On Saturday, June 18, 2011, I had a Book Signing and Story Time at Borders. It was successful in many ways. One would place success on the sales, but for me the success is when a spanish little girl asked her mom if they could buy a book. Her mother replied, "no we cannot afford it". My husband at that moment over heard their conversation and whispered to me what was said. I am grateful that he speaks Spanish fluently. Luckily, the mother spoke a little English and I was able to tell her, that I would give her daughter a book if they would promise to ask her teacher and school if I could come and do a site visit. to share the book with others.
To see the little girls expression of joy, was priceless. Because of this meaningful experience, I am having my second children's book be produced in English and Spanish. My success is to be able to encourage and inspire reading for as many children that cross into my path in life.
"An Adventure with Joshua and Hoppy Frog" was truly an adventure that the adults and children enjoyed during Story Time, and was loved as well.
