2. Michigan Welcomes Home The Big Ticket Festival in 2014

The Big Ticket Festival known to some as, the Christian Music Festival in Grand Rapids, will be located in Detroit, Michigan on June 18, 2014. It is going to be jamming fun in a good Christian atmosphere. The lineup for the artists is great, and seeing this festival back in the area is a wonderful thing.

This year’s Christian Music Festival in Grand Rapids will be headed by none other than Chris Tomlin. For those of you who do not know this young man, you are in for a treat. He is going to make sure that this Country Music Concert in Northern Michigan is one of the best yet. He has been doing the write ups for Christian Conferences in Michigan for quite a while now, and this is someone who knows how to entertain while keeping the focus on the Lord!

While room was once an issue there has been provisions made to accommodate the Christian Music Festival in Traverse City if the capacity demand calls for it. The area where this amazing Country Music Festival is located this year is a buzz. They are excited to welcome this event back to the area, and they are all hoping that it is home to stay. This is because the event actually originated as a major Country Music Concert in Northern Michigan. The Christian Music Festival quickly outgrew its location forcing them to relocate.

The Christian Music Festival in Michigan actually began in Gaylord back in 2006. It had to eventually be moved because of its rapid outgrowth of its original location. In 2011 it was relocated to larger fairgrounds. This 3 day and 6 stage event is something that you have to see to believe. It is a fun and powerful mission operated by Free Spirit Ministries with the help of numerous sponsors and nonprofit organizations.

The Country Music Festival in Michigan is simply an event that you do not want to miss. You can feel the spirit of the Lord where so many are gathered together in his name. This is a family event that is alcohol and drug free. There is something for everyone to do, and everyone will leave enriched from the experience.

People are encouraged to bring others to the event, as this is the perfect place to win souls for Jesus! With the fellowship, Christina love, food music and atmosphere it is the perfect time for soul harvesting. What an exciting thing to be a part of or bear witness to!

This year’s Christian Music Festival in Michigan lineup has artists like Jars of Clay, Third Day, the Sidewalk Prophets and Thousand Foot Krutch. Others are The Vespers, Chris Tomlin, Mercy Me, Flame, Beacon Light, George Moss, Rapture Ruckus, Matt Maher, Aaron Shust and Nine Lashes plus many, many more. The lineup is simply awesome. More artists are still signing up to perform! It will definitely be an event to remember.

This Country Music Concert in Northern Michigan is a 3 day event featuring 6 stages and more than 100 well known artists, and it has an attendance record that has previously reached 30,000 people. There are sports to play, activities, games, seminar tents and food. There is fellowship and places to purchase things to remember this Christian Conferences in Michigan, as well as to support their mission.

The Christian Music Festival in Traverse City is just an awesome gathering of Christian people loving the Lord and one another. It is great. Again, it is a must see event that you actually feel and leave having something inside you touched. It can be quite a moving experience! For some it is a life changing event and for others it is great family fun.

The welcome back for the Big Ticket Festival from the locals as well as from the Gaylord area’s tourism bureau and various local businesses was more than sincere. The families in northern Michigan need this experience, and even more, they want it. Northern Michigan is a location that craves brotherly love, and they are ready for change. A lot can be done in that location.

The Free Spirit Ministries said, “That mission is a critical part of who we are, and we found we just can’t recreate that experience anywhere else.” They too were glad to be “going home.” There is already a backup plan for larger crowds should they arrive.

The 2014 Big Ticket Festival will be held in Detroit, Michigan on June 18, 2014. It is a place where all Christians from all walks of life and of all ages will be able to come together in brotherly and sisterly love to glorify the Lord.

Again, there will be amazing live music, food and fun. There is a kid’s zone and lots to do, so call and book your spot in one of the largest Christian concerts and fellowship events in the nation.

The children will have an awesome time with Cran-Hill Ranch sponsoring and operating many fun things for them to do. There will be a ton of activities throughout the entire Country Music Festival in Michigan like Karaoke, Dancing, Kids music stages, a huge sandbox that has hidden treasures and a booth for funny family photos. There is also tie dying, puppet shows, inflatable’s, wall climbing and games with prizes just to name some.

For the bigger kids there are some extreme inflatables. Also no strangers to Christian Conferences in Michigan, the STAND Strength Team will be there. They are also a nonprofit group. They go to schools and promote anti-violence and anti-bullying across the nation.

STAND Strength also stands against things like peer pressure, alcohol and drugs. They teach the importance of respect for self and others as well as academic excellence. STAND athletes demonstrate motivation and positivity using strength. They reinforce making good decisions and offer a great motivational message.

Do not miss out on the pre-party events like Big Ticket Country either. The doors will open on June 18th at 5 p.m. and they will remain open until 11 p.m. at Otsego’s fairgrounds in Gaylord, MI. This year’s Christian Music Festival in Grand Rapids is going to be one for the record books, and we hope to see you there!

5. How to Choose a Diamond

Amazing and flawless diamonds in Los Angeles are a rare find if you do not know where the upper crust lingers. Diamond & Estate Trust is a private and secure place to sell or purchase diamonds and other rare jewels. Now, finding diamonds in Los Angeles is a breeze, and the affordability of these precious jewels is remarkable too.

Purchasing diamonds in Los Angeles through Diamond & Estate Trust is a safe and private experience. You are treated fairly, and only the most experiences jeweler’s will be on staff to help you throughout the process. After all, truly knowing how to choose a diamond is an art.

A lot goes into knowing the true quality of a diamond or any other precious gem. You have to keep the four C’s in mind: carat, color, cut and clarity. Don’t cut corners.

Consider the budget and purchase the highest cut quality that it will allow. Your jeweler will be able to walk you through the charts if you would like to see them, and they can also explain the clarity and grade of the diamonds that you are considering.

You may want to look at the first diamond with more than the naked eye. There are 10X magnifying glasses available in most jewelers’ locations, and these will show the flaws in the stone. You do not want a stone with a visible flaw to the naked eye.

There are also color options like D grade, ice white and fine white just to name some. You will have a professional to walk you through these differences as well as they are significant to the price of the stones that are being considered. You will also want to inquire about the fluorescence of the diamond. If it is oily or milky looking under UV lights it could reduce the value of the stone considerably.

Carat is one of the important aspects of  picking diamonds in Los Angeles. That is after all what the “good stuff” is measured by! The more carats there are the more money you are going to spend. While it is seemingly the underlying basis of value it should be the last thing considered. It is the “stone quality” that you need to confirm first.

So, have a budget in mind when you come in. Do a little bit of research on diamond quality and pricing. Leave the rest to the jeweler’s that are trained to help you make the best decision. They can even offer advice on popular cuts for different occasions.
Don’t take chances with your privacy or security, and always go with people that you know that you can trust.

Never shop online with a company that you have never heard of. You want to see, feel and compare the stones before making the investment, and diamonds are investments.
Diamond & Estate Trust is located at the Pershing Square Building at 448 S Hill St, Suite 415 in LA, CA. You can easily contact them by calling 213.622.9700 or 213.622.9711.

8. How a Cosmetic Dentist Can Make it Easier to Laugh

A laugh could be described as an exaggerated smile. Unless it’s a giggle, a laugh involves showing your teeth, whether they be straight and white or crooked and stained. Laughing is good for your health in a number of ways, but doing it confidently will almost certainly require the services of a cosmetic dentist in Miami FL.

Laughter itself results from a chain reaction of physiological events occurring in a fraction of a second. After a person sees, hears or thinks about something that is funny, an electrical impulse travels to the cerebral cortex portion of the brain that is responsible for comprehension. The left hemisphere of the cortex analyzes the concept while the right hemisphere grasps the concept viscerally. The limbic system, which has control over human emotions, then creates a sense of happiness that the motor system turns into the outburst known as a laugh.
Researchers have shown how a good laugh can help a person physically and emotionally, although some observers believe that the benefits may lie in certain social effects due to the fact that laughing is normally a group activity.
For whatever the reason, laughter is known to lower blood pressure and increase oxygen levels in the blood, which makes it a good form of exercise. In the same manner as does physical activity, laughing exercises certain muscles of the body, including those in the legs, abdomen and back. Additionally, it has been proven to reduce certain hormones in the body that can induce stress, including adrenaline and dopamine, while increasing endorphins, which are hormones that enhance a person’s health.
Laughing can even expand human aptitude by increasing a person’s ability to learn and remember things. From a psychological standpoint, laughing can help clear the mind by distracting a person away from anger, guilt and other negative thoughts. People can find humor in movies, television, reading materials and by listening to others, but one of the best ways to get a laugh is by being tickled by somebody else. You may not associate laughing with dentistry, but maybe you should. Whether it be with the help of porcelain veneers, implants or whitening gels, your smile can be made to look laughingly lovable with the right dental care. It is this type of care that is available from a cosmetic dentist in Miami FL.

9. Facing DUI Penalties in New Jersey

It is safe to assume that in Newark, NJ, every reasonable man and woman has been told and told again that you should never drink and drive. We are told in our high school drivers education class, we are told by M.A.D.D. commercials and we are told by our family and friends. There is no doubt that drinking and driving is a dreadful mix, too often resulting in irreversible tragedies. There are those who have made an error in judgment and climbed behind the wheel after one too many and those who have an addiction problem; they who cannot help themselves without getting help from others. Such as the example of a New Jersey man arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol not once or twice but three times in a single week. He was arrested the final time after running from police and crashing into a fire hydrant. Thankfully, no one was injured in any of his drunken incidents.

Fortunately, not all of us suffer from such addiction but occasionally we may enjoy a social event, out for a meal with some family or friends, or maybe attending a gathering at a friend or families home. There may be alcohol and if so, what happens if you have had just a little too much, just one little drink too far? Driving under the influence must be avoided but sometimes, we make mistakes. In New Jersey, if you have a blood alcohol concentration of .08% or more, you are driving under the influence (DUI). If you climbed into your car and are now being pulled over, it quickly dawns on you how bad the choice really was. Nevertheless, when a person is pulled over by a law enforcement officer, there are rights and protections that are guaranteed. One of those fundamental rights is the ability to seek counsel from a DUI Lawyer in Newark NJ.

Facing any form of criminal charge, at any level is serious and it requires an intelligent, competent and aggressive defense from an experienced DUI Lawyer in Newark NJ. Because even a misdemeanor could impact your life for years. It is critically essential that your legal issues are resolved quickly and yet more importantly, resolved properly with an attorney who understands the NJ courts. Everyone makes mistakes in life and if you face a DUI, it is important to take action to protect your freedom.

10. Luxury Condominiums An Asset to Miami

Biscayne Beach Project Strengthens Miami’s Drive for Metropolitan Status
The latest buzz on Luxury Condos in Miami Beach FL is the Biscayne Beach project, and it is stirring up a lot of excitement. Part of a new condo boom, the official sales office opened last week, but it has been attracting potential buyers for quite some time. Of its 399 units, 244 are already reserved, 10 percent of which are now contracts.

As Miami thrusts forward to become a major metropolitan city, the luxury condominium project Biscayne Beach will strengthen that effort when it breaks ground this spring.

Biscayne Beach will be completed in 2016, rising 51 stories high, and featuring 12 cabanas along its 344 linear feet of bay front property. These luxury condos in Miami Beach FL will boast amenities that include a zero-entry beach pool, tennis courts, full gym and spa, a restaurant, play and business rooms, and an additional pool on the sixth floor.

Luxury Condominium project Biscayne Beach, Brings the Beach to the City
Since Biscayne Beach luxury condos are located in the heart of the city of Miami, the airport is also accessible via the rapid transit, a great benefit to the Biscayne Beach project. Its most desirable asset however, is its location directly along Biscayne Bay, in the East Edgewater district, allowing Biscayne Beach luxury condominiums to bring the beach to the city.

The East Edgewater neighborhood is destined for high-end residents and to become a hub for exclusive shopping, dining, and arts and culture. The recent opening of the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the $35 million Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, currently under construction are indicative of this fast-growing, up and coming, first-rate area.

No doubt that these luxury condominiums will interest the many foreign buyers already attracted to the popularity Miami is gaining, as well as a growing number of buyers from New York, and even prominent locals. Preconstruction prices for the Biscayne Beach project range from $400,000 to million dollar prices for 885 to 3,789 square feet and high class penthouses.

The Biscayne Beach project is one of 47 new condo towers projected for the Greater Downtown Miami market. As buyers advance with enthusiasm to the newly developing area, these Luxury Condos in Miami Beach FL strengthen Miami’s efforts to be on the world map of major cosmopolitan cities to visit.

Today I have an interview with the amazing Mari Mancusi, along with my review of Scorched, and a giveaway!

Feel free to leave any questions or comments you may have for Mari, as she will be stopping by today (9/11/13) to answer them/comment back!

16006945
Title: Scorched
Author: Mari Mancusi
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire
Publication Date: September 3rd 2013
Genre: YA Fantasy/Dragons

Blurb:
Trinity
Don’t leave me here... It starts with a whisper. At first Trinity thinks she’s going crazy. It wouldn’t be a big surprise—her grandpa firmly believes there’s a genuine dragon egg in their dusty little West Texas town. But this voice is real, and it’s begging for her protection. Even if no one else can hear it...
Connor
He’s come from a future scorched by dragonfire. His mission: Find the girl. Destroy the egg. Save the world.
Caleb
He’s everything his twin brother Connor hates: cocky, undisciplined, and obsessed with saving dragons.
Trinity has no idea which brother to believe. All she has to go by is the voice in her head—a dragon that won’t be tamed.

***My Review***
I first heard about Scorched at BEA '13. Since I have read Mari's Blood Coven Vampire series(which I loved), I was very curious to see that she had written something completely different, and I couldn't wait to dive in. Scorched was a mish-mash of fantasy, sci-fi, romance, and time travel. This could have been a recipe for disaster, but through Mari's spectacular writing and execution, an amazing story was born.
The story is told through three different characters' perspectives. Trinity's chapters are written in first-person narration, which really helps to let the reader get inside her head. I feel that this was very important in order to connect with her on a deeper level. It also gave me more insight into her emotions when she begins to hear Emmy's(a dragon) voice in her head. Conner and Caleb's chapters were written in third-person narration, which gives the feeling that they are different from Trinity in a major way. Since they are from the future, and therefore not of Trinity's "world" per-se, I felt the choice was spot-on.
The main characters were written beautifully, and I was emotionally invested in every single one. I felt as though I really got to know Trinity, Caleb, and Conner quite well even before they meet in the book.
There were some extremely tense and emotional moments in Scorched. The pacing is fast, as many action scenes drive the plot. You will keep turning the pages with that "need" to know what will happen next. I loved how the story was broken down into five parts, each with a title perfectly fitting each part. It was fun when, after you finished a "part", you could say "Wow, THAT'S why it was called ____". There were also a few shocking revelations that I never saw coming where my mouth(and heart) literally dropped to the floor!
I had a feeling I was going to enjoy this book just from reading the blurb and having read Mari's work in the past. What I didn't know was how emotionally invested I would get, until I found my heart in my throat many times while reading. Scorched is a beautifully written story of a girl caught in the middle of something she dosen't understand, but trying to stay true to herself and do the right thing. I won't say too much on this, but if you are someone who needs love/romance in your books, you will find what you need and more in this one.
Overall, I feel that Mari really hit a homerun with Scorched. Even though this book is meant to be more emotional and intense(a great thing), fans of her Blood Coven Vampire series will find pieces of her engaging humor here too(an equally great thing).
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves YA fantasy, sci-fi, romance, or just dragons in general! Of course if your already a fan of Mari's work, why are you not reading this right now?!?! Intense, engaging, emotional, and surprising...a must read!
My Rating:
5/5 STARS
***Interview with Mari Mancusi***

1.)Welcome to Jessabella Reads, Mari! I am soo excited to have you on the blog today. I am obsessed with the world of Scorched, where did you get the inspiration for it?

Thank you! I’ve always loved both sci-fi and fantasy so I thought it would be fun to mash up the two. I like to credit the movie Terminator for much of my inspiration, though instead of a robot/machine apocalypse, Scorched deals with a dragon apocalypse. I’ve always loved dragon books – from Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern series to Robin McKinley’s Hero and the Crown.

2.) I really connected with all of the characters in your story. Which character was your favorite to write and why?

I think Caleb is my favorite to write. He’s sarcastic and sardonic, but also hiding a lot of angst. He comes off as a jerk sometimes, but he really loves Trinity and would do anything for her.

3.) What are you reading right now?

Prodigy by Marie Lu and Doll Bones by Holly Black.

4.) What are your "must-haves" when sitting down to write?

Coffee and silence. I’m not one of those writers who does great writing in a café setting. I prefer a quiet office where I can read aloud what I’ve written. I also have surrounded myself with lots of dragon inspiration. From stuffed dragons to dragon portraits on the wall.

5.) If you could inhabit the body of any character in Scorched for 24 hours, which one would you choose and why?

I think it’d be fun to be Trinity at the point where she gets to go into the Nether and fly on Emmy’s back. There’s just something about the idea of flying on a dragon that I know would be awesome. I just hope she can get over her fear of heights and allow me to enjoy my ride!

6.) Dragons are one of my favorite paranormal creatures. Tell us why you decided to write about them.

Dragons are beautiful and majestic creatures that can bond telepathically with humans and fly through the sky. Who wouldn’t want to write about them? That said, most dragon books take place in some kind of fantasy kingdom or some distant past. I wanted to explore what it’d be like to bring them to present day Texas. Dragons trending on Twitter, anyone?

7.) What are some of your literary inspirations? Favorite books/authors?

My favorite book is Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. It is basically a feminist retelling of Arthurian legend and is just so enthralling and beautifully written.

For a more modern author, I’m obsessed with Cassandra Clare. I love how she masterfully mixes humor with action/adventure.

8.) Personally, I will read anything you write! Any hints about what we can EAGERLY anticipate from you next?

Thank you! Next up is Shattered, book 2 of the Scorched series, which will continue the adventures of Trinity, Connor, Caleb and Emmy. It takes place three months after the first book ends and it’s getting more and more difficult to hide out from the world—with Emmy getting bigger everyday!

Also, if you liked Scorched, I suggest you check out Tomorrow Land and Alternity, two standalone novels I published a while back that were recently re-released. Tomorrow Land is a standalone zombie novel and Alternity is kind of Matrix-y. But they’ve both got kind of a similar feel to Scorched.

Rachel died at two a.m . . . Three hours after Skyler kissed me for the first time. Forty-five minutes after she sent me her last text.
Jaycee and Rachel were best friends. But that was before. . .before that terrible night at the old house. Before Rachel shut Jaycee out. Before Jaycee chose Skyler over Rachel. Then Rachel is found dead. The police blame a growing gang problem in their small town, but Jaycee is sure it has to do with that night at the old house. Rachel’s text is the first clue—starting Jaycee on a search that leads to a shocking secret. Release Date: February 25th 2014
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy/Paranormal

Blurb:
A modern day thrill ride, where a teen girl and her animal companion must participate in a breathtaking race to save her brother's life—and her own.
Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can't determine what's wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She's lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she's helpless to change anything.

The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can't trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?

***First Excerpt Reveal***
I drove across the US of A, left my family without an explanation, and now I’m either too late or there was never anything here to begin with. F my life. Rearing back, I kick the door as hard as I can. Then I wrap both hands around the door handles and release a noise like a wild banshee as I pull back.
The doors swing open.
I’m not sure whether to celebrate or freak out. I decide to do neither and slip inside. As I walk around the inside of the museum, listening to the sound of my footsteps echo off the walls, I imagine I am moments from death. It’s sad, I think, that this is all it takes to break my sanity.
Two curling flights of stairs bow out from the first-floor lobby, and red and white tiles cover the floors. There are gilded picture frames everywhere. So many that I think the placement of the frames — and not their contents — is the real art. Everything, absolutely everything, smells like wax. I mosey up to an abandoned reception desk and leaf through the glossy pamphlets littering the surface. I hold one of the pamphlets up to my nose. Yep, wax.
I glance around, having no idea what to look for. Will there be a sign like at school registration? Students with last names A–K this way?
On my left, I notice a long hallway dotted with doors on either side. Nothing looks particularly unusual. But when I glance to my right, I spot something. There’s a door at the end of the corridor that has a sliver of light glowing beneath it. I’m sure it’s just an administration office, one where someone forgot to flip the switch. But I’ve got nothing better to go on, so I head toward it.
I pause outside the door, wondering if I’m about to get busted for B&E. Then I turn the handle and find myself at the top of another winding staircase.
You’ve got to be kidding me. What is this, Dracula’s bachelor pad?
I’ve watched a lot of scary movies, and I’ve learned nothing good is ever at the bottom of a winding staircase. Pulling in a breath and preparing myself to be eaten alive, I head down. My shoes are loud against the steps. So loud, I imagine they are intentionally trying to get me killed.

When I reach the final few stairs, I ready myself to look around the bend. My heart is racing, and I secretly pray the worst I encounter is an angry janitor with a wax addiction. I turn the bend — and my eyes nearly pop from my skull.
The enormous room is perfectly circular, dotted with candles to light the space. Surrounding the walls are rows and rows of dark, rich mahogany bookshelves. A large round table stands in the center of the red-and-white-tiled floor. The room is spectacular, but what it holds is so jarring, my ears ring.
Across every shelf, every spot on the table, every tile on the floor — are small sculptures of hands. And in a few of those hands — the ones still performing their duty — are eggs. There are only nine eggs left, it seems. For a moment, I imagine how amazing it would have been to see each hand holding an egg, but it’s enough just to see these nine.
The eggs seem to dance in the candle flame, and as I move closer, I realize why. The surfaces of the eggs are almost iridescent, their colors changing depending on how you look at them. They are different sizes, too; some as big as a basketball, others as small as a peach.
I don’t need the device in my pocket to tell me what my gut already knows.
This is the Pandora Selection Process.

***GUEST POST***
by Ednah Walters
How Do I Find Time to Write (while raising five children, a husband, and having an ADHD cat.)

Writing is like reading, which means I have to do it or I’ll go insane. I accepted that a long time ago. My husband gets it. The kids get it (most of the time). The mice get it. BUT darn it, the cats just don’t seem to get it.

They sleep on my keyboard. Stand on their hind legs, lift themselves up and nudge me with their front paws. They curl up on my chair and act like I’m bothering them when I try to kick them out. And when pick them up and put them outside my door, that’s when they push on the door like bratty little kids. I swear, my cats are possessed. One is worse than the others.

So what do I do when I wanted to write undisturbed, I turn on the radio, lock the door and write. Don’t call animal control on me, okay? They are well fed and their litter cleaned, and their fur brushed. By the way, this is what happens when kids are not at school. The cats get to bug them when they are at home.

During school days:

M/W/F: I drop the kids off at school, come home, check my e-mail, stop by FB to check DMs, swing by my critique group because we always check in on Mondays, then I fast draft. For 2-3 hours, I write and do research… Do research and write, until lunch time(cup of spicy noodle soup or salad). In the afternoons, I do internet rounds then going over what I wrote in the morning.

Pick up kids time at 3, take them to their activities, back home and cook while they do their homework. Translate that to chaos in the kitchen/dining room area. After dinner, the kids get to watch something on Netflix (we don’t have TV, we watch everything online) while I sneak in an hour of writing.

Then it is off to listening to audiobooks (while I either clean up the kitchen or write-if I get my teenage daughter or son don’t have homework and remember to do it).

After everyone is in bed at 9:30, I’m back writing until mid-night.

T/Th, I mix it up a little. I have zumba class from 9-10, then back to writing. Saturday morning, zumba in the morning then back to writing as the kids take their piano lessons. Afternoons, some fun time with the kids—crafts, movies, games, laundry.

Sunday, rest time, movies at the theater, folding laundry, picnic or we go fishing in the summer. During winter, DH and the kids ski while I sit in the lodge and type (I hate downhill skiing).

18. Off to Oz Giveaway: Choice of any retelling, time travel, or classic fairy tale book!

Welcome to my stop on the Off to Oz Giveaway Hop hosted by Angela's Anxious Life and I Am A Reader, Not A Writer!

This hop features books about time travel, classic fairy tales, and retellings!

Here are two books that I have recently read and LOVED that (I feel) fit with the theme of this hop:
16102412
Centuries after wars nearly destroyed civilization, the two islands of New Pacifica stand alone, a terraformed paradise where even the Reduction—the devastating brain disorder that sparked the wars—is a distant memory. Yet on the isle of Galatea, an uprising against the ruling aristocrats has turned deadly. The revolutionaries’ weapon is a drug that damages their enemies’ brains, and the only hope is rescue by a mysterious spy known as the Wild Poppy.
On the neighboring island of Albion, no one suspects that the Wild Poppy is actually famously frivolous aristocrat Persis Blake. The teenager uses her shallow, socialite trappings to hide her true purpose: her gossipy flutternotes are encrypted plans, her pampered sea mink is genetically engineered for spying, and her well-publicized new romance with handsome Galatean medic Justen Helo… is her most dangerous mission ever.
Though Persis is falling for Justen, she can’t risk showing him her true self, especially once she learns he’s hiding far more than simply his disenchantment with his country’s revolution and his undeniable attraction to the silly socialite he’s pretending to love. His darkest secret could plunge both islands into a new dark age, and Persis realizes that when it comes to Justen Helo, she’s not only risking her heart, she’s risking the world she’s sworn to protect.
In this thrilling adventure inspired by The Scarlet Pimpernel, Diana Peterfreund creates an exquisitely rendered world where nothing is as it seems and two teens with very different pasts fight for a future only they dare to imagine.

Note: Across a Star-Swept Sea is the sequel/companion novel to For Darkness Shows the Stars, which was equally amazing. If you haven't read For Darkness yet, I would suggest you read it first.

13514612"You have to kill him." Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain.
Only Em can complete the final instruction. She’s tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present—imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called the doctor while war rages outside.
Marina has loved her best friend James since the day he moved next door when they were children. A gorgeous, introverted science prodigy from one of America’s most famous families, James finally seems to be seeing Marina in a new way, too. But on one disastrous night, James’s life crumbles apart, and with it, Marina’s hopes for their future. Now someone is trying to kill him. Marina will protect James, no matter what. Even if it means opening her eyes to a truth so terrible that she may not survive it. At least not as the girl she once was.
All Our Yesterdays is a wrenching, brilliantly plotted story of fierce love, unthinkable sacrifice, and the infinite implications of our every choice.

So what am I giving away?
The two books above are just my suggestions, but I will allow the winner to choose any retelling, time travel, or classic fairy tale. (It must fit one of the three genres.)
The book you choose has to be under $20 and will ship from The Book Depository. It is okay if you choose a book that has not been released yet, and I will do a pre-order for you.

21. "Waiting On" Wednesday: Minders by Michele Jaffe

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My WoW pick this week is:

18079614
Title: Minders
Author: Michele Jaffe
Publisher: Razorbill
Publication Date: January 30th 2014
Genre: Young Adult Sci-Fi
ISBN:  9781595146588

Blurb:
A high concept, cinematic read with a surprising twist,MINDERS asks the question: who is really watching who?

Q: If the boy you love commits a crime, would you turn him in?

Sadie Ames is a type-A teenager from the wealthy suburbs. She's been accepted to the prestigious Mind Corps Fellowship program, where she'll spend six weeks as an observer inside the head of Ford, a troubled boy with a passion for the crumbling architecture of the inner city. There's just one problem: Sadie's fallen in love with him.

Q: What if the crime is murder?

Ford Winters is haunted by the murder of his older brother, James. As Sadie falls deeper into his world, dazzled by the shimmering pinpricks of color that form images in his mind, she begins to think she knows him. Then Ford does something unthinkable.

Q: What if you saw it happen from inside his mind?

Back in her own body, Sadie is faced with the ultimate dilemma. With Ford's life in her hands, she must decide what is right and what is wrong. And how well she can really ever know someone, even someone she loves.

I think this cover is genius because it fits perfectly with the summary. I LOVE how their heads are breaking off into these chunks/pieces and then said chunks/pieces converge to form the title. I almost feel as if I'm eye raping this cover every time I look at it.(As creepy as that may sound.)  : )~
This sounds like a very interesting concept, and I am extremely interested to see how it will be executed. It has the potential to be a very intense, emotional, and thrilling read. I love how the blurb is written in Q & A form. It's different, and it really makes you think about how you might answer them. And when you think about it, what seems like the obvious answer, may not be so black and white.

What are you waiting on this week?

Title: Resilient
Author: Patricia Vanasse
Publisher: Pants On Fire Press
Publication Date: June 27th 2013
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal Romance

Blurb:
Livia has never felt like she fits in. As normal as it sounds, Livia is anything but ordinary. She can feel every emotion of every single person around her, and it’s maddening. In pursuit of some psychic quiet, she moves with her family from New York City to Whidbey Island in the lush and sleepy Pacific Northwest. But when a horseback riding accident in her new home gives her a broken leg that heals in a day, she finds that another unexplainable ability has manifested, and her life isn’t about to get any easier.
Adam has no problem fitting in and making friends. In fact, he’s the top of the school, the boy everyone knows and loves. However, people only see what he allows them to. No one knows what Adam is truly capable of. After witnessing Livia’s accident, Adam sees something intriguing in her quick recovery, something that gives him hope that he’s not alone.
Adam is the only one whose emotions Livia can’t read. Afraid of not knowing what goes on behind his dark eyes, Livia decides to keep him at a distance. Yet the more she tries to ignore him, the more alluring he becomes, and while their personal quests for identity will inevitably bring them closer together, it is the confirmation of what they really are that threatens to tear them apart.
Resilient, told in alternating point of views, is a gripping story of survival and romance, in which two teenagers face the consequences of being anything but normal.

Livia
Thank you Jessica for having me over!
Your welcome! I am so excited to have you on the blog today, and for taking the time to answer some of my questions!

1.) How would you describe your personality in a few words?

Stubborn, uptight, and caring.

2.) What are the pros/cons to being able to read other peoples emotions?

Before I met Adam, I didn’t see any pros with being able to feel people’s feelings. It’s not fun to have my calm and happy emotions taken over by a strong sadness that brings tears to my eyes or have my stomach twist from a sudden intense anger that belongs to some person who just walked by.  It can be really unpleasant. Not only because it hurts, but also because I can’t do anything to help that person in need. It makes me feel powerless. The only good thing about my ability is knowing if the person I just met has good or bad intentions. It helps me to know where that person stands. When I met Adam and couldn’t read him, that’s when I first realized that my ability had its good side as well. I felt lost not knowing what he was feeling while looking at me.

3.) What is your relationship with your family like?

We have a good relationship because my parents are open minded and not judgmental. I feel like I can talk to them about anything.

4) What were your thoughts when meeting Adam for the very first time?

The first time I saw him he was not so nice. Actually, I thought he was a stuck up jerk! Haha! But I did feel the physical attraction, I mean, Adam is very handsome and very confident. That kind of drew me to him.

5) What are some things you like most about Adam? Does he have any annoying habits?

He has the habit of running his hands through his hair non-stop, but it’s not too annoying.  He also has that mysterious side grin, and I can never figure out why it’s there.

6) What kind of music would I find on your iPod?

Alternative and Folk Rock. So, anything from Coldplay to Mumford and Sons.

7) Do you like to read? If so, name a few of your favorite authors.

I love to read, but I don’t read too frequently like Adam does. I like non-fiction, and one of my favorites is The Pregnancy Project by Gaby Rodriguez.

8) What are some things that make you unique as a person?(aside from feeling emotions!)

I don’t know, I feel like I’m more mature than my peers, and sometimes I feel like I don’t belong for reasons other than just my abilities. I was abandoned when I was just days old and grew up expecting to be rejected by people. Maybe that made me more independent, and I grew up too fast.

9) What advice would you give to other teens who don't feel as though they "fit in"?

I believe deep down everyone feels like they don’t fit in. Some try harder, and some just don’t care. I would say to look for friends who will accept you for who you are and be around people who you feel conformable with. Sometimes your complete opposite is the person who gets you the most, but sometimes no one does. All that matters is that you know where you stand with yourself.

I am a professional writer with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing and a minor in grammar. I have also attended several years of classes and workshops in screenplay writing at the Los Angeles Screenplay writer’s Expo. I love suspense thrillers and am a master at plot and character development. I enjoy stories with happy endings. I promise all my readers that when they put one of my books down or walk away from one of my movies, they will be enthused with excitement and joy. This does not mean there will not be some sad parts, because you have to feel the bitter in order to understand the sweet. In fact, I have struggled with Dyslexia my whole life, so you can imagine how overjoyed I was when DiSemblance won a Silver metal in the fantasy/science fiction category at the eLit awards in 2012.
