                             My Rapunzel Braid

My thick, long and silky hair was more of my granny’s obsession than mine. It was suddenly one day, after reading Rapunzel’s tale that I decided not to cut my hair anymore. The thick and long golden braid of Rapunzel, coming down the tall tower had caught up my fancy. Finally crying and stamping my feet on the floor proved fruitful in getting me spared from the scissors of our very own haircutter – my mom. By the time I was eight years old, I had a thick and really long braid like Rapunzel! Every Sunday was a busy day for me and granny. She would massage my hair with coconut oil mixed with herbs, which would follow washing with a mixture of amla (gooseberry) and henna powder. She would carefully dry my hair completely so that no moisture is left to cause me cold. And finally she would comb it into beautiful braids. It was almost a 2 hours procedure and I would grumble all through it, not realising that it was actually a hair treatment for which one would spend hundreds in a spa.
Thanks to her Sunday massages, I never had the problem of split ends with my hair and I was the most rocking girl actually named Rapunzel in the college. But after my granny passed away, the lengthy Sunday ritual was replaced by daily shampooing and soon it started showing dreadful affects. By the time I was out of college, my hair was reduced to half both in length and thickness. The spit ends continued ruining my crowning glory. Luckily, of late, I discovered this magical ‘Dove Split Ends Rescue  System’ and believe me it worked wonders for my hair. My split ends are now a thing of the past. Thanks to the Dove Split Ends Rescue System, I have got my trademark Rapunzel-braid back! At last, I got a perfect replacement for my childhood hair treatment and had this been around some twenty years back, maybe, I and my granny would have spent those two hours every Sunday in something more interesting!   .

An abstract from 'THE DOOMSDAY' - my first ebook soon to be available on all ebook stores.

Within hours they are all set to implement it even if it meant no international support.
They are now about to begin the process when out of the blue they get receive the
green signal for their plan from Florida Research Centre.
Within no time, all the space centres world over began working together on Dr. Ahuja’s
plan. Everybody is very impressed with Dr. Ahuja. They are glad that someone could
come up with a solution and so act on time. Dr. Ahuja had become the hero of the day!
The heartbeat rises as the comet approaches.
There was only one question in their mind; will the world come to an end tonight?
Its evening and Divya is still glued to the telescope. The comet is more bright and clear
now. It has a reddish glow around it. She runs down to the living room and switches on
the T.V.
“They are showing the satellite image of the comet”. Divya calls out to her mom.
Satellites are being programmed to push the comet away from the Earth. It has been
hours and the whole world is watching.
“This could be our last breath on this planet.” Divya murmurs.
Divya keeps on tracking the progress of the operation via news. She keeps dozing in
between and then waking up herself again.
“Divya, go to your room and sleep.” Her mom tries to convince her to be calm.
“No! I want to watch for some more time please.” She sat up straight again listening to
every detail the news provided.
Suddenly, she heard loud speakers shouting outside, “Wake up! Get alert
everyone!
The comet has gone, but it has left behind a big ball of fire which may land anywhere
near our city.”
She steps outside in her garden and sees people standing on their respective terraces
with binoculars. Then all of a sudden there were shouts, “it’s coming down here.”
everybody runs inside.
Divya looks up. She sees some giant red hot ball coming down towards her. She wants
to shout for help, but her voice is choked. She looks up helplessly. It is coming right
towards her. She can feel the heat of the fire. She closes her eyes to meet her end.
THUD!
It falls few metres away from her. It has made a huge pit in the ground and is flaring like
molten lava inside it. She sits there shocked. The heat is making her faint.
Soon, she hears fire-engine bells coming to her rescue. She closes her eyes and folds
her hands to pray. She then faints because of the smoke. The ringing is becoming
louder and louder. She is sure she is going to die!
Oh!
To her relief, it is the doorbell that is ringing. She realizes that it is only a dream. She
opens the door. It’s her dad carrying a weary look on his face.

                         Lazy Jhumroo

It was a bright sunny day. Jhumroo, the grasshopper was merrily dancing on the leaves of tall green grass. He sang and danced while all others around him worked hard. He thought 'Oh! how foolish they are! one can work afterwards but this lovely weather won't last long.' He saw the colorful butterflies hovering over the flowers to collect nectar. He called out to them,"Hi friends!lovely day, isn't it? why not come and dance with me?" They smiled and replied,"No, friend. We have to make good use of this weather before it starts snowing. Why don't you join us and work for the days ahead when there will be nothing to eat around." "No way! I'm happy the way I am." He replied carelessly.

After some time he saw a long queue of ants carrying grain on their backs. He said laughingly, "Ha! Ha! why are you working like slaves? You have enough food on your back for today. Come, play with me." One of the ants replied,"Jhumroo, we are saving food for the winter. Why don't you do the same?" Jhumroo again replied carelessly,"Forget it. I don't believe in saving. I'm happy the way I am."
Soon winter approached and it was snow everywhere. Everything was covered with a thick blanket of snow. Jhumroo was not able to find any food for last two days. Today it was impossible to even step out of the house. But unable to bear the hunger, he came out. Now he regretted not listening to the ants and butterflies. Everyone else was indoors, enjoying the saved food, while he was wandering out in cold. He felt too weak to stand and fell down. Luckily, the ants saw him and carried him inside. They gave him something to eat and said, "If you had worked during the sunny days, you wouldn't have been in this condition." Jhumroo replied, "Yes, I realize my mistake now."
The ants were kind enough to let him stay with them all through the winter. When spring came, Jhumroo changed himself into a hard working grasshopper.

Snow white - The story beyond 'They lived happily ever after'

Snow white's story so far is well known to everyone. But this story begins after the prince marries snow white and they live happily ever after.
The prince and snow white were living peacefully in the palace away from the wicked step-mother of hers. One day, the step-mom asks her magic mirror "mirror! mirror! on the wall, who's the fairest of all?" The mirror replies, "Snow white". Step-mom gets furious. She herself had given her poisonous apple so how could she survive? The mirror shows her living happily with the prince.

The step-mom visits her and asks her to stay with her for a few days. She also apologizes for all her past deeds. The prince and Snow white happily forgives her and Snow white accepts her invitation. But the cunning step-mom had dangerous plans. One day, on the pretext of making her hair she makes her sit in front of the magic mirror. Then with her magical powers she brings her reflection out and traps Snow white in the mirror.  She laughs with joy,"Ha! Ha! Ha!, now you no longer exists in this world, only your reflection remains. So, I am the most beautiful women forever and ever in this world!" She then asks the mirror "So, mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of all?" The mirror replies "undoubtedly, you madam!"
The step-mom then sends Snow white's reflection to the prince. The reflection doesn't talk and remains sad always. The prince could not understand her strange behavior. One day, an old dwarf comes to the palace and tells him the truth. He says, "oh, prince, please believe me. Snow white is trapped in the mirror and this is only her reflection. She will remain in the mirror forever if her step-mom breaks the mirror exactly at midnight on the full moon night. You must go and stop her." Prince along with Snow white's reflection behind on his horse sets out in search of the step mom.
Snow white, inside the mirror calls out for help but only her voice echoes back. She keeps walking on the shining floor. One day she meets one of her old dwarf friend. He tells her how the step-mom forced them to help her in her wicked plans. But they refused and ran away. On the way, they met an old wise dwarf who gave them a protection shield from magic. He said "as long as you hold on to this you will be safe from any kind of magic." But the step mom blew it into pieces and got them trapped in the mirror. Since then all the seven dwarfs were lost from each other inside the mirror, each with a piece of the protection shield.
They two walked together in search of others and came to a silver lake. A narrow golden bridge led them to the center of the lake where they found the second dwarf with another piece of the protection shield. When Snow white got the two pieces fixed together, there appeared a sparkling tunnel which led them to a place where they found the third dwarf. Now they understood that if they manage to find all the seven dwarfs and joined the pieces of the protection shield together, maybe they can find a way out. On joining the third piece, a ladder made with creepers appeared. They climbed it to reach the top and found the fourth dwarf with another piece there. On joining the fourth piece, They found themselves floating over clouds where they met the fifth dwarf with another piece. On joining the fifth piece, a huge swan appeared and flew them away on its back. The swan took them to a valley of flowers, There were soft rose petals underneath their feet. They found the sixth dwarf there and upon joining the piece with him, a mirror appeared in front of them and the seventh dwarf was sitting there with the final piece of the protection shield. They could see the full moon night outside. The step mom was busy with her black magic and waiting for the clock to strike 12.

The prince managed to reach step mom before midnight and tried to prevent her proceed with her black magic. As soon as Snow white joins the seventh piece, the mirror becomes transparent and they all come out of it. The reflection of Snow white jumps off the horse and hurriedly enters the mirror. The step mom would never let this happen, she manages to catch hold of her hand and tries to prevent it from escaping into mirror. The prince quickly breaks the mirror and step mom got trapped into it forever and Snow white thus gets reunited with her prince forever. The seven dwarfs dance with joy as Snow white and the prince stand holding hands in the moonlight.

                         The Honey Princess

Long long ago, a young prince named Shaurya, went hunting in a dense forest. Chasing a deer he went deeper and deeper and reached a dead end. There were giant honeycombs which hung from huge trees. This was the kingdom of giant honey bees. Thinking him to be an intruder, the bee soldiers handcuffed him and took him to the Queen.
After knowing the truth, the queen apologized and said, "O Prince please forgive us and be our guest for a few days." The prince accepted the invitation. He was surprised to see the luxury and vastness of the comb. It was there palace. He rested in an air-cooled chamber and was fed honey. In the evening when he was walking in the garden, he met honey princess. Her name was Madhu. She was sucking nectar from flowers. She was the prettiest girl he had ever seen. She too was very glad to meet him. She had often heard of stories about humans from her granny.
During his stay, they spent the time together and came closer. While taking leave, the prince asked the Queen bee for the princess in marriage. The Queen became furious. Shaurya was punished with a dangerous sting. It made him unconscious and erased the memories of his stay completely from his memory. The bee soldiers flew him upto his kingdom and left him near the palace gate in unconscious state. The prince forgot the princess and got engrossed in his life.
But princess Madhu could not forget him. She went to an old witch who agreed to turn her wings into legs but asked her first child in return. She gave her some magic potion and with a severe pain in her wings, Madhu's wings turned into legs. In the beginning she stumbled but then slowly began to walk. She began her journey barefoot and alone towards prince Shaurya's kingdom.
Prince Shaurya was on his way to the neighboring kingdom to see the bride for himself. He felt thirsty on the way and came to a pond. There he saw Madhu. Mesmerized by her beauty, he offered her to be his bride. Madhu was glad to see her dream being fulfilled so soon. The King and the Queen too accepted her and they were married in a grand ceremony.
Everything was fine till one day, the queen saw her sucking nectar from the flowers. Thinking her to be a witch, without even letting the prince know, she sent her to the forest. Madhu had full faith in prince and knew he would come to take her, but he never came.
Madhu began living a solitary life in the forest and gave birth to a baby. But no sooner had she given the birth, the old witch came and snatched the baby away. Poor Madhu went to Shaurya for help. On reaching the palace she came to know the truth that Shurya had left in search of her but was stung by poisonous bees. Since then he was lying unconscious and was slowly advancing towards death. Now Madhu knew that why he never reached her. She quickly sucked out the poison. Impossible became possible! not only did he woke up but he also regained all his memory of his stay with the bees and his love for the bee princess. He told the King and the Queen about Madhu's background. So, now they realized that poor Madhu was no witch but an innocent girl who had suffered a lot unnecessarily. Madhu told the prince about the witch and that she had taken away their son as per the promise. She led him to the place where the witch lived. The witch was very powerful and put a strong fight to the prince and his army. But at last when she was surrendered from all sides, she jumped in the fire along with the baby. But there came the bee soldiers for rescue and quickly took away the baby from her hands. It was the timely help of the Queen bee. The witch was charred to death and baby was safe in Queen bees arms. Madhu was overjoyed to get back her baby and her mother too. The prince, princess and their baby stayed for a few days in the bee Kingdom and then came back to their palace and lived happily ever after.

                          Human Hibernation (Part 2)

Years turned into decades and decades into centuries, but Earth's smoky trap seemed endless, never ending. There remained pitch dark all over earth with everyone in deep sleep since ages. While this highly advanced civilization was in hibernation, life on other planets was advancing. One such planet was Jupiter. Jupiterians were now the new masters of the solar system. They were giant size people. 10 feet tall with blue eyes and bluish tinge hair and skin. At last, one fine day the Dawn was bestowed on the earth's horizon! But the sun rays were not able to wake up humans from their hibernation. People continued into their hibernation as ice began to melt down.
Meanwhile in the planet Jupiter, there was a new discovery being made. Their telescopes revealed sudden presence of a blue planet in the solar system. So, the aliens from Jupiter made their discovery mission towards earth. By now, the ice has melted completely and the Jupiterians were surprised to see such advanced civilization. They tried to look for any intelligent species on the planet but could find none. When they first saw men lying still inside their houses, they thought them to be corpses. But on close monitoring, found them to be alive and understood the mystery to some extent. The human body although successfully survived the period of darkness but was now unable to come out of hibernation. The aliens took advantage of this. They very cleverly, did bring them out of hibernation, but only partially, not completely. The aliens inserted a microchip in them and controlled their minds through it. Within no time, the entire world was full of human slaves with a handful of aliens controlling them. These slaves were emotionless and worked like machines in fields, farms and factories. In return they were given two times meal.  The aliens very quickly grasped the immense wealth of knowledge on earth which was open to them. They mastered our computer technology and controlled us with that. The super computers were programmed to control man. An ultrasonic wave of a particular frequency was meant for each individual. Wherever the person may be, the ultrasonic waves traced him there.  Krish, a genius, too was working as a slave. Aliens were unaware that he was the person who had the solution to come out of hibernation. But pity, the solution was known only to him and did not seem to be working so far. The microchips inside them worked on solar energy. So, at sunset, they were programmed to return to their state of complete hibernation. Once the unusual happened, there was a total solar eclipse. It suddenly became dark in the middle of the day. All human slaves dropped down on the ground, except Krish. Krish experienced some intense shivering all over his body. As the sun was out of eclipse, so was Krish out of his hibernation. He saw all others lying still on the ground and could not understand anything at first sight but then his thoughts went thousand years back and he remembered everything. He recalled how he at last had found the solution to come out of hibernation.  He had inserted a microchip in his wrist. This chip gained energy from pulses and was programmed to give him minute shocks, after a thousand years to bring him out of hibernation. This was ineffective so far due to ultrasonic waves blocking it. During the short period of eclipse, when ultrasonic waves were ineffective, his shock system started working and he regained consciousness. Krish went to his Research Center and found it to be dominated by the aliens. Soon he understood the entire situation and started thinking of ways to save everyone from the aliens.  The aliens could not understand the problem with the slaves lying still. They were not prepared for this kind of situation. While they were still trying to solve it, Krish somehow managed to sneak into the control room and changed the software for controlling microchips. He changed the software to give them controlled minute shocks to bring them out of hibernation. Within no time earth was back under man's control. The aliens could not even realize as to what went wrong. They were captured along with their UFO. Everyone was happy to have survived through the thousand years of hibernation and thanked Krish for all that he did to save mankind.
After much discussion, the aliens were pardoned and sent back to Jupiter. They sent a message of friendship after a few days which was accepted by the earth.

Children's Stories
Science Fiction
                    Human Hibernation (Part 1)

This is a story of future. Many years ahead of present time. It was the beginning of 23rd century, science and technology has reached new heights. Scientists at the Space Centre found something very unusual in the space. Further investigations revealed the deadly fact. A huge comet was approaching earth. It was large enough to engulf our planet. Attempts were made to divert it's path from earth's orbit, but all in vain. Finally, the worst fears came true and yes it indeed was 'The End of the world!'.

Unbelievable and shocking! but it was happening for real! We had always been hearing different versions regarding the 'End of the World'. But this was something never predicted ever before. The only silver lining was that the comet would not collide with earth as it was a mass of gas but would keep the earth covered for years and years to come. If any life, by chance could survive the engulfing period, it could flourish well again after the comet has passed through earth. But the point was that how could life survive as our planet would remain devoid of sunlight throughout the engulfing period? The time was passing by fast and work on the solution to the problem was being carried out the world over.
In India, Krish, a young and talented scientist was also trying hard to save the life on earth. He was a spiritual person and had knowledge of various Vedas and Granthas. When his scientific knowledge could not give him any breakthrough he turned to religious side. And he found a clue. He found that the rishis, in ancient time, would survive for ages as they meditated. It was as if time stood still for them. He thought that by any means, if human body and mind could achieve a state similar to that of complete meditation, maybe we can survive the engulfing period. Thus he got the idea of 'Human Hibernation'. His solution got the attention of the world and fast track research began on it. All brilliant minds began to work together and method to go into hibernation was very soon found out. But how to come out of hibernation was still to be found out. People were becoming impatient as the deadline approached and finally a vaccination for human hibernation was officially announced. It was administered free of cost to everyone. It was left to nature to wake humans  out of hibernation, maybe with the next down on earth, years later.

As the comet started engulfing earth, slowly the sunlight began to get blocked from earth, part by part. And  people began to go into hibernation. Beginning with smaller areas and localities turning  into a human hibernation spots, then slowly, whole of towns and villages went into sleep. Eventually entire states and then nations turned pitch dark and lifeless. Roads were abandoned, malls and  all other places which were hustling-bustling with activities few days before, were all lifeless now. There was endless darkness everywhere. There was not a soul to be seen anywhere. Only one person, Krish was still wide awake and working. He knew  that he could not leave it to nature and he had to find a way out of this long sleep of humans. The whole of planet, by now was in deep sleep and finally he found the solution. He jumped with joy. But alas! there was no one to share his joy. His voice echoed back from all directions. He too took the vaccination and went into hibernation.

                            Fluffy's Trip to Sky

Fluffy was a young butterfly just transformed from caterpillar. Fluffy was very excited with her wings and the new colourful form. The flowers smiled at her and said, "Hello, young Fluffy how do you do?" Fluffy replied, "I'm fine. Nice to meet you all." She kept flying from one flower to another. Seeing this an old bug asked, "Where are you going?" Fluffy replied, "I want to fly high, very high." Pointing upward  she continued, "Up there. upto the sky."
The old bug laughed, "O ho! You are a crazy little one, Ha! Ha!" Fluffy tried hard and reached a tree top. There she met an eagle. The eagle asked, "Where are you upto dear? Fluffy replied, "I want to fly upto the sky." The wise eagle smiled lovingly and said, "My dear, your wings anr not strong enough to carry you there." Fluffy asked eagerly, "You seem to be strong enough. Have you been there? What does it look like there?" Wise eagle replied, "Yes, I often fly there. Everything from there seem very very small. And there are clouds." "Clouds? What are they?" asked Fluffy. "Yes, clouds, which cause rain." explained wise eagle.
After a short rest, Fluffy started off again. She tried to fly as high as she could. She looked down and everything was very small. She was thrilled. But actually she was over a barren land, where there was no vegetation or inhabitants. Suddenly it began to drizzle. Fluffy remembered wise eagle's words that in the sky there are clouds which cause rain. She cried happily, "Hurray! at last I have reached the sky.
She then happily returned home where she proudly narrated her courageous trip to young caterpillars. All of them were so impressed that they could only say, "We too will fly upto the sky when we grow up."

               Clever Boggy

Boggy is a little frog who loves to go to school.  Today is the first day of his new academic year. "Oh my! it's water everywhere. How will I go to school? My uniform will get wet!" cried little Boggy. It rained heavily last night," said papa frog. Then handing handing him a large leaf he said,"This will float you through the rain water and you won't get wet."
"Hurray!" cried Boggy and hopped on the leaf. The leaf became unstable for a while but then began to float swiftly. "Wait, take your umbrella," shouted mamma frog and came with a small mushroom. And off went Boggy.
On his way Boggy met a big snake. Before the snake could put out his tongue, Boggy planned his escape. Boggy said, "Wait....wait, uncle snake. If you leave leave me now, I promise to return with lots of friends from school." Snake said, "Umm, let me think! If you don't keep your word and return alone, I can have you at least. I think it's a safe bet. O.K, you can go now."

In the evening, the snake sat there patiently, waiting for lots of fat little frogs. But alas! he did not know that Boggy's friends were not frogs but eaglets. Before the snake could run for his life, all the eaglets pounced upon him and gobbled him up. Boggy thanked his friends and now he can go to school fearlessly.

                                           The Seven Sisters
Once upon a time, there were seven sisters who earned their livelihood by spinning yarn. They were very poor. One day they had nothing to eat except a handful of grains. They decided to go dropping the grains one by one. Where the last grain fell, they would start their lives afresh.
The last grain was dropped in the forest near a hut. There was a lady in the hut. She offered them goat's milk. The hungry sisters drank the milk and slept. The youngest one who disliked goat's milk, did not drink it. So she was lying awake due to hunger.

The old lady was actually a witch and the goat was her daughter who could take any form. At midnight all those who drank milk, turned into wax dolls and the witch bottled them up. Seeing this the youngest sister ran away. The witch's daughter saw her and began chasing her. When they came out of the forest, the witch transformed herself into a dog. Luckily, the King was out for a walk. When he saw a dog attacking a girl, he killed the dog.
The girl told the King all about her. The King was deeply moved  and also too impressed by her beauty. He married her.She was very happy with the King but always longed for her sisters.
Soon she gave birth to a son and named him Tomar. When Tomar grew little older, she told him about her sisters. Tomar decided to take revenge.
He went to the forest and found the hut. The old witch was there, unaware of her daughter's death, waiting for her return. He went to the witch and said, "Granny, I'm your grandson." The witch replied, "but my daughter is missing for years." Tomar told her a cooked up story and convinced her. The witch taught him all the magic and said, "You must go to your uncle 'Trikaal', up there in the moon to learn the deadliest magic. Pointing towards a hand-grinder, she said, "If you move it towards right, it will raise you up and up, up to the moon." Tomar did so and went to meet Trikaal. Thinking him to be his nephew, Trikaal taught him everything. In the end, he offered Tomar a potion made from snake blood. When Tomar refused to drink it, Trikaal understood that he has been fooled. He attacked Tomar. But Tomar was equally powerful now. So after a fierce battle, Tomar threw him away.

After floating smoothly over some distance on the moon's surface, he saw a woman spinning the yarn. On speaking to her, he came to know that she was one of his lost aunts. She said, "After we were bottled as wax dolls, Trikaal brought us to the moon. But we slipped from his hand. As I fell on the ground, the bottle broke and I was released from the magic spell. Since then I have been spinning the yarn. I know my sisters must be doing the same. So I want to make a long thread which will reach my sisters somewhere here on the moon." Tomar with his magical powers connected the ends of all the six threads and united all the sisters. He made a ladder from moon upto earth. They began climbing down one by one. Trikaal too started climbing down behind them. On reaching the ground, Tomar asked his mother to get an axe quickly and he axed the ladder. Trikaal who got stuck midway is still hanging there. It is said that since then, his loud cries are heard as thunder.

Children's stories
Science Fiction 1
                                 Aliens
This story originates billions of years ago, much before the evolution of life on Earth during the 'Big- Bang'.  What geologists could ever find out was that, our Earth was the only planet to support life. A fact that remained unknown was that like Earth, some other planets too developed some kind of life.  But unfortunately, they could not support life for long as conditions there changed abruptly and life forms were completely destroyed.  When Earth was under transformation, planet Mars was experiencing violent explosions within itself.  These explosions were so powerful that they caused the rocks and other materials from Mars's crust to fall on the Earth, as meteors.  These meteors landed in the polar region.  Though meteors falling on Earth is a common phenomenon even today, but these meteors from Mars were different because they had the initial budding life particles in it.  So, though the life on Mars was destroyed in the initial stages, some of it was still safe and frozen in the snow in the polar region on Earth.
Unaware of this, humans advanced day by day. The 21st century man is highly sophisticated and modern.  But the modernization came with some compromise on nature.  The growing industries and cutting down of trees with the increasing population resulted in global warming. And slowly as the ice began to melt in the polar region, the life frozen there for ages began to warm up. When man was making attempts to find life on other planets, some creatures were evolving in the remote polar regions of Earth.  Soon they got completely evolved into creatures never known to human - 'the Aliens'.

The aliens looked almost like humans, but they had a very powerful brain with 90% more grey matter than us. They had a strange power to read human mind through the eyes. They could be distinguished from humans only by their white blood and that they reproduced by eggs. Their eggs needed freezing temperatures and hence remained buried in snow for almost a year. In summer, if the snow melted from over the eggs, their young ones would hatch out, otherwise they would remain there for years, unaffected. The polar region became a breeding place  for aliens.  They were unknown to the world so far.

It so happened that a batch of scientists once went there for geological studies and accidently discovered them.  They thought them to be tribal Eskimos. The aliens read their mind and grasped all the knowledge in a flash. It made headlines worldwide that a tribe of intelligent Eskimos was discovered. They were brought to the mainland. They could speak any language and were tech-savvy. They seemed very innocent but actually had cunning intentions. They had dangerous plan to take over the planet Earth from humans. They quickly got appointed in high positions at all the important places the world over. Now, their only aim was to get involved with the topmost organisation which had all the information about the nuclear strength of Earth. The alien Chief Mr Spook, was the one who took all important decisions for them. His orders were obeyed unquestionably. He got himself absorbed as the Head in the Defence Organisation.

Mr Spook had his aliens placed in the Atomic and Research Centre too. But they were not able to gain much information yet because Mr Williams, the head of the organisation was too difficult to crack. It was very difficult to win his trust.  moreover he already had a suspicious eye on these newly recruited eskimos. He, along with his team of officers had begun a secret mission to dig the background of the eskimos. They succeeded in getting their DNA sample and other crucial details.

Mr Williams, in his office, was too engrossed into analyzing all the data he had from their secret mission. Meanwhile, Mr Spook, who was frustrated as not getting any substantial progress from his aliens in the Atomic Centre, decides to meet Mr Williams himself. He is on his way to his office. Mr Williams, on his computer, step by step becomes aware of the truth of the eskimos. He is shocked to know of their white blood and the genetic coding so different from any species on earth. He now knows who they possibly are and what are their intentions. Just as he was to make a call to his team members regarding their findings, Mr Spook enters the room. In no time, he finds out that Mr Williams has found out everything about them. He presses his palm against Mr Williams chest and he immediately drops down dead. The reason of his death is known to be cardiac arrest.

Mr Spook, is still worried. He knows that Mr Williams had all the information stored in his computer and secured it with a password known only to him. Till now nobody was able to crack the code. He decides to send one his brilliant alien and get the information deleted before anyone else cracks the code. He appoints Jack, a young alien for this job. He says to Jack, "Jack, you have to read their minds and grasp all the knowledge. But be careful of a virus found inbuilt in the humans. The virus of emotions. It will make you laugh, cry, love and hate and your productivity will be affected. So, beware." Jack was easily appointed at a significant post in the Atomic Centre. He soon impressed everyone and gained their confidence. He became among those few who had the right to access Late Mr Williams' computer. There he meets Gracy, Mr Williams daughter. He looks into her eyes and forgets to takes any precautions and he gets infected with emotions. He starts liking her, very unusual of his race. Gracy too is very impressed by him. They began to spend more and more time together. He successfully completes his task of hacking the computer but something in him prevents him from telling it to his Chief. Mr Spook, after not getting any news from Jack decides to visit him. When he enters his room, he could not believe his eyes, Jack was painting! Mr Spook understands that he has been infected. He tries to read his mind to find the password. But Jack prevents him from reading his mind. He keeps thinking 'a brick wall' in his mind. Mr Spook could not get the password. He tears down the painting into pieces and sends him for treatment. At the treatment centre, instead of curing him of the virus, everyone there gets infected. The virus begins to spread very fast. When Mr Spook comes to know of this, he orders all the aliens to wear dark glasses and shoot-at-sight orders for the infected aliens.

Jack wants to meet Gracy and confess everything. But before he could reach her, he is shot down. Mr Spook cleverly proves him to be a traitor, the one whom Mr Williams was investigating about. Everybody, except Gracy is relieved that the traitor has been killed. Gracy still cannot believe all this. He was too good and trustworthy to be a traitor. She tries to stick together all the pieces of the torn painting that she had collected from his office. It was her painting. And oh what a beautiful one! But what surprised her was the message written behind it. It read 'Aliens'. She thinks hard what it must be indicating. One possibility was that it could be the password. So, she feeds the word 'Aliens' as password to the computer, it works. Now, everything is clear to in front of her eyes. She immediately calls for her father's trusted officers and the necessary action is taken. Aliens are attacked and killed. Their eggs are unearthed and blown up. Thus, earth is saved from a grave danger. There is a huge sigh of relief. And yes, Jack is the only alien who holds a special place in everybody's heart and is awarded with the highest bravery award . Gracy is glad that at last Jack got the honour he deserved.

                             Droppy's Day Out
Droppy was a cute little baby cloud. Droppy always asked his mother "Mamma, when will I go out and shower rain like others?  Mamma would reply lovingly, "wait till you are big and strong."

Soon it was monsoon and all the big clouds were showering rains on earth. some would downpour heavily while others would cause thunder along with rain. little Droppy was very excited. He looked down and said, "see how the kids are enjoying the rain! I wish I could make them happy too."
After a while when all the clouds were quite, Droppy moved out in the sky. on his way he met Mr Wind. Wind said, "Come little cloud, I'll help you float around." "Ooopss" cried Droppy as wind flew swiftly  holding his hand. Droppy was spread across the sky into a thin layer.

Sun greeted Droppy with a shiny smile which made Droppy's droplets sparkle brilliantly. Droppy looked down as the kids were pointing at him and shouting, look there, a beautiful rainbow in the sky!"

Droppy looked at himself, indeed he was shining with different colours all over.

Children's Stories
Fairy Tales 1
                  Tale of Fairyland
Long long ago, in the foothills of Himalayas, there was a kingdom called Sonapur.  There lived a brave young man named Shankar.  One day when Shankar was cutting wood in the forest, he saw a golden rabbit.  Chasing the rabbit he went deep inside the woods.  The rabbit suddenly vanished and the place became aromatic which made him unconscious.  As he was lying there, two fairies in pink and blue quietly came down and took him along with them.
When Shankar opened his eyes, he found himself in a luxurious golden palace.  There was no firm ground but only clouds beneath his feet.  His mystery was solved soon when a voice called him, "Welcome to Fairyland.  I'm the King of this place."  Shankar could not believe his ears.  He asked, "Fairyland? But how did I land here?"  The King replied,"You have been brought here by our fairies."  Shankar now understood the entire plot and said,"You mean all those who disappear from forest, actually land here? But why?"  The King replied,"For sacrifice!"  And he continued,"A demon named Kalka has forcefully entered our land.  He is performing a yagna to become immortal, for which he needs one human sacrifice every full moon night.  We are helpless.  If we don't provide him with men, he will destroy our kingdom.  Please forgive us."  The pink and blue fairies, then holding his hands, flew him upto Kalka's fort.

The door was kept ajar. Shankar went inside and saw a frail girl cooking in a corner. He went near her and immediately recognized her.  She was the princess of Sonapur who went missing mysteriously a year ago.  she told him how Kalka sacrificed everyone in front of her eyes and drank their blood.  She was spared because he wanted only male sacrifices.  She was kept as a slave there.

Just then the demon called out,"Has he arrived? Bring him here."  The princess looked at Shankar helplessly and led him to the demon's chamber where he was chanting mantras and a big pot was kept on fire for boiling water.  Huge Kalka lifted Shankar by neck and threw him into the pot.  As the water began to boil Shankar struggled inside it and the pot was turned upside down. Shankar fell off the pot and pretended to be dead.  As Kalka bent over him, he attacked him with a burning piece of wood, leaving his eye bleeding.  Kalka cried for water.  The princess cleverly handed him the fuel can instead of water jar.  Kalka quickly splashed it over his face.  And before he could realize anything, Shankar threw a burning piece of wood on him and he was charred to death. The King of Fairyland was very happy.  He thanked Shankar and rewarded him with precious gifts.

That day, people of Sonapur saw a shining object coming from the sky.  It was a flying couch carrying the princess and Shankar escorted by the pink and blue fairies.  The King was overjoyed to see his daughter back.  He gave her in marriage to Shankar.

And this wedding was a very special one because it had guests from Fairyland.  It is believed that even today, the pink and blue fairies are sometimes spotted in those hills.
