Thursday night, I returned to
Columbia College Chicago. One of my favorite artists,
Mr. Ivan Brunetti, invited me to drop by his cartooning class. I got to see what his students were working on, gave some feedback (hopefully useful), and stayed to ramble about my own doodles, I mean, work. Above is my page from Columbia College's new "Linework" comics and graphics anthology. Published earlier this year and available in the school's book store!
Yesterday, I visited Link Elementary school in Elk Grove Village, IL. I got to hang out with Mr. Casey’s, COMIC BOOK CLUB! I had a blast! I chatted with the students about comics, monkeys, pop tarts, and our favorite books. We drew a bunch of pictures and even made our own little comic books. All of the kids are SUPER talented, and they had some of the funniest story ideas I’ve ever heard. I hope they all continue to draw everyday!
Thank you to Mr. Casey for inviting me. This guy is a real super hero. A great teacher, and genuine comic supporter. I wanted to make sure word got out about all of his hard work. Let's help him fill Link Elementary library with more comics! You can find Mr. Casey on
twitter/dirtysoap. Let him know you love what he’s doing!
