8. Medal of Honor Recipient Salvatore Giunta

Kathleen and I had the honor of attending a lecture at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, CA.  Medal of Honor recipient Salvatore Giunta spoke about his service and the events leading up to him receiving the Medal of Honor in October of 2010.  His speech was part of The Medal of Honor Character Development Program-Lessons of Personal Bravery and Self-Sacrifice.  The program was developed with middle and high school kids in mind.  This is a great program for all schools to implement.  For further information go to [email protected]. (Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation)  We will post a photo soon.

16. Military Writers Society Awards

The Military Writers Soceity of America Conference took place the first weekend of October inPittsburgh.  “Eddie and Bingo: A Friendship Tale” was nominated in two categories.

We were awarded two Honorable Mention Awards (one for each category that we were nominated in) from the Military Writers Society of America!  Kathleen received two medals and award stickers for our books.  She met some outstanding authors and exciting people.  Be sure to check out the excellent information on the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) website.  They have their own on-line bookstore and they highlight new authors each month.

We had a great time at the Adolfo Camarillo Birthday Party at the Camarillo Ranch House on Oct. 23rd.  We made lots of craft items (a doghouse for Bingo) and enjoyed a spot next to the Camarillo Library staff.

Starting November 1st  we are going to be featured on the debutauthors.com website.   Please drop by and correspond with us!  We would love to hear from

17. Eddie and Bingo Blog

Received a very warm reception from the teachers, librarian and students of Cypress Elementary School for our reading.  The children were engaged and asked very thoughtful and insightful questions.  We really enjoyed our visit!  A copy of “Eddie and Bingo” is now in circulation at the Cypress School Library.

Visited the Ventura County Maritime Museum in Oxnard today.  They will be carrying “Eddie and Bingo” in their museum store.  The Museum is expanding in the Fall of 2011 to a larger facility in the Channel Islands Harbor area.  This museum is a treat to visit and very kid-friendly!

We were invited to attend the annual Book Fair at Cypress School on May 19th.  This was our first official book signing event.  We enjoyed meeting the parents and children at Cypress.

On Armed Forces Day (5/21) we held a very special book signing and reading at Mrs. Figs’ Bookworm in Camarillo.  The owner, Connie, was a pleasure to work with.  The store looked amazing for our event.  The Bookworm continues to carry our book.  Kathleen and I suggest that you visit this very family-friendly bookstore with a great selection of books!  They also gift wrap purchases for free.

Memorial Day weekend (5/28) found us at the Army/Navy Surplus Store in Simi Valley.  Dan (the owner) and his wife were very welcoming to us and the customers in Simi Valley were so friendly. They even shared some personal military stories with us.  Dan will continue to sell our book at his store.  The store has a great selection of all things military!

In the months of June and July we will be at the Brighton Collectibles Store at The Lakes in Thousand Oaks, Ca.  Check out our news and events pages for more details.  Be sure to ask us about our charm bracelets.  We are big fans of Brighton jewelry!
