This is the blog of illustrator Donna Farrell. I still love crayons, construction paper, and Elmer's glue. My hubby and I have three very animated kids and their antics provide me with endless inspiration.

1. Beneath- (illustration friday)

It has been so long since I last blogged, I'm guessing that beneath should read more like under a rock. But I have been creating away and it just so happens that this piece seems to fit the weeks theme.

6. Jack and the beanstalk...

I decided to revisit an illustration that I had done a while back. Here is the redesign.

I always like the composition of the original but felt it fell short.

As artists I think we are always wondering if the direction we are moving in is the one which we want to be moving in.

20. Web Design

Below is the before....

I had the opportunity to redesign Lisa Wheeler's website www.lisawheelerbooks.com . With over 25 picture books under her belt this was a big site. Lisa was great to work with and I love her books. You can see some of my other sites at Simple Web Place.

21. Marsha Hayles

Please take the time to visit my dear friend Marsha Hayles' new site, designed by none other then myself! Marsha, is not only a talented writer but also one of the nicest gals you would ever want to meet. She has a new book coming out next month called "Bunion Burt" that is hysterical! To accompany Marsha's text are the illustrations of Jack E. Davis, I love his work as well, so it was extra cool to be able to see the F+G's before the book is actually out.

22. flying

I was happy to see that this weeks Illustration Friday topic is "Flying". The illustration group I am part of is the Art FLiEs "Art for Little Eyes" we are focused on work for the childrens market. We are in the process of preparing to send out our first promotional mailing, so I'll post more on that soon. They are all wonderful and talented individuals.

23. spotted....

A big thanks go out to Stephanie, who spotted work she believed was mine on a recent shopping trip. She was right. Always fun to see where some of your art lands after you send it off.
