Wow. The Banjo Pigs just keep coming in. It's sooo cool. We just recently passed 275 submissions. Thanks to everyone who has participated and sent in their own Banjo Pig. Feel free to do more. Heck, tell your friends. And a note to all you artists who went to Comic con, it's over now, so now you have time to do a pig. Right?
Here is another quick one. Enjoy.

Another day, another pig. I think I should point out that these pigs are usually my quick and dirty warm-up sketches to start the day. I'm normally working on a deadline for one real job or another and these things just act to get me in the creative mood. They don't normally take a ton of time to do, they are just for fun. I'm really glad so many others have been joining in on the fun too. Just don't let it distract you from your real jobs.
As always, check out the new Banjo Pigs on the Banjo Pig Blog. And, if you get the itch, do one of your own.

The duel continues. This pig looked better painted with real paint rather than digital, but the waterproof pen I used wasn't very waterproof. Fiddlesticks!
And they just keep coming. Check out these other illustrator's pigs!

Bob Nelson (2 pigs*)

A quick and messy one. Maybe an homage to the late Mr. Frazetta.
This little pig went wee wee wee all the way home. He added a new one today.

Here is a little in-between paintings painting. Think of it as a sorbet to cleanse the pallet. Sometimes, when I'm working on a real job, it's nice to take a few minutes every once in a while and do something that doesn't matter. That's where this guy came from. Besides, everyone should draw an oversized mustache every once in a while. It's liberating.

Bonnie impatiently waited...
Warm up sketch with a bit of color added. Kinda lame. I didn't even bother cleaning it up.

I painted this for my friend and excellent illustrator, Stacy Curtis. While I was at it I thought I'd try doing a video of my process. Who knows if this will work. The quality isn't that great, but it gets better near the end. If it is stupid or too fast or whatever, let me know. Come on, it's my first try. Anyway, enjoy. Hope you like it Stacy.

A couple students, Jed Henry and Jake Wyatt, stopped by yesterday for a little studio visit. I was showing them how I prep paintings. Jed told me to draw a goat, which didn't feel Halloweenie enough, so I made it a zombie goat. It was mostly just a lousy sketch with some thin colors on it, but today I decided to finish it up. I think it'll make a nice addition to the Gallery O' Terror.

I'm not saying all giant robots are fierce, but this particular one is. Don't any of you giant robots come stomping my house, okay. I mean, I like robots. The bigger the better. I just saying that some, not all, giant robots are fierce. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I went to my daughters 1st grade class the other day to show them my artwork and how I make a children's book. First graders always come up with some of the funniest questions, mostly unrelated to artwork, and this time was no exception. One little girl was wiggling a loose tooth with a bloody paper towel in one hand, and franticly raising the other to ask me a question. I called on her and she said "I thought you hair would be blacker and that it would cover more of your head." What??? It was hilarious. I didn't know how to respond. Hey kid, I'm sorry that I'm a balding gray haired man. I'm sorry to disappoint you. I promise to try harder...frickin' kids today.

Sweet one Guy! I bet it was hard to draw that pig and make him look that transparent- you got skillz!
Hey it looks great and the technical skill is superb but... I can't allow it without some readings from an EMF detector or something. For all I know, it's a partially transparent tree playing the banjo. Sorry.
ok, I'm laughing out loud, this is fabulous!
