he was talking about, but I said, "Yes, Baby, and I still do. What makes you think that I don’t all of a sudden ?”

"Because when I danced and sang you didn’t clap your hands.” he answered.

”Well”, I replied, “Honey, I couldn’t see you, I had my backed turned”. His reply is a good example of how literal children are, he said, “Why didn’t you just use the eyes in the back of your head?”

7. My Christmas Card And Tuesday's Question: What Is Your Most Memorable Christmas Moment?

What Is Your Most Memorable Christmas Moment Or Event?

You know this morning I realized that this is the last Tuesday's Question this year, because next Tuesday is Christmas Day and the next Tuesday will be New Years Day!

Therefore, I decided I better give out my homemade Christmas card before Christmas actually arrived. I hope you all have a happy and save holiday season.

Oh, and by the way, in case this card is hard to make out...it's my A Nice Place In The Sun icon of a mother bird in her empty nest. She's looking through the window of a house decorated for Christmas... It's a shame, but this children's picture book writer can barely draw a straight line. Although, everything in life is a trade off, so if I wanted my card to come from my heart, I would have to involve my hand- :)

Happy holidays again~

Now, to the business of Tuesday question:

9. What Fictional Character Do You Wish Would Come To Life?

Hello and welcome to another Tuesday's Question. I love today's question: If you could make the actions and story behind the life of a fictional character in a book or movie come true, what character would that be? For example, what character do you think would've made the world a better place had they really existed? The two characters who immediately came to mind for me, were Charlotte from Charlotte's web and Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird.

You can choose any fictional character from a novel, movie, poem, situation comedy, even a cartoon... Just think of the story behind the character and the choices they made. What kind of people were they and what might they have given to the world?

Don't forget, I'll post your comments with a link as always, to give your blog exposure, in addition to give other blogs an opportunity to engage in conversation with you or post a link to your comment. Like, for instance, what happened last week, when Misty and Sandee's comments were mentioned by btki Outdoor Furniture News. Outdoor Furniture News linked to the Tuesday's Question post instead of the bloggers, however, I in turn, linked back to Sandee and Misty. I tried to contact Outdoor Furniture to give them Sandee and Misty's links, but for some reason I couldn't leave a comment.

In addition, I had hoped to say thank you to Outdoor Furniture News for joining our conversation and for linking to A Nice Place In The Sun.

Anyway, for those of you who aren't familiar with Tuesday's Question, please note that I post all comments with a link back to the blog who left the comment. So remember, you're broadcasting live from A Nice Place In The Sun on the net! (I'm laughing aloud, as we say in internet lingo)

In any event, we're not the only ones reading Tuesday's Question, so now I hope you'll see how wonderful all of you and your comments are. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for sharing every Tuesday with me, because I truly don't know how I would survive without you.

O.K. I'll stop with the mushy stuff, and get down to the business of fun, because the sooner I stop writing this post, the sooner I can read your comments.

I can wait...

10. What Is Your First Memory?

What is your first memory?

My immediate family is going to kill me for this picture! And I hope you will forgive me for all of these old black and whites I've been posting lately. I've been going through my mothers old photos, baby books, graduation pictures, wedding dresses, etc...

My father popped into town a few weeks ago and surprised me with a new scanner and it's wonderful. My other scanner died and went to live in scanner heaven, and I was sad, but now, I'm happy again thanks to a really great Dad. This is a picture of my first memory, only kidding, but, it is a picture of my family caught off guard one morning by a local photographer. My mother was furious because it was so early in the morning she hadn't had time to get us all dressed. Incidentally she will kill me for posting this picture.

Anyway, I thought it would work nicely with this Tuesday's Question which is;

What is your First Memory?

In addition, I wanted to make a few announcements before I quickly answer the 16th Tuesday’s Question! I cannot believe I’ve asked sixteen questions since starting Tuesday’s Question. When I went through my archives last night to make sure I wasn’t duplicating a question I was floored when I saw what number we're on.

Therefore, I decided I need to thank my loyal contributors by doing three things in your honor. First, I’m going to make an honorable mention link list or blogroll for the bloggers who have faithfully participated in Tuesday’s Question since the beginning. Second, I 'm making an ongoing honorable mention list with its very own page, and link to each blog. And last (I have to figure this one out) I’m going to add a suggestions form for suggested questions. I thought that after sixteen weeks we needed a change to keep the party going.

What do you think? I know you can't answer this fragmented question or any other question "live" in real time, but feel free to discuss it in comments with each other and me. Because Tuesday’s Question belongs to all of you who stop by and leave a comment every Tuesday, thereby making the question more fun to answer.

Here Is My First Memory:

I was three or four years old:

My brothers ran ahead of me all of the time when we were outside playing. I guess they were trying to lose their "bad" little sister. We lived at the end of a dead end street, with a circular drive at the end, which we referred to as "the circle." "The Circle" was an empty lot with trees and dirt on it, like an island in the middle of a street. One morning, when my mothers back was turned, I followed my brothers out the door and down the street on their way to the circle. I ran behind them as fast as my legs would allow, but the meanies lost me anyway. I remember sitting down on the island dirt and noticing my legs turning red from running, and I wondered why? Then they started stinging and I couldn't understand why or what was hurting me. I began slapping my legs trying to make the stinging stop, and screaming with my eyes so full of tears I couldn't see where I was ... I remember feeling terror, followed by relief, when I felt my mom scoop me in her arms, and carry me to the hose on the side of our house.

Evidently, I sat in an ant bed! I've never known which event was my actual first memory. Was it my brothers running ahead of me, noticing my legs were red, or the ants? However, none of them are particularity good memories, are they? Well, at least my mother realized I followed my brothers and came looking for me. And now years later I put her picture up on my website, that was taken before she'd had her morning coffee. Motherhood is hard.

What is your First Memory?

11. If You Had The Chance To Choose A Super Hero Or Magical Power What Would It be?

Hello, and welcome newcomers and regular readers to Tuesdays Question.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Tuesday's Question, it's a weekly post I started a few months ago, in an effort to connect with you, my readers, and spread a little link love. Also, I hope by posting your comments the following day it will work like a blog review. This way, while everyone is learning about your blog, we're also learning about the author behind your blogs title, which is you. That's right, I post the comments to my Tuesday's Question post the following day with a link back to the responding blogs.

Plus, I want to remind and encourage all of you to comment on each others comments as well, you know, as if we're engaged in conversation. But most of all I want you to be sure and have fun!

Although, I didn't use it for the main title, today's question asks how you would respond to three questions from a magical Wizard, which are...

If you had your choice of a super or magical power, what would it be?

What living celebrity would you like to take out on the town to celebrate your new super hero status? Or just take out on the town ?

And what super hero already created are you most alike?

My answers after the read more...

I would like to have the power pop in and out of places, like Betwitched, and take Cheri Oteri or Will Farrow out on the town. As far as a super hero I am most alike, I think... I'm probably more like Spiderman. Except, for some reason, I've related to Robin from Batman and Robin, lately...but, I'm not sure why?

Thanks for playing and have a fantastically fun day!

12. What Is Your Most Memorable Grade School Experience?

Welcome to Tuesday's Question! Please forgive my sluggishness this morning. My world is a little haywire right now. I have several friends in danger of losing their homes due to the fires raging across California. I was on the phone half the night, listening to shaken voices speaking in terrified tones, so it's hard to wrap my brain around Tuesday's Question this morning. Although I know if I asked these friends if I should go on as planned today, they would want me to post Tuesday's Question. Therefore, I decided to use some questions from a popular post already written entitled, Do You Remember Your First Childhood Crush? I know many of you already answered that question when I wrote it. That's why I came up with another one that fit the post nicely, entitled...

What is Your Most Memorable Grade School Experience? This post of mine answers the question best for me, along with some pretty funny comments. What is yours?

Before I go, I would like to ask that you join me in praying for the people of the great state of California. May the grace of God be with them during this tragic period, quite possibly the worst of their lives.

In addition, if not out of contest, the winner of yesterdays post is Paula from Polliwog's Pond. Polli guessed that it was Sandee, from Comedy Plus whose answer was the scene I posted on yesterday's post. (read yesterday's post for details)

Polli, you have a great memory. Be sure to call in your blogging favor and I will post it along with a review and link back to the great Polliwog's Pond. And thank you Polli for being such a great sport!

Thanks to you all for stopping by and playing Tuesday’s Question. Have a happy day and don't forget to keep our Californians in your prayers.

God Speed!

13. What is Your Favorite Age And Guiltiest Pleasure At That Age And Now?

What is your favorite age and guiltiest pleasure at that age and now? Welcome to Tuesday's Question and thanks to all of you for your continued support!

This weeks question deals with cheap thrills and guilty pleasures, the likes of which we share among friends who will not judge us and love us anyway... we hope. You can answer a piece, part, or all of the question, just be sure and have fun while you're answering it. Here's my answer:

My guiltiest pleasure now is ice cream, wine, and more ice cream. I have been known to sneak a cigarette from time to time. I know, I know, cigarettes are terrible and I stopped smoking years ago, but I enjoy one occasionally especially with an old friend mulling over old times... or a new friend, beginning new times, or with a class of wine ...

My favorite age or ages are 22, 27, and now. When I was in my twenties I loved to dance in water fountains, make believe I was other people in public, and ring doorbells then run when someone answered. Yes, my ex husband and I actually rang door bells when I was 23 and pregnant with our son. He was the getaway driver and I rang the bells. Although most of the time, he left me standing outside or running after the car when someone answered the door. We also danced in public water fountains, and pretended to be other people with real estate marketers. Sometimes real estate marketers looked for tourists to buy and sell property in our hometown. They gave out gifts of money or dinner to couples who would go on their property tours, so this is the time I'm speaking of when we pretended to be different people. We didn't just walk around pretending to be other people, that would be weird. Now that I've embarrassed myself, what childish antics are you or were you up to, and what is your favorite age?

14. Tuesdays Question? : What's Your Craziest Teenage Experience Or Memory?

Hello and welcome to another Tuesday’s Question! If this is the first time you’ve read Tuesday’s Question you don’t know what I’m talking about, and if you’re returning to Tuesday’s Question, thank you for coming back!

Tuesday’s Question is my way of connecting with my readers and sharing a little link love every week. If you’re a reader and not a blogger you will be a part of tomorrows post, and if you’re a blogger the post will also include a link back to your blog!

I want to make a connection and express my appreciation for your friendship by passing some link love every week. Plus, I think it's solid that I learn something knew about you with each question, and hopefully you learn something new too, about me and each other.

I’m sorry I’m running behind again today and posting mid-morning instead of 6; 00 AM. I will do better, I’ve just been a little rubber fingered lately, and I don’t really know why. What is rubber fingered? I do not know I just made it up, but I bet you know what I mean. Anyway, I cannot wait to read your answers to this week’s question. I have a feeling I will be laughing all day, or if your experience is anything like mine, I may be petrified or both…

What's Your Craziest Teenage Experience?

My teenage crowd and I loved to play in our cars while driving down the road, or better yet, scare the living daylights out of our passengers! We did this by designating a driver to let go of the wheel, and slide to the passenger's side of the car, leaving the vehicle coasting down the highway, at a top speed of sixty miles an hour without a driver! Then, whoever sat directly behind the driver, would jump from the back seat to the front, and resume control of the car! This is the craziest memory I have or maybe the scariest of my teenage life, and it gives me chills when I think of it! Can you believe any of us lived through that experience?

That is the craziest memory I have although not my favorite. My favorite, is the one I wrote a post on, but I guess I was a young adult when the bats latched onto my head.

I was in such a hurry this morning that is the memory that popped in my head, which one pops into yours?

15. Who Was Your Favorite Teen Idol?

Thank You for coming to Tuesdays Question! Who was your favorite teen idol? I'm referring to the pre-teen years before or at the age of fifteen, not your favorite band when you were an older teenager, I mean a popular pre-teen idol. Well, I guess if you didn't have a favorite teen idol it will be o.k. to tell us your favorite band or singer when you were a teenager, but I was thinking in terms of bubble gum. If I were asking the question who is your favorite rock star, I would have used a different video as an example, like The Beatles or someone. So, if you answer with the name of a rock star it will make me look uncool and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

The video above is my favorite pre-teen idol, who doubled as my make believe husband, and father to our slew of children! We lived in my writing cottage on the beach, when the kids weren't in school, and I spent the summers writing while he... well, he sang of course!

I sang, I Woke Up In Love This Morning every night in addition to tuning in to the show The Partridge Family every week, when I was fourteen years old. I meant every word of it too, and feel the same way all over again every time I hear it, because of the way music brings us back.

Oh, these lyrics,

“Last night, I turn out the lights, lay down, and thought about you,

Refrain “ I woke in love this morning, I woke up in love this morning, went to sleep with you on my mind,”

“Do dreams come true, well if they do, I have you!”

(And a writer's cottage too)

Oh, I loved him so and I still love the song, but in 1972, just about every red-blooded female in existence loved David Cassidy, not just me. In fact, every generation has it’s favorite teen idol I have to admit as I got older I dumped him for Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Donovan, etc…

However, in 1972 there were David Cassidy fans and there were Donny Osmond fans, and most eleven year old girls in my town's hearts had to belong to one or the other. We could tell the difference between the "David" girls, and the "Donny" girls because few pre-teens have their own identity. David and Donny girls dressed differently and so forth, ... It's funny to look back, except that now I realize what weird adolescents we were.

How weird were you and your friends, and more importantly who did you wake up "in love" with when you were eleven? I'm speaking of whoever was popular in your generation with your group of friends. Who was on your mind when your head hit the pillow?

I’m trying to bring up feelings of nostalgia with Tuesday’s Question, and really in writing this blog because it makes people feel good, and it's groovy to feel good. We all need a nice place in the sun in which to remember, laugh, and reflect on the good times, in addition to enjoying each moment, even this one right now...

Which starts with answering this Tuesday's Question,

"Who Was Your Favorite Teen Idol? " Or who did you wake up "in love" with every morning?

16. What Character Do You Identify With The Most In A Book Or Movie?

Hello, and welcome to my empty nest, in addition to my seventh weekly question party, entitled Tuesday's Question!

I’m indebted to all of you, especially my regulars, because without you, well, you could really talk about an empty nest! That would be terrible, and I hope that doesn’t happen, ever! J

Tuesday’s question is a weekly party on my part of the internet or empty nest if you'll humor me. You make an impact on my life every time you visit, and I hope we'll know each other better each time you do.

I’m staging the questions as I do at my huge social gatherings down here in Dixie Land USA. Where everyone knows everyone better after coming a few times, if that’s any indication of what can happen. Actually, I’ve only only tried it a few times so ignore the typical hyperbole comments. Around mid-summer while planning a party in my home I borrowed the party idea from Joyce's party idea's on the day time show 'The View.' It’s wonderful and you ought to try it the next time you have friends over. The question and answer theme is really fun to do in person, because you can see facial expressions, in addition to more time for further conversation. However, I've received a great response in comments every week. I think it's because blogging is so much about conversation, and friendship, and this idea goes along nicely with both.

Remember this is a party, so feel free to speak to each other in comments in reference to the question or just to say hello. Think of it as visiting me as well as each other in my living room, because this an internet party! (Kind of anyway)

We’ll have to get together and have a real party someday, but that's another one of my ideas...

Ok. Here’s the question or questions I'm going to toss at you today in addition to a main question. It's about a character with whom you most closely identify. It doesn't have to be the same gender. It can be someone who did something in the way you would have. For example, mine is Atticus in the novel, To The Kill A Mockingbird. That is the main question, but I added sub questions for fun superficial things like the way you look or talk. Example: Has anyone ever told you look or act like a specific character in a situation comedy?

Sure they have, this has happened to everyone, because it’s such an easy point of reference. In fact, that will be one of my sub-questions. I thought of this question because I have a friend who has named each of her old high school friends with the name of a character in the situation comedy 'Friends.' She also does it with the show Sex In The City, which drives me crazy sometimes, but it's fun. I really think the first question tells people more about a person than the way that they look or what situation character they are like, but it may not be as much fun. If you have limited time please just answer that one. For me anyway, I guess there are others at this party. The host doesn't have to always have their way.

ANYWAY, here goes, ...

(Please forgive the red font. It's makes the questions easier to find.)

Tuesday's Main Question:

What Character Do You Identify With The Most In A Book Or Movie?
(This character does not have to be the same gender. When I say the character you most closely identify, I mean this character behaved or reacted in their particular story or circumstance much like you would have, ...or they think like you, etc...)

My answer, "Atticus in To Kill A Mockingbird. "

--Sub-Questions:

A)What situation comedy character would you're friends say you're most like ? (Remember this is what your friends would say)

My Answer: My friends say Rachael on friends, and Cary on Sex in the city. Oops! I know that's two, but I have neurotic friends, so I already had an answer.

I think I'm more like Lucy but maybe I just want to think that.

B) Who in Hollywood or what well known person have people said you most resemble ?

Meg Ryan

C)What well known wealthy person is living their life the way you would given the same set of circumstances?

Oprah

Remember questions A and B and C are just for extra extra fun, and not necessary to answer in order to participate. Especially you busy bloggers out there, so if you want to just say hi!

Thanks to all of you for participating and remember I will post your answers tom, with a link back to your blog. Have fun!

18. What Is Your Life's Musical Score? What song would you leave your children?

Since August 7th 2007, 'A Nice Place In The Sun' has posted a question to readers entitled Tuesday's Question. And every Wednesday I've posted the answers along with a link back to the blogs who commented. Although, the first time I posted the question, I linked only to the blogs with the best answer. However, last weeks responses were so good, that I posted everyone's answers and linked back to all of the blogs who humored me with a response.

I liked posting all of the participating bloggers answers instead of a select few with the best answer, since we all became a part of the same post. The past posts are listed in my sidebar under Tuesday's Questions if you would like to read them, however before you do, be sure and answer todays!

The image above reminded me of a person coming forward with something about themselves, although I'm not sure why, it just does. Which brings me to today's question. Since there are so many different sides to people I decided to ask two additional questions in an effort to get to know everyone better. I sound like a teacher on the first day of school, don't I? Anyway here are the questions,

In your last will and testament what would you answer to the following questions?

What is your life’s musical score? What love song would you leave to your partner/husband/wife? What song would you leave to your children?

Your life's musical score is the lyrical story of your life, so answer in the most thoughtful way possible, that way we all know you better after reading your comments.

Bob Dylan once said in an interview, "There is no music without the words"

What is your life’s musical score?

My life's musical score is the theme from Midnight Cowboy entitled,

“Everybody’s talking at me” by Harry Nilsson

"Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying,
Only the echoes of my mind.
People stopping staring,
I can't see their faces,
Only the shadows of their eyes."

Oh, I would love to go where “the sun keeps shinning through the pouring rain” and “sail on a summer breeze” then, “skip over the ocean like a stone.”

What love song would you leave your partner/husband/wife?

"If " by Bread with the lyrics " if a picture paints a thousand words, then why can't I paint you? " If a (woman)man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tommorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to
die, I'd spend the end with you. And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
and you and I would simply fly away"

What song would you leave your children?

"A Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel.

"When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I'm on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down."

Here they are again,

What is your life’s musical score? What love song would you leave to your partner/husband/wife? What song would you leave to your children?

Thank you for reading and thanks ahead of time for commenting. Please remember your comments will be published in tomorrow's post. I will also link to your blog/site, so check with technorati for links! Have a great day!

19. Be Sure And Rise To the Occasion!

Rise to the occasion tomorrow for A Nice Place In The Sun's Tuesday Question! If you haven't commented on Tuesday's Question before come by tomorrow and comment it's fun.

Beginning on August 7th 2007, I've posted on 'A Nice Place In The Sun' a Tuesday Question every Tuesday for my readers to answer! And every Wednesday I've posted the answers, and linked back to the blogs who gave the best answer. However, last weeks responses were so good I posted everyone's comments and linked back to their blog. I liked posting all the participating blogs better than posting just the best answers, since we all became a part of the same post. It was neat, so I decided to post every answer with a link back, and I hope, hope, hope, you'll find your way back to 'A Nice Place In The Sun'! This Tuesday's question will post at 6am!

Thank you for reading, and hope to see you tomorrow. Although, you don't have to come at (6am) to comment, my cat doesn't even get up that early and the comments will not be posted until Wednesday, I just wanted to sound industrious :)

20. The Early Bird Gets The Worm!

I don't know why I titled this The Early bird Gets The Worm, since it doesn't matter what time of the day you answer Tuesdays question. I just liked the title and the image of the little bird with a worm in her mouth. This post is about two things, the first is a reminder to all the readers who play Tuesdays question, that I'm posting another question tomorrow, and to the readers out there who haven't participated, please come by and answer, it's fun! In addition, a special thanks to my readers for being the great sports you are for playing every week! I want like to find a way to design an award of some kind, but I'm a amateur blogger with limited resources; so please accept my offer of a blog review, and link back to your post if your answer is chosen. I will do a great job of your blog review and love you forever, if you are chosen, although, I will love you forever for playing anyway.

Finally the other reason for this post, is to announce that my friend Sandee from Comedy Plus turned out to be the ONLY reader to remind me to get Band-aids! In the last part of my post, At The Mercy Of My Bathroom Faucet, this is what I said, "That's it, except, I feel as if I am forgetting something, which again, I do when I'm in a hurry. Oh well, if it was important I would remember, right? Well, even if there is, there is one thing of which I'm certain, something will surely happen to get my attention, and thereby help me remember."

I laughed when I read her message since I left the post up longer than usual to see if anyone was going to remind me. I waited, and waited, and waited and what do you know? Sandee decides to come home after boating all week-end, while the rest of us are working, reads my post and reminds me to get band-aids! What a valuable friend! Thank you Sandee, and you must have made straight A's in reading comprehension! The rest of you need to link to Comedy Plus, because there is a friend over there, who is a friend in need, and you know what they say about them!

Thanks Sandee, and I just went to Walmart!
