1. Designs to Color is HERE!!!

Hi Tallfellowians, DTC_CVR_HR

We're very excited to announce the publication of Designs to Color. The series from the '60s, '70s and '80s is back and better than ever! It was really the first coloring book for adults and the series sold over a million copies. We're thrilled to reintroduce these great designs to the world again and help people of all ages use their imaginations, de-stress, and just enjoy coloring again. The beauty of DTC is that no two designs will ever be the same and each one is suitable for framing.

In this new version, there are also "finish Your Own" designs that allow you to have even more fun by creating the final design before you color it. And don't forget, any medium will work... markers, crayons, colored pencils, paint, you name it!

So, grab a copy today and get coloring. And share your finished masterpieces with us!

Have fun!

2. Things are afoot at Tallfellow... and a hand and an arm and leg, too!

Hey TFers,

Well, much has happened since we decided to start publishing again. We did indeed publish Really?!!?!, the book about a female humor writer’s adventures in online dating. It made the L. A. Times.

BeginsWithI_CoverFrontBv2And we are in a second printing of our Fall book by Stuart K Robinson, It All Begins With “I” – The “New Rules of Thinking” and the Simple Secrets to living a Rich, Joyous, and Fulfilled Life.  Stuart did a 7- City tour of the U. S. and continues to book speaking engagements around the country. If you want to live the life you’ve always dreamed about, this is the book that will get you there. It is possible!!! And here is a quick look at Stuart in action on his Sizzle Reel (that’s what they call it in the business – don’t worry, your computer won’t spontaneously combust if you watch it!!!)

And, and, we have two great books coming out this Spring. The first is a memoir by John Sacret Young (screenwriter/co-creator of China Beach, writer/producer of The West Wing, author, director, etc., etc.. He’s done a lot!!!) It’s called Pieces of Glass and it’s about his life in the World of Art. We’re calling it an Artoir. Very interesting and illuminating, not just about his life but about American Art in the 20th Century (mostly). I know I learned a thing or two (and my mom was an artist!).

DesignsToColor_Cover1The second book is a nostalgic visit to a series that sold over a million copies at Price Stern Sloan. Designs to Color was really the first adult coloring series back in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. It’s perfect for all those grown-ups who’ve fallen in love with coloring. Whether for stress or just for fun, this book series (the second one will be out in the Fall) offers fanciful trips into new worlds and, when finished, each one is suitable for framing! I guess you could frame them before they’re finished but…

And, and, and, remember our Droodles contests? Well, there’s a rumor that we may be publishing the definitive Droodles book in the Fall. So stay tuned for that and more chances to caption and win.

So, let us know what you think about all our news. And how about a quick contest right now. A free copy of Stuart’s life-changing book to the first person who can tell us the artist who created the Designs to Color series back in the day. Please leave your answer in the Comment section below (just under the date) Good luck!!!

3. Tallfellow Press is alive... It's Alive!!!

Believe it or not, after years of ups and downs, Tallfellow Press is again publishing books (what a concept!). There have been happy times and sad times. The saddest were the losses of our founders, Larry Sloan and Leonard Stern. Suffice it to say, life has not been the same without them.

But we hope that the offerings we will have for you in the next several years will be interesting, fun, inspirational and worthy of the Tallfellow name.

So, please visit our website and read our blog to see what's coming up.

The first book we're publishing is Really?!!?! by Beulah Sanchez (look to the left!). It's One Woman's Adventures of Dating in the Digital Age and not only is it very funny, it's all true. You can hear the author on radio shows all over the country. Stay tuned.

Thanks for reading and let us know if you have questions or comments.

We're glad to be back!!!

4. Dr. Huizenga

Well, our own Dr. Rob Huizenga (Where Did All the Fat Go?) or Dr. H. as he's known by the Biggest Loser contestants has been getting a lot of screen time this season. He's been helping the obese players with the health side of the game (the game of life, really). He wrote the book on losing weight and keeping it off, literally, for life. From the exercise program to the diet, from step-by-step instructions to charts, graphs and photos, not to mention emails from real BL contestants, Dr. H's book has all the components in one place. Read it, do it, live it.

If you've watched the show, you know that it works. There are no excuses left for not getting fit and healthy for you, your loved ones and the world (think obscene medical expenses, procedures etc.)

Now, go.

7. Hello 2009, Droodles and all things Tallfellow

TALLFELLOW NEWS
Well, 2009 is here and we're embracing it with open arms... is that possible? Let's just say we're looking forward to it!
Not only have our authors been getting lots of interviews but our books have been seen here and there, too.
Dennis Palumbo, author of From Crime to Crime, now has his own column on The Huffington Post.
Author Rachel Ingegneri has been quoted in several articles and blogs about the tough job market and how to conquer that job interview once you get it. Her book, Ten Minutes to the Job Interview has everything needed to ace the task.
And Dr. Huizenga, author of Where Did All the Fat Go? has settled into another hit season of NBC's The Biggest Loser... although I don't think he settles into anything, nor does he let any of the contestants settle either. And if you use his book to lose fat (not just weight) you won't be settling for very long.
Steve Young, author of Great Failures of the Extremely Successful, continues to blog and write everywhere! Really. We don't think he sleeps. But it's ok because what he writes is pretty funny and insightful. Google him and you'll see!

And Billy Mernit it speaking over the weekend accompanied by dozens of copies of his great Valentine's appropriate book, That's How Much I Love you. Happy V-Day everyone!

DROODLES, DROODLES, DROODLES

Droodles seems to be as popular as ever. It gets the most traffic at our website (www.Tallfellow.com) and now, you can be the proud owner of Droodles stuff like T-shirts, mugs, calendars, teddy bears and underwear, just to name a few products. Go to Droodles to jump on the bandwagon. Don't be the last person on your block without something Droodles.

And speaking Droodles, it's time to announce the winner of the last Droodles contest and present our new one.

The winner of the last contest (#11) is Pat. Congrats Pat. Pat actually offered two captions, both of which were pretty great... so take your pick for the following Droodle:

8. Mystery is in the air

Just a quick reminder that our author Dennis Palumbo is not just signing books at Vromans this Sunday in Pasadena at 4:00, but he's also teaching a workshop on Writing Mysteries. Here's the description:
For those interested in writing whodunits, plotting is often the most daunting aspect of the narrative. Fear no more. This workshop will take the mystery out of writing mysteries. Moreover, you'll learn that the key to writing a good mystery or crime story is an understanding of how each of the characters' distinct wants and needs collide with those of the other characters. When done right, a good plot reveals character, and good characters make the plot compelling. Whether you're writing the coziest of British-style mystery or the edgiest of hard-boiled thriller, this informative, entertaining workshop is for you.
Dennis is the screenwriter of the film My Favorite Year
and our new book, From Crime to Crime, which is getting great reviews. Dennis is a wonderful, funny guy. He's also a full-time psychotherapist, now, so you might get some free shrink-age. So, come out and meet him, learn some cool stuff and enjoy an afternoon in Pasadena.
See you there!

9. TF News, Droodles Winner and new contest

So, BEA (Book Expo America) is over and, all in all, it was a really good show. Nice weather (when we could get outside!), nice people and great books... not just ours.

We had several of our authors autograph their books and there were lines for all of them. Nice!

Saw lots of old friends from publishing days gone by and met new friends, too.

And, luckily, we skirted disaster (literally) when on, set-up day, an entire wall of the very large booth (about 30 feet) fell over. Our founders, Leonard Stern and Larry Sloan, were standing right there and managed to get out of the way just in time. Could've been really ugly. The chair Leonard had been sitting in moments before was rather mangled. Thank you to the book gods for intervening.

Now, what you've all been waiting for...

10. Spring Titles

So, Spring is officially here, although in L.A. it's more like the dead of Summer. Over 100 degrees this weekend. Hot.
But, Spring means Spring books titles and we've got several. Our book Where Did All the Fat Go? by the doctor behind The Biggest Loser TV show, Dr. Rob Huizenga, is selling well. It should, it reveals the program he developed for the contestants on the show that has resulted in thousands of pounds of weight loss, actually FAT loss, which is what the book is all about. Fat not weight loss. It's even available at GNC store nationwide. They thought it was worthy of being in their stores.

We just released a book by the screenwriter of My Favorite Year, Dennis Palumbo, who left Hollywood behind to become a psychotherapist to the Hollywood community. Interesting! The book is a collection of short mysteries called From Crime to Crime and it features several stories with The Smart Guys Marching Society, a group of guys that get together to talk politics, compare lives and eat deli... they end up solving crimes. It's pretty fun and you can try to solve each mystery before the solution is revealed. Can you?

And our newest books is Ten Minutes to the Job Interview by Rachel Ingegneri. It's the latest in our 10 Minutes 2 Success series and it really tells you everything you need to know to land that job, whether you're a first time job-seeker or a seasoned pro.

Anyway, happy Spring and more info to come soon.

12. Winter Blues

So, Winter is here and it's understandable to be a bit down, right? (Or downright depressed.) But, with Valentine's Day only a kiss away, how can anyone be sad? Even if you don't have a special someone to share it with (like some people I know), you can still celebrate the joy of having people in your life who love you...ok, how about your pet...your car? OK, be glad you love yourself!

And, in case you're looking for the perfect gift for that special someone, check out our incredible discount on our book That's How Much I Love You. It makes a great, romantic offering of love.

And (again), in case you haven't entered the current Droodles Caption Contest (see below), you still have a little time. Hurry up and get your entries in.

15. Sad news

I just heard the sad news that Joseph Stefano passed away recenlty. He was the screenwriter of the famous Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho, among many other credits. He was also a contributor to our book Doing It For Money - The Agony and Ecstasy of Writing and Surviving in Hollywood.

At the end of his essay, he says that he thought about retiring after a difficult episode in the business but he chose not to and added "So, I'm still in the business I love more than I hate and in which I've had more joy than heartbreak."

He will be missed.
