1. Happy Time

In this fast paced world that there is so much for us to do; it is little wonder that people don’t give themselves enough time to get from here to there.  If time could be bought I reckon that it would top the share market. There just never seems to be enough of it. Why is that?
‘Time is free, but it is priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.’ Harvey Mac Kay

Why is there not enough time?
I have pondered on this and I have come to the conclusion that many of us take on to much leaving us with not enough hours in the day. When we are doing something that we enjoy time flies by, so we feel that there is not enough of it. Alternatively if we are experiencing something that doesn’t make us feel fulfilled we may think that time is going slower; when of course it is not but we may become more conscious of it so it is like waiting for a kettle to boil.
What can we do about it?
Slow down, do less, manage our time more efficiently. It’s all about balance. If you are rushing around the universe will intervene to slow you down so you may as well go with the flow. Time is a priceless commodity and you are the banker. You are the one who decides how you spend your time.
An unhurried sense of time is in itself a form of wealth” Bonnie Freidman

“Time is a great Healer”
Over time physical wounds can heal and given time emotional wounds can become easier to bear. However, it saddens me to think that people wish their lives away during these times in hope of better times but I understand why and I have done it on a few occasions myself. “Taking one day at a Time” is most commonly the coping mechanism that acts as a crutch during such times, until we feel that we can walk the road of life again unaided. Take the time to Heal.
Timeout
We can all benefit immensely from taking timeout from time to time. This allows us to put our lives in perspective and recharge our core. If we don’t we stop and do a ‘stock-take’ of all of the information that we have processed over a period of time, we run the risk of malfunctioning , which will led to a burn-out. Many people go on holidays to take a break from their hectic lives. That is wonderful if you are able to do that but by committing to taking a timeout every day, week or even month you are giving yourself time to evaluate and offload. I think of it as breathing, if we keep inhaling, inhaling, inhaling, without taking timeout to exhale we will eventually pass out. It just doesn’t work – we were not built that way.
“Time goes by so fast, people go in and out of your life. You must never miss the opportunity to tell these people how much they mean to you”
Whatever way you choose to spend your time, embrace it. There is no point filling your life with regrets of time wasted or misused. I believe that by confidently trusting my decisions I am standing loyally by my own choices no matter what the outcome of those choices may be.
“Regret for wasted time is more wasted time” Mason Cooley

One thought before I finish : What makes us happy is individual to each of us. We all have different things that make us tick and it is important to do things for ourselves that make us feel happy.
Do you give yourself Happy Time? How?

5. Happy Low

We must endure some lows in life to give the highs greater meaning”
I have come to a realisation that when I feel a little low, I am nicer to myself. I treat myself to things that will cheer me up and I do more things that I want to do in a bid to make myself feel better. This all adds up to a ‘Happy Low’ I reckon as I am being nurtured and rehabilitated back to a happier emotional balance – a gift from myself and possibly others.
I have also come to realise that when a low point enters my life it has been at a time when a change is imminent or needs to be addressed. By choosing to allow these changes to happen I am allowing my path to run the way it naturally should, if I am resilient and push against the changes that are meant for me I always find that I steer onto a rocky road which will eventually lead me back onto my destined road eventually, I have just taken an un necessary detour.  I believe that we all have a path mapped out for us and if we go with the flow of the universe by being aware of indicators in our lives that we will stay on the right path for us.
Sometimes we may feel as if we are burnt out, that your body can’t keep up with the pace that we have been accustomed to.  This is a sign that we need to make a change.   A message has been sent to let us know that our body needs to be recharged.  If we don’t listen we may discover that we will face ill health. If we still keep pushing we may discover that things don’t fulfil us as they should or that something doesn’t feel right about where our lives are at. What do many people do when this happens?? They push some more, which is what you shouldn’t do as you are defeating the purpose.
I suggest that if this happens to you, then you are probably feeling low, so I would 0 Comments on Happy Low as of 1/1/1990

I suggest that if this happens to you, then you are probably feeling low, so I would advise that you STOP! Allow yourself to go within. Find guidance by being still or quiet, by just listening to yourself. You could do this through meditation/prayer or whatever way makes you feel comfortable.

One thing that you can do to shield yourself from the real damaging effects of the storm that may pass through your life is by protecting your emotional wellbeing in any way that you can. This will keep you strong and by being aware that there is a reason for you experiencing a low and that it can be used as a vehicle for positive change to enter your life. I cannot think of these ‘low’ points in my life than anything other than a ‘Happy Low’.
By being knowledgeable of this I know that I will always have faith in and honour the lows in my life as well as the highs. I hope that by reading this you may find an answer to that all time question “Why do I feel so low?” There is a reason for it now let it be a ‘Happy Low’ for you too.

7. Happy Days

"What is the meaning of life? To be happy and useful."- Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama
What has happened to the happy days? Why are so many living for their future happiness and not in the NOW?
As we all storm through life at full speed we are not taking time to be happy in the now. How can we be when we are not taking ‘timeout’ to embrace life as it is NOW.
I too used to rally through life juggling a career and being a mum, always a hundred and one things that I had to do and not enough time to do them. But then I  STOPPED!.........I realised that there was one thing wrong with my last sentence....’had’, I never ‘had’ to do anything, it was me who chose to do it all. It was me who chose to live my life at full speed so then I decided that it would be me who was going to be the one who pulled the brakes and slowed things down. I have since had more children and I am so happy being a mum to my four children and writing, I have stopped chasing happiness and started living it!!

But primarily experiencing happy days are personal and happen because of a number of choices that we have instilled in our lives, ensuring that we do have more happy than sad days.
Simple Things
By lowering our expectations and appreciating things that we have the opportunity to do more often in the now, rather than things we may have in the future, we can only become more happier. For me being grateful for the simple things in life make me happy.  Having a cuppa and a laugh with friends can be a  wonderful way to be happy. Appreciating the joy that my family is also makes me happy. What simple things that you have NOW make you happy?
I connected with the quote below as my true happiness came from feeling deep love and the ability to share it:
“As I go through all kinds of feelings and experiences in my journey through life -- delight, surprise, chagrin, dismay -- I hold this question as a guiding light: "What do I really need right now to be happy?" What I come to over and over again is that only qualities as vast and deep as love, connection and kindness will really make me happy in any sort of enduring way.”- Sharon Salzberg
There are many people in the world who hold others responsible for their happiness. Being married, a son/daughter, a great friend, a child - or whoever we push our desire to be happy on, we must acknowledge that we are the only person who can make ourselves happy!!!!
"No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change."- Barbara de Angelis
All in all our days can be as happy as we choose them to be. We all will experience challenges that set us back at times, but if we are being set back from a place of happiness within then we wont fall so far and it will be easier to return to that wonderful tranquility again.
The best gift that you can give to yourself is the gift of happiness. Smile and let your inner happiness spread to others. Why noy start today?

9. Happy Parenting

A happy family is but an earlier heaven.” George Bernard Shaw
Parenting comes with many challenges. As parents we are all different and our children are also individuals so I reckon that this combination ensures that no two families are the same. However, I do feel that we all have the potential to parent happily should we want to. By being happy within we will be able to use that when interacting with our children.

If it doesn't come naturally for you but you have the desire to be a happy parent, don't fret!! You can train your thoughts and with some effort in the beginning it will become a natural thing for you and the rewards for yourself and your children will be worth it.

As a mum of four children, 2 boys and 2 girls, I feel that it is very important to be happy whilst carrying out the sometimes challenging task that is parenting. I will be the first to admit that my angels are not on their best behaviour ALL of the time. Especially when they are testing boundaries!! But how I approach parenting my children at these times can mean all the difference between a happy life or a not so happy life.

What I have discovered is that my children respond to how I interact with them. They are all totally different in character but they all respond more positively to me being happy.

Tips to Happy Parenting:

  • Focus on the positives that your child does. Be sure to encourage good behaviour by commenting !! A good practice to get used to is to say 6 positives for every negative.

  • Simplify things. "It's the simple things that we thing of in the future and what our children remember the most"

  • Try to not let your child feel the ripples if you are having a 'bad day'. We are all human and have these times when we are not our jolly selves, but it is worth remembering that your child isn't responsible for your emotions and they may pick up on your feelings so their behaviour may reflect that. Try to adjust your thoughts. 'Think Happy Thoughts'.

  • Think before you Respond. 3 step process. Stop,Think and then be a parent.

  • Work with your child to find a compromising solution. This will also enhance your child's life skills in in the area of problem solving.Work together to build a positive relationship.

  • Try to discipline respectfully. Would you rather your child fear or resent you? Treat your child with respect and it will be returned. Remember they are always learning.

  • Always keep your child informed of plans in advance so that they are in the know. There wont be so much resistance then. example : It will be time to finish p

  • Keep yourself knowledgeable about the developmental stage that your child is experiencing.

  • Most importantly, enjoy the time with your children, it is precious and cannot be retrieved. There is nothing wrong with bonding at their level, you may find that you will enjoy it, I know I do.

  • Also it is important to remember that our children are people with feelings and problems and they are learning about themselves all of the time.

  • Maintaining a positive mindset is easier than it seems and is simplified the more you do it. We all have the power to control our thoughts and if we make ourselves believe that we are not happy well then how can we be happy?
"To be happy you have got to think happy"

I found a wonderful three step guide to Happy Parenting written by Micheal Grose (a parenting educator) that I would like to share with you.:

    Micheal Grose
Here are three ways to thrive and get some enjoyment and happiness from your parenting:

    1. Build regular down-time into your life. Time away from kids helps you enjoy being with your kids.

    2. Spend more time with kids and less time on peripheral activities: Okay, so the house may end up messier than you'd like, and the garden unkempt but you may just end up with a smile of your face.

    3. Do something that ignites your passions and sparks your interests: If you have something in your life that gives you a buzz and something to look forward to, it's amazing how you can put up with more mundane
stuff of your life, including some of the parenting moments that drive you batty!

Me thinks one of the secrets of raising happy kids is to make sure we as parents are happy......... and less busy!

I agree wholeheartedly with Micheal. We need to remember ourselves and that we are more than just parents!.Recharging our batteries and doing enjoyable tasks for ourselves is important as it keeps life meaningful and parents happy which can only be a good thing for our children.

"Never fear spoiling children by making them too happy. Happiness is the atmosphere in which all good affections grow".- Thomas Bray

    11. Happy News!

Why is it that we as humans feel the need to hear and read news about disasters, misfortunes and sadness? This news will more than likely make us feel bad and if you are in any way in tune with how the Universe works you will know that if you feel bad emotions then you submit a fequency of bad energy which with attract more bad energy your way.

" Thought = creation. If these thoughts are attached to powerful emotions(good or bad) that spreads creation." Rhonda Byrne
Dont get me wrong, I do think that it is a good thing to know about what is going on in our world today but I reckon at the end of every news bulletin it should state some good news from the same origins as the bad. Or a maybe even a few moments taken to project some positive energy towards the negative.

Think about it for a moment...Do you think that there is a possibility that by always reporting the devastation around the world and projecting it into nearly every modern household through tv's, newspapers or the internet, that this is partly the cause of so much devastation in the world today?

I found a wonderful site that reports only the 'Good News' from around the globe http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/. It was quite refreshing to visit and discover some positives that are happening in our world today.

"Every thought has a frequency. Thoughts send out magnetic energy" Rhonda Byrne

I believe that we all have immense power as individuals and together we can create miracles.
It's like everything else in our lives we seem to focus too much on the bad things and not enough on the good. If most of us took the time to grateful for the good things in our lives, we will attract more good to us.

Let's think of the news as we would our family. Embrace the good news and enjoy the energy that it creates and when there is bad news try our best to make it better.

Think happy thoughts and it will spread all around the world. From now on I will ensure that I get a dose of Happy News each day!
Together we can make a difference.

    13. A Thought Pattern Work-Out.

"By changing the way you think, You can change the way you live!"

Many people will say "Easier said than done" but it is true, by applying some effort into altering the way you perceive something negative in your life being you can change it into a positive.

How do I know? Well because I did it. A year ago I wasn't that happy within and I didn't know why, I just didn't feel fulfilled. I was pregnant with baby number four and just going through the motions. I started to interact with positive people online at adoptamum.com and it is as if I have given my life a whole make-over and all I did was change my thoughts from negative to being more positive. I now live a happy and fulfilled life and it has had a knock on affect throughout all of my relationships with husband, children, friends and family. So simple to do and with such high rewards.

    How to do it!
    • Take a moment and think of something that is negative in your life.
    • Can you or do you want to change this from a negative to a positive?
    • If yes, get a page, draw a circle in the middle of it and write in it what your negative is.
    • Look at it for a few moments and think about how you can think more positively towards your issue.
    • Write down around it any positives that you can think of, no matter how small.
    • Allow yourself to feel grateful for these positives.
    • For the next week promise yourself to think only the positives on your page, keep the page close by and look at it when you can.
    • By projecting positives towards your negative you should feel the benefits within yourself and may even get a more positive response from your negative, it may no longer feel like a negative.
By doing this exercise I found that I tricked my mind into feeling happy when I hadn't felt happy before. You can apply it to as many negatives in your life as you feel need addressing, in order help you lead a more happy and fulfilling life.

" If you don't like something, change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it". Mary Engelbreit

I like this quote as it reflects that even if you don't have the opportunity to change an external problem, you do have the power to change the way you internally deal with it.

    Surround yourself with happy people
If you interact with happy people it will have a positive affect on you. Happiness is contagious and you will absorb happy energies from others when you interact with them. You can do this by joining a feel good group online or in your community, or simply meet up with friends that make you smile.

A song that my daughter sings regularly as she merrily skips through life always comes to me when I am feeling down : "Think happy thoughts, happy thoughts and they will come back to you. Think happy thoughts, Happy thoughts and the whole world will seem brand new."

Happier more positive days await should you want them. It is worth remembering that time is precious and cannot be retrieved back, so it is viatally important for us to be happy in the NOW.
