A jubilee-inspired Illustration Friday post this week because the Queen is in no hurry to abdicate (sorry Charles!).

To be frank, the novelty of Clive jumping out of the wardrobe had well and truly faded.
Okay, I admit, a rather tenuous link today, but I've been working on monsters all week so I had to get one in somewhere!
Thanks for all the lovely comments last week x
You should be ashamed of yourself, frightening a little girl like that! What kind of example do you think you're setting to your son? Well?
Another quick sketch for this week's Illustration Friday word 'kernel'. Happy illustrating everyone : )
I did enjoy painting this happy couple for illustration Friday's word 'hitched' this week. I hope they make someone else smile too : )
A quick sketch for Illustration Friday as I've been rather busy this week : )
I was glad to see the topic for this week's illustration Friday as I have had this sketch in my drawing book for ages. It was a good excuse to work it up into a full colour sample spread for my portfolio. This, ideally, is how I would like to travel :)
How on earth did she get up there??
A quick one for Illustration Friday this week. Have a great weekend : )
I'm surrounded on all sides by farms, so one sound I have had to get used to is the crowing of the very vocal cockerels every dawn. Of course, being french, they crow with a french accent ; )
This was meant to be a crow celebrating the return of Spring, but as I am posting, the clouds are gathering here in Normandy and it is freezing - more like a return to winter! Anyway, this crow doesn't care as he's in the mood to party!
A friendly crocodile for this week's IF word 'swamp'.
I love pen and ink drawings, but have always been a bit nervous of using ink myself and usually stick to pencil. This week I thought I should try an ink drawing, but as I couldn't find my dip pen I experimented using matchsticks, cocktail sticks and brushes. I like the energy that this has given to the lines. Maybe I will give ink another try after all!
I've been playing around with photoshop this week - inventing new brushes and tool presets. I got rid of all the default swatches and filled up the palette with my own colours. This sunny yellow is one of my favourites.
I was a bit stuck for an idea for this week's word 'intention' and then while I was having a spring-clean of my studio I came across this picture I painted a few weeks ago on a spare wall tile (don't ask...just another arty experiment!). So here is my post for Illustration Friday: by the friendly look on his face, I think this tiger has good intentions.
Every now and then I like to paint directly with the wacom pen. Inspired by a rediscovery of acrylics, I've recently created some new tool presets in Photoshop that have expanded my digital mark-making <-- illustration geek alert.
I wanted to paint a boy being capable this week, as I always seem to end up with little girl characters : )
I've chosen a slithery, flowing snake for this week's Illustration Friday word 'fluid'. The text is from a poem by D. H. Lawrence that I heard on the excellent 'Poetry Please' on Radio 4 last Sunday. I really enjoyed painting this - especially adding the texture on the snake's body with a cabbage leaf!
A quick black and white (and pink!) Valentines Day inspired post for this week's Illustration Friday : )
Another post for this week's Illustration Friday. Thanks for all the comments over the past weeks, they are very much appreciated - I try to visit blogs back and comment too.
I'm still really enjoying using acrylics, so I thought I'd paint another illustration this week, inspired by the thick snow that is falling in Normandy today.

Fabulous! Style, color, wit - everything.
love it! :)
Great post for illustration friday!
Very nice! As usual I love your use of texture and color and I'm glad to see the Queen has her corgi even if Prince Philip is our of the picture.
cute!
