Take 175 years of a small village, throw in some anecdotes, pictures, maps, aerials, and newspaper articles, and you will see what compiler and editor Marion L. Cornett comes up for two local history books. The Fowlerville Chronicles has actually sold out–more may be printed so be sure to check back. Through the Eyes of a Country Editor helps to tell the history of Fowlerville from 1874-1929, through the wit and wisdom of G.L. Adams, editor and publisher of The Fowlerville Review.
My passion is history during the early 1900s and doing research to gain more insight and knowledge prompted me to compile these two self-published books. And now, I’m onto more writing, with the recently-released Juniper and Anise, a fictional story based on events that took place during the United States’ Prohibition Era. I’m working on a companion novel set during the same time period.
When I’m not writing, my day job is commercial embroidery, which I’ve done for nearly 20 years. Love to read, write, exercise, socialize, and be a part of the internet social media.
Born to be creative, loves to write–that’s my motto.
Author Publicity as an author is an important factor in getting the word out about your books. Your job as an author doesn’t stop once you finish your book. You must continuously work at marketing yourself as an author and marketing your books, that is if you want people to know who you are, and what books you have authored. I not only write, but I also illustrate all of my own books. I became friends with another author, Dennis Higgins. He asked me if I would be interested in doing a few illustrations for his book Steampunk Alice, I took him up on the challenge creating a few illustrations for the interior book. I also created the cover and asked him what he thought, he liked my cover creation and Steampunk Alice was released in 2014 and the cover was submitted to AUTHORSdb 2014 Cover Contest that same year. And proudly I say, it brought home the Gold.

On the recipe section of my blog, The Recipe Weekly, recipes are posted that I have developed, recipes from friends, family, followers and fans, as well as from various genre authors. It is true… authors cook! Speaking of authors cooking…
I caught up with Author Dennis Higgins the other day and I asked him what sort of goodies he fixes at Christmas. Before I talk about a recipe he shared, I want to tell you about his newest book release, Pennies Across The Veil. Pennies From Across the Veil is a love story… about death. Karl Himmel tells the story to an unknown presence, of how he met, fell in love, and married the woman of his dreams, Jenny Engels. But at the time of the telling, Karl and Jenny find themselves on different sides of the veil—the separation we call death.
But not even death can stop true love.
Powerful signs come to those from loved ones who have passed. They can be found any and everywhere, we just need to look for them. The most significant for Karl and Jenny was the finding of numerous wheat-back pennies. However, could there have been many others, and did these signs have a deeper meaning?
Sounds like a great book, can’t wait to read my copy!
Dennis gave me an easy but delicious recipe that I could share: Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites. Please also read the history behind the pretzel that he shared with me.
Did you know the pretzel has a Christian beginning? In the olden days in Germany, the season of Lent was stricter than it is today and the faithful had to give up all forms of oils, eggs and a host of other things. The pretzel was invented to make a treat that didn’t use any of these ingredients. The way they folded it in the traditional pretzel form was supposed to represent arms folded in prayer.
Ingredients:
Pretzel chips or Wheat Thins
Chunky peanut butter
Chocolate bark, melted
Directions:
Take two pretzel chips or Wheat Thins, spread chunky peanut butter between them–dip in melted chocolate. Dennis says you can fancy it up with sprinkles too. Voila! These pretzels are a delicious treat everyone will love!
Dennis noted that if Wheat Thins are used, they must be the reduced fat version. They are crispier.
Hi Everyone, A few weeks ago I shared a cover reveal for PENNIES FROM ACROSS THE VEIL by Dennis Higgins, and of course, the cover is absolutely beautiful as you can see here on this post. I pre-ordered the eBook, and you can share your love and order his eBook too– and this is also available in paperback. I am truly looking forward to reading it!
Dennis Higgins is a native of Chicago, Illinois, a relative of Davy Crockett, a husband to his lovely wife, and a pet owner to his dog and a couple of birds.
He has always possessed a romance of things of the past that are gone but not forgotten. The Time Pilgrims series he authored is exciting, treasured, and loved by YA, NA as well as adults.
Lastly, I can’t help but mentioning the cover of Dennis Higgins book, Steampunk Alice, released last year, was illustrated by me. The very year it was released the cover took home the Gold in AUTHORSdb 2014 Cover Contest. It is a great read! Buy here. Don’t forget to check out my handy work on the cover.
Hi Everyone, If you have been following my posts on Facebook & Twitter, you know I teased my way to the final cover reveal in 4 parts. I hope you had fun as I played this little cover game. If you have not seen the cover, I am posting here in the blog.
This has been one of my favorite writing projects so far. I love the story and I worked on creating the illustrations for three years, on and off that is. You see, I am a multi-tasker– so in between that time, I also created Wild Animal Sounds, and I worked on the cover illustration for Steampunk Alice by Dennis Higgins. Dennis is a talented author friend of mine, and he suggested that I create a coloring book to go along with the storybook. I didn’t think I could pull it off in time to have a release of the storybook and coloring book at the same time.
I worked hard and guess what? I did it! Yay! Thank you, Dennis!
Today I am also doing a cover reveal of the Timothy the Christmas Mouse Coloring Book. I am excited at how this book turned out. Yes, that is a toilet paper roll…don’t laugh, okay go ahead, it was meant to make you. It would be a nice warm place for a mouse, don’t you think?
Greetings! I have decided to release the cover of “Timothy the Christmas Mouse” in 4 parts. Okay, I know I am teasing all my viewers…but it is just a fun way for me to do it. I hope you all tune in for each post until the final cover release in 4 days. :-) Thanks for playing along! Book release coming soon…
Hi Tracy, Thanks for stopping by! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my agent finds a home for my work. (But I have to uncross them when I write.) ;-)
I love the cover and the book sounds perfect for young kids. It was fun to learn where the idea for the book came from. I never would have guessed it came from a birthday party invitation. That is awesome! Just goes to show ideas are everywhere. Best of luck to Sherry!
I’m always encouraged when my writer friends succeed! Super interview. And Sherry, so glad to hear your agent is shopping another book for you. You’ll be even more famous than you already are. *Grin*. :-)
Congratulations to Sherry! My son and I had lots of fun reading the book together. I’m happy to read there will be more on the way. I think he’d really love reading about Bubba and Squirt!
