We proudly support Pauls from “Right Road Kids” as we donated a copy of “Eddie and Bingo” (and a Bingo mascot) for her “Simple Acts of Kindness” program which gives teachers free books and supplies for their classroom use. All the teacher has to do is comment on the “Right Roads Kids” Facebook page.

Kathleen and I had the honor of attending a lecture at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, CA. Medal of Honor recipient Salvatore Giunta spoke about his service and the events leading up to him receiving the Medal of Honor in October of 2010. His speech was part of The Medal of Honor Character Development Program-Lessons of Personal Bravery and Self-Sacrifice. The program was developed with middle and high school kids in mind. This is a great program for all schools to implement. For further information go to [email protected]. (Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation) We will post a photo soon.

This took place on Saturday, July 28th and included animals from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue, Guide Dogs of America, the PAWS for Reading teams. Joining us at storytime were local authors, Lisa Mink and Chuck Engel. A great time was had by all. Thanks to the Girl Scouts who helped out at the event. Received a very warm reception from the teachers, librarian and students of Cypress Elementary School for our reading. The children were engaged and asked very thoughtful and insightful questions. We really enjoyed our visit! A copy of “Eddie and Bingo” is now in circulation at the Cypress School Library.
Visited the Ventura County Maritime Museum in Oxnard today. They will be carrying “Eddie and Bingo” in their museum store. The Museum is expanding in the Fall of 2011 to a larger facility in the Channel Islands Harbor area. This museum is a treat to visit and very kid-friendly!

On Armed Forces Day (5/21) we held a very special book signing and reading at Mrs. Figs’ Bookworm in Camarillo. The owner, Connie, was a pleasure to work with. The store looked amazing for our event. The Bookworm continues to carry our book. Kathleen and I suggest that you visit this very family-friendly bookstore with a great selection of books! They also gift wrap purchases for free.
Memorial Day weekend (5/28) found us at the Army/Navy Surplus Store in Simi Valley. Dan (the owner) and his wife were very welcoming to us and the customers in Simi Valley were so friendly. They even shared some personal military stories with us. Dan will continue to sell our book at his store. The store has a great selection of all things military!
