27. Big, big, big annoucement!

The past few days have been busy with sad personal issues related to a friend, but I think it's time for a *little* good news on a Saturday.

I'm shocked, thrilled, beyond excited and SOOOOO happy to announce that Editor K and the team at S&S have decided they'd like FOUR MORE CANTERWOOD BOOKS! So, 13-16, here we come! The official deal will go up on Pub Lunch soon, but I couldn't hold it in any longer and got the okay to share.

I'm incredibly grateful that not only do I get to keep writing these books that I love, but more so that I'm able to work with Kate. We're already brainstorming concepts and I'm just freaking out with excitement about these!

I've got to say thank you so much to Bethany, Mara, Fiona, Liesa and Jon for backing the books and being excited. Team S&S!

Cheers to four more books! :)

28. Favor from my reader girlies

Hey, Reader Girlies!

I've got a HUGE favor to ask...if you have time (as if your schedules aren't jammed enough!) it would *awesome* if you could review a Canterwood Crest book on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Borders.com or any other book site. That might encourage more people to try reading one the books and it would be so great to have more people on Team Canterwood!

No news yet on the TV/movie option, but maybe if they see Team Canterwood being even more active it'll get people excited. :)

You guys rock and look for another video from the latest shoot soon.

Happy weekend! <3

31. *Everyone* read!

Hey guys!

I'm so glad you're all passionate about Canterwood and that you love the characters and their horses as much as I do. :) It's amazing to have support like that. In the previous thread, though, the criticizing each other HAS to stop or I'll have to moderate all comments. I really don't want to do that and it would take up a ton of my writing time. So, can we all share our opinions but be cool?

To the RR prize winners: I've been sick and on a crazy deadline, so your prizes will go out on Monday. Sorry about the delay!

Also, Paige and Lauren are *not* the Mystery Girl. :D

What's everyone doing this weekend?

33. New pic from Canterwood Crest photo shoot

Since we've been talking a lot about Paige Parker this week, I wanted to share another exclusive photo from the shoot for the covers of books 9-12. I'm (on the right) posing with the awesome model who played Paige. We chatted a lot on set and had so much fun.

Starting in January, I'll begin posting video clips and more photos from the shoot. I'll be starting with pics of wardrobe and make up, plus tips via vlogs from top stylists on how to dress like a Canterwood model with an affordable mix of pieces. :)

34. Welcome, Paige Parker!

Introducing...Paige Parker!

I got the okay from Editor Kate to share a pic of Paige, so here she is. Finally! :) The model who plays Paige is sweet, funny and I love this pic of her. Paige will make her debut on the cover of CITY SECRETS (CC #9).

Hope you're all as excited to see Paige as I am to share the photo!

35. Opening this post to questions!

Got something to ask about the books, writing, etc? You can do it here since I'm veeeeeerrrrry backed up on e-mail. I'll do my best to check throughout the weekend and answer as I can. If the question's already been answered, I'll try to point you to the link. :) Check my FAQ at the Canterwood Website or my Website and see if anything there's already answered. If not, ask away!

I'll take questions till Sunday at midnight EST.

Hope you reader girlies are having a fab Black Friday and aren't getting run over by crazy crowds! :)

36. Home Sweet Drama progress

The blog has been a little quiet because I've been working hard on the draft of HOME SWEET DRAMA. I'm 30 pages in and and I usually really get going around page 50. The first 50, for some reason, are always the hardest. It feels like an uphill climb where I'm not sure if I can make it. Even at book eight, I'm crazy paranoid like, "Whoa. What if I can't write another book?!" But then the rational side kicks in and I go back to my chapter by chapter outline and know what I have to do.

So things are moving ahead on that. I typed 9 pages yesterday (eh, but whatever!) and want 10 today. I think it's possible just because of the amount of caffeine I'm about to go out and purchase. :)

Going to be purposely cryptic because it's necessary, but I got the most amazing gift yesterday. BFF got me a signed copy of this author's second book. I'd read the first book and actually wrote on the pages, put sticky notes in the margins and got more out of this book than any other I've ever read. Holding the new book with a note to me inside was so special. So. Amazing.

Anyway...

Will vlog soon! I'm planning to read the first chapter (and likely the second) of BEST ENEMIES. I can't believe it'll be out so soon. Yay!

37. Want an early copy of Best Enemies?

This is going to be a CRAZY week and blogging might be scarce. So...how about a contest? If you'd like to enter to win one of TWO signed copies of BEST ENEMIES (out Oct 20), then leave a comment here and/or on my LiveJournal. Make sure to leave an email address so I can contact you if you win.

You have until Thursday, October 1st at 7am to leave your comment. I'll contact the winners over the weekend for their addresses. I'm only shipping to US addresses, too, so sorry international peeps!

If you want an extra entry, Tweet, Facebook, blog, vlog, etc., about the contest and put a link in your comment. :) Spreading the word about the contest is superhelpful, so thanks in advance!

Soon, I'll be posting a reading of the first and *possibly* second chapter of the book.

Go enter already! :)

39. Canterwood Crest photo shoot pics!

Yesterday was the third photo shoot for the Canterwood series!! We were shooting the covers for books 9-12 and it felt like a reunion of sorts, seeing my girls and the crew. I'm only posting pics that were Tweeted yesterday either by Editor K or I. The rest, hi-res beauties, will be posted around the releases of books 9-12. And maybe a few early ones here and there just to tease. ;) Or, I might post pics for that specfic cover when it's finished and I'm allowed to share it. Then you guys wouldn't have to wait until 2010 to see the videos. That would be sad.

It was a fantastic day. I was up at 4something and the S&S crew (yep, I'm including myself in there) rode together to NJ for the shoot.

We got started around 7something and wrapped around 7:30 that night. Everyone was fabulous and it was the best shoot ever. The covers (ahem, Jessica Handelman) are going to be *insane*. In the best way. Thanks, also, to Russell Gordon for adding his artistic eye to the shoot.

That's Paige Parker getting a wardrobe adjustment as we get ready to shoot. Aren't you guys excited to finally see Paige on a cover?!

This is Editor K almost losing it when Zoe, the bay, tried to sniff her. The coversation after this shot:

Editor K: *shooting shocked/pretend-furious look at Totally Innocent Author* OMG! Why didn't you save me? That horse was about to eat my jacket! You didn't warn me!

Innocent Author: *swallows and fears for her life* I didn't know that was gonna happen! *then laughs not so quietly to herself*

Then full out laughter from both parties ensued. Editor K was also later chased by a bee which, apparently, I should have saved from from as well, LOL. Ooops.

We're getting set up for the first shoot of the day. The models, who are the *sweetest* girls, can turn on the attitude so fast for the camera. Amazing.

One of our photographer's assistants getting the camera ready. Heavy duty, huh?

Finally, my main girl Sasha getting her hair touched up before a shot. Aren't you in LOVE with her shirt? I think this was right before the horse drooled all over her when he stuck his head out of the stall door. She was so great about and got cleaned up and kept going.

Sooo....I also vlogged. All day. I interviewed each model, the stylists and took lots of behind the scenes footage of hair and make up. I'm still figuring out how/when I'll be releasing the vlogs. I reaaalllly want to show you guys all of the video RIGHT NOW. :)

Enjoy the pics and know that when I told the models how much support there is for Team Canterwood, they said to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you who read and love the books.

40. Decatur Book Festival wrap up

Inside The Little Shop of Stories...

A sweet display at the store

I love how cute the store is!

Emerging author stage

Welcome to the Decatur Book Festival!

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of attending and speaking at the Decatur Book Festival. I spoke at 2:30 on Saturday at the Target Children's Stage and had a blast! I met some amazing readers and the audience asked a wide-range of questions. When you get to the end of your talk and you say "Thank you. Any questions?" it's ALWAYS scary. You're convinced no one will ask a question and you'll just stand there, face burning and then run off stage. So thank YOU, audience members, for saving me from that. Much appreciated! :)

I spent time vlogging, chatting with authors I'd been online friends with but hadn't met in person and hanging out in the author suite. It was a great trip and the entire festival was so well organized. The volunteers were beyond friendly and the staff was incredible.

Thanks again, DBF, for having me!

After getting nails done with BFF, I ran over to B&N and saw...Triple Fault! Yaaaay! I signed all of the books and they have the cool green stickers that say "autographed copy." Love. Those.

I just stood there for a second and stared. Four books look kinda pretty. :)
